Oh yes, totally know where you're coming from with the zombie on autopilot! That was my first test expereince.. awful!!
That's really good that one day fixed it! For me it took weeks.. but i've been going at this for 7 months straight now. I have actually done each test at least once, in prep for September but I think you're right, i've got the 79/80 games left that I haven't touched this time around. Maybe i'll check those out with an LR rather than a Saturday full test?
I'm just thankful it's only a week left!!
Hey!
I'm kinda planning something similar. I went super study-mode all summer May-September and was completely burnt out on my Sept test date. Took it easy this time around and I am getting high scores and not burning out. With a week left to December, I'm deciding between writing one test Saturday, reviewing monday, writing another Wednesday and reviewing thursday/friday,
OR
Writing one on Monday, reviewing Wednesday and taking thursday/friday off.
How many days did you take off between? Typically I write a test Wednesday/Saturday but my biggest fear is burning out again.
Hey! I know exactly how you feel. I just got my score back and got a 156 after scoring 165-168 on every pre-test I did in the summer. I've actually never scored below a 162 on any pre-test when studying so it's really disappointing and embarrassing. I too let the pressure get to me and my mind blanked entirely; the first LR section blew my confidence. Coupled with the judges passage, those two were bad enough to kill my score.
I personally am re-taking December. My Canadian apps are all in but I know I can do better and it sounds like you know you can too! I'm focusing on 70-82 and really reviewing them to know every detail.. I definitely burnt out at the end of my prep trying to focus on too many tests and the wasn't helpful. I don't know if that's the same for you but trying to focus on too many at once really caused a lot more anxiety and pressure.
Keep in mind a LOT of people do bad their first time, and it's only 7 weeks until you can get redemption and beat the test :)
Totally agree with above. I went super hard last week before September test and the actual test went awful to the point I was in burnt out and couldnt even deal with school afterwards. I just retook the same test and got in my range with 0 issues, so i'm ammounting it to stress.
Last time I probably took 4 tests the week before, this time today is my last. Reviewing it Wednesday and the rest of the week is entirely off. Maybe a game or passage if I feel like it. But don't push yourself! Positive mentality is the only thing that will help you at this point.
