a

Most Mexican American ████████ ████ █████ ██████ ██ ███ ██████ ███████ █████████ ██ ███████

We don’t know that “most” Mexican American proverbs originated from the common proverb tradition of Europe. We do know that most Spanishl-language proverbs in Mexico originated in Spain, but this doesn’t imply that those proverbs were part of the common proverb tradition of Europe. Although Spain is in Europe, this doesn’t imply that proverbs that originate in Spain originate from the “common proverb tradition” of Europe.

Mexican American parents ███ ████ ██████ ██ █████████ ███ █████ ██ ███████████ ██████ ████ ███ ████ █████ ███████ ██ ███ ██████ ███████

We’re never given evidence that allows us to compare the value Mexican American parents place on traditional wisdom to the value most other parents place on traditional wisdom. Although we know that proverbs are more likely to serve an educational function in Mexican American communities, this doesn’t imply anything about the comparative level of value parents place on traditional wisdom.
