1 What’s Covered

Unlimited Editing includes editorial feedback and guidance on every stage of the writing process, from choosing a topic to revising and proofreading the essay, subject to the other terms of this agreement.

2 Timely Replies

We’ll make a good-faith effort to respond to your emails and phone calls in a timely fashion, and to provide editorial feedback on your documents within 48 hours of receipt. If we receive a document outside of our normal business hours (9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday through Friday) or on an American holiday, we may occasionally take longer than 48 hours. We’ll try to warn you in advance if we anticipate that we’ll take longer than 48 hours to get back to you.

3 Confidentiality

We’ll keep your documents and personal information confidential. Your consultant may share your documents and information with other 7Sage consultants for a second opinion. We may also share your documents with third-party proofreaders for the purpose of proofreading.

4 One Version of Each Essay

Unlimited Editing for One Essay covers a single essay or résumé. Unlimited Editing for Two Essays covers two essays or résumés, and so forth.

We’ll work towards a single final draft of each covered document, not different versions for different schools.

5 Two-Part Essays Are Two Essays

We consider each part of a multi-part essay to be a separate document. Unlimited Editing for One Essay will only cover one part; Unlimited Editing for Two Essays will only cover two parts, and so forth.

Example: Western Law (in Ontario, Canada) calls for a personal statement to consist of two parts, A and B. Despite the fact that Western Law represents Parts A and B as different aspects of one personal statement, Unlimited Editing for One Essay will only cover a document in response to Prompt A or a document in response to Prompt B.

In a nutshell: one prompt = one document.

6 Finalizing Documents

After you and your editor are both satisfied that your essay or résumé is finished, we’ll offer to perform an official Final Proofread on the document. Once you sign off on the Final Proofread and we perform it, we won’t be obligated to perform any further editorial services on said document.

In a nutshell: after our final proofread, we’re done.

7 No Drafts Over 2000 words

We won’t work on a draft that’s longer than 2000 words. If you’d like us to read or help you combine multiple documents at the beginning of the process, the combined word count of said documents must be less than or equal to 2000 words.

8 No U-Turns After Three Rounds or a Three-Week Hiatus

After we perform three rounds of editorial feedback (via email, phone call, or any other method) for a given Unlimited Editing package, we won’t start over or change directions on the document covered by that package.

Similarly, if you don’t communicate with us for a period of 21 or more consecutive days, we won’t start over or change directions on the document covered by that package.

For the elimination of doubt, we’ll count any substantial interaction about your essay as a round of feedback, even if we’re not marking up a draft. A conversation or brainstorm about an essay you haven’t yet written yet, for example, counts as a round of feedback.

Example 1: We provide three rounds of feedback on your personal statement about a legal internship. You decide that you would rather write about running a marathon. We won’t work with you on a new essay about running a marathon, but we’ll help polish your essay about the legal internship.

Example 2: We provide three rounds of feedback on your personal statement about a legal internship. You decide that you would like to add a few lines about your experience of running a marathon. We will help you add those lines about the marathon, though we won’t help you change the focus of the entire essay.

Example 3: We brainstorm a personal statement about a legal internship, then outline a personal statement about running a marathon, then outline a personal statement about a banking internship. We will help you finish the personal statement about the banking internship, but we won’t help you make major changes to the structure or change topics again.

In a nutshell: We’ll help you choose your topic, but once we give you three rounds of feedback, we won’t veer in a new direction.

9 No Hiatus of 45 Days or More

If you don’t communicate with us for a period of 45 or more consecutive days after we start working on a document, we won’t be obligated to perform any further editorial services on that document.

Note that you can purchase this service and wait more than 45 days before you start. It’s just that once you do start, you have to keep going.

In a nutshell: once we start, you can’t take a break of 45 days or more.

10 Expiry After A Year

The Unlimited Editing package expires after a year. For the elimination of doubt, we will no longer be obligated to perform any further editorial services a year after your purchase, even if you haven’t received a Final Proofread.

In a nutshell: the package can last for up to one year.

11 Guaranteed Phone Call

We guarantee at least one call of at least thirty minutes if you request such a phone call and if you want to speak for thirty minutes. (We often request a phone call ourselves.) We are usually happy to do multiple phone calls but do not guarantee that we will do multiple phone calls.

12 Refunds

We have a qualified 6-day refund policy. If you’d like a refund, let us know within 6 days of payment to get a full refund less $250 per hour of our consultants’ work time and less a 6% processing fee.

Example: You request a refund five days after purchasing Unlimited Editing, and after a 7Sage editor has spent one hour working on your personal statement. We’ll refund your purchase less $250 + 6% of the total (for processing).

From time to time, 7Sage may be sold out and offer potential Clients a spot on a Waitlist. If 7Sage has offered a consulting or editorial package from a Waitlist and Client has purchased from said Waitlist, such purchase will not be eligible for any refund unless otherwise noted.

13 Switching Consultants

Every once in a while, a client may feel that her consultant is not the best fit for her essay. If you’ve gotten two rounds of written feedback from your consultant or fewer than two rounds, we will grant a request to switch consultants provided that another consultant is available.

We won’t grant a request to switch consultants if you’ve received more than two rounds of written feedback from your consultant or if there are no other consultants available.

14 Upgrading to Unlimited Editing

You can upgrade from a single hour or a single Edit Once to Unlimited Editing for the price difference of Unlimited Editing less the previous purchase. Call that the Unlimited Edit Upgrade Price. You’re eligible for the Unlimited Edit Upgrade Price for one year after your purchase of Edit Once.

If you pay the Unlimited Edit Upgrade Price, we’ll keep working on the document you sent us for an Edit Once or the hourly service.

If you want an Unlimited Edit on a new document after you have already purchased an Edit Once, you’ll need to pay the full price of Unlimited Editing.

Our enroll page may show the Unlimited Edit Upgrade Price, not the full price of an Unlimited Edit.

The minimal Unlimited Edit Upgrade price is $550—even if you purchase two or more Edit Once packages or hours for the same essay.

In a nutshell: if you upgrade from Edit Once or the hourly service to Unlimited Editing for $600 or $550, we’ll continue to revise the document you were already working on.

15 Upgrading from Unlimited Editing to Admissions Consulting

You can upgrade from Unlimited Editing to Admissions Consulting for the price difference of Admissions Consulting less Unlimited Editing. Call that the Admissions Consulting Upgrade Price. You’re eligible for the Admissions Consulting Upgrade Price for one year after your purchase of Unlimited Editing.

If you pay the Admissions Consulting Upgrade Price, we will not start over on or replace documents covered by your Unlimited Edits.

Example: You use an Unlimited Edit for One Essay to craft your personal statement, then upgrade to Admissions Consulting. We’ll help you tailor your personal statement to each school covered by Admissions Consulting, but we won’t help you start over on a new personal statement.

If you want to start over on or replace a document covered by Unlimited Editing, you have to pay the full price of Admissions Consulting.

Our enroll page may show the Admissions Consulting Upgrade Price, not the full price of Admissions Consulting.

The minimal Admissions Consulting Upgrade Price is $2,700, even if you have purchased one or more Unlimited Edit.

16 Adding Extra Unlimited Edits

After your first purchase of an Unlimited Edit for $699, you can purchase extra Unlimited Edits for $599 each. This discounted price is available for one year after your last purchase of an Unlimited Edit.

17 What’s Not Included

  • Writing original content or preparing application materials on your behalf
  • Fact-checking or performing research for your documents
  • Editorial work on a document that a third party has edited or critiqued after our work on said document has commenced
  • Feedback from 7Sage consultants other than your primary consultant.

In a nutshell: We’ll give you feedback and advice, but we won’t do your work for you. If you show your essay to your mom/friend/prelaw advisor and let us know that you’d like to make major changes based on her advice, we may gently suggest that you make those changes with your mom/friend/prelaw advisor.
