I was stuck between C and E and I totally understand why E is correct, but why is C incorrect? I might be reading it wrong, but it basically says that an alternative hypothesis, the species energy hypothesis, is proven correct. Wouldn't this significantly weaken the rate-of-speciation hypothesis since another one is proven to be true?

Am I correct in assuming that answer choice D would still be the right answer choice if it said few instead of some?
