Excited to finally make this tutoring post now that I'm done with the LSAT!
I just scored 175 on October after scoring 170 three times (see this post here: https://7sage.com/discussion/63686/this-is-your-sign-to-never-give-up-and-never-settle?notification_id=ntf_034oAjdzoLWm1GwXNQdOke)
I had been PTing 175+ before the previous two attempts which made seeing no progress extra disappointing. I studied for the LSAT while working full-time on my first attempt and while working full time and tutoring part time the last three attempts. I've tutored for almost 2 years now, first at another large tutoring company and solo for the last year or so. Not seeing my knowledge translate into results made me feel like a fraud but I knew I was capable of that 175+ and it was just a matter of putting all the pieces together come test day.
Being stuck at 170 forced me to start from scratch and systemize everything for myself. I drove myself a little crazy breaking everything down into steps and checklists to ensure repeatable performance. That thankfully paid off for me and has only boosted what I've been able to provide to my one-on-one clients. I also have some real experience in fighting that mental side of this test and knowing how to frame studying and schedule when the results haven't shown up on official scores yet. This probably came from my background in sports my whole life and baseball specifically. I love helping students with the mental side of performance improvement just as much as the tactical skills side.
I think about the LSAT in terms of bottlenecks. I love coming prepared into one-on-one sessions explaining exactly to my student what the lowest hanging fruit for them to improve is, so there's something actionable that can directly result in a tiny increase. Tiny increases quickly add up to goal scores!

I said I'd never post one of these to brag or make someone feel bad. But i feel obligated to share this for someone who doesn't get what they want today. There are so many factors going into test day, they give the score band for a reason.
My January and February tests were an extreme disappointment for me - i had been tutoring the test for a year with my 170 on file, averaging 175+ on PTs with several perfect PTs right up to those test days, and still don't have a great answer why the score didn't show up either take (most likely too many full tests / caffeine heading into both tests in case that helps anyone). I was super disheartened, felt like a fraud for tutoring new students, but then something in August told me to not settle, to know that I was capable of 175+ and to try again and be detached from any results like how I was my very first take 2 years ago. Please keep going and take a big deep breath and well deserved break if you don't see the number you wanted to see today - you got this!!
