@ Thanks for your response! Your second point about not marathon studying... I am definitely guilty of that. I'm registered for the Sept LSAT, do you have any suggestions on how I should continue studying rather than marathoning it? I don't want to burn out because that's how I felt nearing the June LSAT but at the same time, I feel that I learn better when I'm studying for long periods of time consistently (Right now my study schedule consists of studying Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday usually all day, and then Monday, Wednesday, Friday I usually get off work and come home and do some short review of PT answers that I may have done on the other days).

You've given some solid advice I really appreciate it! Everyone on the forum talks about drilling questions, I've been going through the question bank and then just selectively doing the question types from older LSATs, is there another way to go about this?

Flaw questions are a wildcard, I'll get the majority of them correct but every now and then there's always that one or two tough flaw questions that I can narrow down to 2-3 ACs but then end up choosing the wrong one from that selection. I'm not sure how to sharpen up the thinking on those questions, they all seem pretty attractive but when I review the answers it ends up making sense as to why one of them is correct...

@ @ Thank you both for your advice! I'll try revisiting the CC and perhaps taking a different perspective on the questions this time around. :)

Thank you for your response! I think I'll follow your suggestion and work most on LR for the time being (LG - I think I have a somewhat solid foundation, the questions i get wrong I tend to get right during BR so I think it may just be I was reading too quickly), and RC... well... yeah I'm just going to regard that as a lost cause for now lol.

Your explanation on PT48 is actually really helpful because I just did PT48 today and also got that principle question wrong! Do you have any suggestions as to how I should focus on LR going forward? I'm not sure how I should approach those difficult questions other than just drilling them...

Thoughts on how to tackle PTs...

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if anyone has encountered the situation I am in but I'm sure you all will have some helpful input regardless! My cold diagnostic before studying was a 138. I recently took the June 2016 test and scored a 156. I was PTing around 156-161 prior to the test so accounting for the test day nerves, the score sounds about right. I studied for about 5-6 weeks through the Powerscore bibles so I guess it was an okay score. Also used the 7sage LG video explanations on Youtube and the RC seminar by Nicole Hopkins. I wasn't aiming for a very high score regardless (my mistake), rather I just wanted to get a feel of the testing situation so that my nerves for the second time around would be a little calmer. Breakdown of the June test:

RC : -13

LR : -9

LG: -2

LR: -9

Unfortunately I wasn't very smart about my studying (hadn't really stumbled onto the 7Sage forums yet and was just clueless about how to study) and ended up completely burning through preptests 29-79... My problem now that I am retaking in Sept is that I don't have any more recent preptests to go through. I am currently about halfway through the 70% done with the CC and I feel I have a better grasp of understanding the LSAT than I did for the June test. But I haven't taken any preptests yet so I'm not sure how I will perform on a timed test. So far, most of the questions that are given in the CC w/video explanations - I've been getting them right, though I don't know if this may be because I can recognize the familiarity of the questions (I haven't done the problem sets at the end of each lesson.. saving these for the end)

I am aiming for at least 163-164 (ideally, I would really love something above 165+ but given the time constraints, I am wary that this is achievable for September). Also, December is not really an option as I have a full course load for September and I don't think I would be able to manage all of that together.

Do you guys have any tips on how to proceed after finishing the CC? I think I will try preptests 1-28 and probably redo the more recent ones (65-80), but I'm a little cautious as to how accurate the scoring would be considering I would be slightly familiar with the answer choices already. Also, any tips on RC? It's a little ironic... during the beginning of my studying I was scoring around -5-6 on RC..

Thanks everyone!

Hello all,

After finishing the CC and attempting about 5-6 PTs , I noticed I was still hovering around 158-160 so I revisited the CC and that same day, decided to take PT41 untimed and scored a 166. Huge confidence boost because that's the highest I've ever scored (June test scored a 156 so 166 is quite the improvement). I've done a few more untimed PTs after that thinking that perhaps it was a timing issue but still have returned back to the 160 score :( my motivation is a little shot because it's a little frustrating to know that I may be capable of scoring 166 but keep on scoring in the low 160s... My goal for Sept is to PT at least 165+.

The PTs besides PT41 (post and pre) have been around -8 to -9 on RC, -6 each on LR and 0 to -2 on LG. I know my RC needs work and I've adopted the no notation strategy and have noticed a slight improvement in comprehension and understanding the questions a bit better. The Infer Author Perspective is usually the ones that I get wrong though. For LR, I've noticed a huge improvement in understanding after revisiting the CC but the questions I now get wrong are usually the level 4 or 5 difficulty questions (usually flaw or parallel flaw). Also, I've noticed I struggle a bit more with principle questions, does anyone have any tips to proceed with these?

PT41 was -4 on each LR, -6 on RC and -2 on LG.

So close yet so far away! Help :'(

Confidence drills?

Hi everyone,

So like some have mentioned, I also underperformed on the Sept LSAT. Attempting to re-study again, I'm really trying not to be stubborn and trying to study this time around in a very strategic way, with reinforcing all the fundamentals again first and not burning through PTs like candy. I've just watched the post-CC webinar. Could someone explain the confidence drills to me? I haven't quite gotten the explanation for it even after searching the forums.

My understanding is that you take a section timed and every question you answer with 80% confidence. So does this mean that upon reading the ACs, the first one that supposedly pops out at you for the right answer is the one you choose and then just immediately move on without reading the rest of the ACs? Someone also mentioned decreasing confidence after a while, from 80 to 70 to 60%, but I'm not sure what this means. But how do you judge what level of confidence you're at? I'm terrible at judging my confidence... Overall, I'm a bit confused lol.

Are you guys using PT1-35 range for confidence drills? Thank you!

@ Thanks for your response!

I think you were right in that I was feeling burnt out but it's almost more of a psychological hurdle in that I was getting stressed that I was feeling burnt out and not doing as well as I hope to. I tried to change my mindset today and view it more positively and with more confidence and it seems to have worked (knock on wood..).

Have you noticed any particular changes as of the 80s? I know there's only PT80 and 81 for the time being but any noticeable differences in comparison with say the 70s or 60s?

@ @ @

Thanks for all your responses, it's a little more reassuring to know that I'm not the only one stressing out here. I know we can all get through this together!!! I think it is definitely confidence issue (either of overconfidence or underconfidence).

I reviewed the LR question types this morning and the general approach to each of them and followed it by doing another LR section untimed today, really taking my time eliminate AC and think about why I was selecting the AC as my right one and scored -4! I just finished PT76 and scored a 167 (-4 for each LR, -4 for LG, and -5 for RC)! Highest I've ever scored. So hopefully it is just a matter of stress/anxiety that's impairing me and as well as all of you too.

We've definitely put in the work to learn everything and done our fair share of PTs. We can rock the Sept LSAT's socks off, as cheesy as it is lol. Goodluck to all of you!!! :)

Hi everyone,

Goodluck to those who are taking in Sept! And to the rest of you studying!

I need some advice. This whole week I was down with the flu so I didn't get much studying done. About 1.5 weeks ago, I was averaging in the low 160s with a few outliers in the 165-166 range, felt pretty confident in my abilities but I knew I could improve more. LG was down to about -2, LR was down to -4 to -6, and RC was about -6 to -8. I revisited the CC twice already and thought I had established some fairly good understanding of the fundamentals.

Prior to this week of getting sick, I did a few preptests and they were significantly lower than usual (I'm talking like 157, 154 and 158...) I'm not sure why this is, I took them on different days - during review, the answers seemed evident... I revisited the CC again after this but of course my sickness got in the way for the week. I just did PT78 and scored a 160 so that made me feel a bit better (at least it wasn't in the 150s lol) but the questions I was getting wrong, I could get them right under review. So I thought okay maybe it's timing again (had another instance of a timing issue previously), so I just did PT60 first LR section allowing myself a bit more time (40 min) and got -10...

Help :( I thought I was making some progress in LR... With the test coming up literally in one week, I am thoroughly freaking out.

Has anyone else had wildlly fluctuating scores??? Please let me know your thought process and recommendations on how I should keep studying, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you!!!!

Is it possible to just sit in on the BR session and not participate? I've never been to a session before and would like to get the gist of the session first

Confirm action

Are you sure?
