A not being correct is a little ridiculous. The passage states "Gathering together several short films (and in the early 1910s most films were under fifteen minutes) by the same maker or studio, while useful for historians and academics, is often profoundly dull for the viewer." It is a fair assumption to consider the maker or studio the artist and in this case the author clearly states it's often dull.
