Hi! I'm a student at NYU Law School with an official LSAT score of 175. I've spent the past year+ tutoring for Odyssey Test Prep and Juris Education, working with 10+ students across a range of starting points and timelines. On average, my students improve 7–10 points. Throughout my time tutoring (and while studying for the exam myself), I compiled a study guide including all of the question types you will see on the exam and relevant strategies for answering them. A few things I've learned that actually move scores: Treat LR question types like separate skills, not one big blob. There are roughly 12 distinct LR question types, and most plateaus happen because students are drilling generally instead of isolating the 2–3 types that are actually costing them points. I build lessons around one or two types at a time, then send targeted drilling before the next session. Wrong answers need a two-part autopsy. Figure out why you were drawn to the wrong choice AND why you passed over the right one. Most people only do the first half. Don't skip the study plan. My first session is always a diagnostic conversation on strengths/weaknesses, and from that we build an actual week-by-week plan. Students who study without a plan tend to over-practice what they're already good at. RC needs daily reps, even short ones. A single untimed passage a day keeps your reading muscle active without eating your whole schedule — most people neglect RC because LR feels more rewarding to study. Timed sections + immediate review beats another full PT. Once you're not scoring in the range you want, doing yet another 5-section PT often just repeats the same mistakes. Targeted review closes gaps faster. I tutor both online and in person in the NYC area, and I'm flexible on scheduling.
