@CollinMcGrath its more applying the principle that you shouldn't be allowed to profit off of a bad deed. Even though writing a book isn't bad, the book never could've been written had the crime not occurred. So the criminal should not be allowed to profit on an activity that (while legal) hinged on a bad deed being committed.
