I'm still confused about this one, even after watching the video... Especially because the other premises to the conclusion are drawing necessary conditions against it.. so, it almost feels like a "view" that it is trying to discredit... Now, the word "discredit" is a bit strong in this situation, but I think I'm failing to see how it offers direct support for the conclusion... If not a view that it's meant to discredit, I would assume it's just context.
I feel like there's an assumption about the Genie+ fast pass only being accessible via download from the app.
I don't know.. I was using the assumption that perhaps Mr. Fat Cat had salmon remnant on his paws. But then, I see the important of whether or not he could even knock over the trash can. Perhaps a raccoon knocked over the trash can, and Mr. Fat Cat was just helping himself. Also, was this indoors or outdoors? It think it goes to the same question of whether there are other animals around.
In my opinion, the Tiger argument was stronger because it listed a clear example supporting the conclusion that not all mammals are safe to keep as pets.
The Disney example provided several premises, which many would think creates a stronger argument. However, I feel like there is a hole in the argument regardless of the myriad of premises. Hear me out...
It is a requirement that Walt must be a member of the Disney Vacation Club in order to obtain a Genie+ pass.
It goes on to say that in order to download the Genie+ pass via the Disney app, one must have offered ten goats' worth of propitiations to Mickey Mouse.
The CONCLUSION states that Walt must have offered the requisite propitiations to Mickey Mouse.
However, the premises say he only needs to be a member for the Genie+ pass. In order to download it via the APP, he must prostrate himself or offer the requisite propitiations to Mickey Mouse.
This argument does not state that Walt downloaded the Genie+ pass via the app. Perhaps he printed it out from his computer or provided an ID at the customer service desk in order to receive a wristband. Therefore, there's a hole in the argument. But then again, I know nothing about Disney's Genie+ passes. Could they only be downloaded via the app? I feel like we're told not to work off of information outside of what's provided.
I feel like that example was unnecessarily disturbing... 7Sage could have easily made an example about how "cheeseburger" means "dog feces," which is still gross without jumping to the perturbing topic of cannibalism. #feedback
I can clearly see that D is incorrect now... However in the moment, I was thinking of the statement "Only primates have opposable thumbs" .. So, if you're NOT a primate, you do not have opposable thumbs (contrapositive?). For some reason, I was stuck on the fact that it didn't say ALL primates have opposable thumbs. Rookie mistake..
