This may or may not help, but I think the reason I (and others) do well on RC is that I hone in on the author's tone and the subject, and I connect all the dots for them, creating one cohesive narrative in my brain.
It is the opposite of LR where you are mostly focused on figuring out the argument structure (support, conclusion) and figuring out why an argument isn't cohesive.
I perform well on RC (just not on LR).
