I'd suggest slowing down to speed up, depending on how long you spend reading the passage, take some more time reading it and really try to break down in your mind where it's going. The better you can understand the passage usually the more prepared you can be for the questions.

Personally I rarely use it ever for LR. Mainly bc of timing and not wanting to rely on it. For RC I may use it to jot down mini notes for structure esp. on a more difficult passage but I tend to use the highlighter tool instead.
