@ConnerKline Why is D not interpreted as "Person 1 being held responsible for the actions of Person 2 (to place themselves in peril)" which matches C's "newspaper held responsible for the contents of columnist's op-ed?"
Does the interpretation of D as "Person 1's inaction leading to consequences of their inaction" not require the assumption that Person 1 was responsible for Person 2?
