The futurist concludes that art in the next century won’t be subversive. This is because artists in the next century will be supported by private patrons, who in turn will almost always support the status quo.

The futurist assumes that the art produced will match the patrons' views: perhaps patrons won’t fund art that they find disagreeable, or artists won't want to threaten the relationship with their patrons.

Patrons won’t fund artist who create subversive art. This strengthens by explaining why artists likely won’t be making subversive art in the future, where artists are supported by patrons.

If anything, this weakens the futurist’s argument. If patrons mostly care about formal artistic problems, then they presumably wouldn’t mind funding subversive artists.

Knowing that artists currently have a diversity of political views isn't useful, because we don't know how those views will be received by patrons in the future.

Knowing that artists get more critical once they’re independent isn't the same as saying that artists aren’t critical while they have a patron, so this doesn't help us.

The futurist directly states that art patrons of the future will oppose social change. This might indicate an exception to that rule, but it certainly doesn't strengthen the idea that patrons will prevent subversive art.
