Taken from LSAC's writing website: "Headphones, earbuds, or anything similar that is not a soft, non-electronic, non-corded/banded, generic foam ear plug (unless otherwise specified in an accommodation approval letter, if applicable)"

Yes, generic soft foam ear plugs are allowed. But, make sure you hold them up and show them to the camera (as well as everything else on your desk) during the room scan or else your sample may be flagged for review.

LSAC losing flex scores

Anyone else following this thread on Reddit? Apparently LSAC called a few people today (the day before scores are released...) who took the July Flex to tell them that their score “got lost”. I’m registered for August and am considering a move to October since there’s a coupon. What’re your thoughts?

The Logical Reasoning Loophole by Ellen Cassidy. Buy it. Memorize it. It will change your LR game!

I'm also having LR troubles. Can someone explain what this loophole is?

Does anyone know how to change your test date? I signed up for the October flex but decided to push to November. Can't seem to find on the website how to change it and the LSAC line is always busy when I call! Plz help

DITTTTTTTO. anyone know?

Email LSAC at LSACinfo@.org and ask for the coupon to move your test date. It will take them a few days to get back to you.

This would have saved me a lot of tears if I had read this yesterday!! LSAC said that I already had a ProctorU account, which I never signed up for, and assumed that maybe a professor registered me back in college with my university email address which I no longer have access to. Turns out, I was registered with my LSAC login email address. Not sure how this happened since I created that email address specifically for LSAT stuff. So if anyone is told that they already have a ProctorU account, try “forgetting password” with your LSAC login email. I had a breakdown on the phone with ProctorU yesterday trying to figure this out. 2 weeks until test day!! [Deep breaths]

If you don't have your LSAC/Proctor U email yet!!! Go to ProctorU anyway and select User Login. Then say "forgot password". They will email you a link to reset password that you can use to login. People are currently scheduling their LSAT-flexes so see if this works for you!

Consistently in practice tests, my first section is my best with each subsequent section scoring worse than the previous. On the PT I just took, section 1 was LR and I got -3. Section 4 was the second LR and I got -11. I find that my stamina greatly diminishes after each section, especially with the digital test. It’s harder to concentrate, both on what the words mean and the screen itself.

Does anyone have any stamina tips for the digital test? Is it just practice? Also, is it possible that the two LR sections vary that drastically in difficulty?

Thanks!

Same, I applied the week after Thanksgiving (US) and am still anxiously waiting. Just checked my application status and it's still in review. Glad I'm not the only one!

I think your writing sample is only valid for one year. Might want to double check with LSAC.

If I took the LSAT writing last November do I need to take it again this November?

@ If you already have a Writing on file, then you don't have to take it again.

I’m in a similar situation, so thank you for posting this question. All of these responses have been very helpful!

I find that if I retake old PT’s that are around a year old, I actually do not remember the content, but have (hopefully) remembered the skills required.

Do we have to finish LSAT writing before they release our score to us? Secondly, does 7sage have any resources on the writing portion of the test? I’ve been out of college for a long time and would really benefit from some tips. Thank you!

#help I do not understand how LSAC considers C a weakening AC. In every other LSAT question, saying that something wasn’t in that spot at that time doesn’t do anything to the argument. For example, Athens was an international trade hub, but real world knowledge aside, the host animal could be in the neighboring town and brought in by people, other animals, etc. Sometimes I feel like I will never get this test!

Taking the Aug Flex on an iPad?

Has anyone taken a flex test on an iPad? I’m sitting the August test and have heard of some issues with MacBook Air. I’ve never experienced any issues with digital PT’s on the iPad and am mostly worried about a slow down with ProctorU.

Thank you!

I feel :'( Mine is more anxiety leading up to the exam...coming from the girl who just lost almost all of last night's sleep because of test anxiety... good luck all

I've been taking a magnesium supplement at night and it really helps. I forgot where I heard this from, but the 3M's of self-care are: Movement, Meditation, Magnesium!

Thank you so much for sharing! I'm taking it next Tuesday as well and completely choked during the October test due to anxiety. Since then, I've read Performing Under Pressure (Weisinger and Pawliw-Fry) after seeing it recommended here on 7sage. It's great to feel so supported by this community and to know that I'm not the only one. We got this!

@ No problem, happy to help!

I think that if you can fill the template out in BR without going back and rereading the passage, then that should absolutely be the goal. If you can do that, then your retention really is top notch. The goal of the template is to get your very familiar with how to do these particular tasks so that you can do then subconsciously while you read. The goal is for you to be able to mentally fill out the template under timed conditions, but without having to stop and think about it. All of the information should just be collected in your head as you read.

I was certainly scoring very similar to you for quite some time. If you are consistently -0 in BR, then the issues do seem to be in your timing. Make sure that you are taking enough time to read the passage properly, that is where the answers are. Moving on to the questions won't help you unless your understanding of the passage is where it needs to be. How do you typically manage your time during an RC section? With a few more details I can probably offer some more targeted advice!

I'm usually very pressed for time in RC! It's the only section that I'm unable to do a second or third round. I spend a lot of time on the first passage typically (not intentionally), and am rushing to do the last passage in time.

This week, I've been practicing an untimed "memory method" using your template to build up my retention, and am working towards being able to have this mentally stored during a timed passage. I put most of my work upfront in the passage and read the passage in ~5 minutes and try to complete each question in under a minute, sometimes taking longer for a difficult one which are usually the analogies for me. Since reading your post and attending the zoom sessions, I'm forcing myself to be less reliant on writing notes.

But I think that rushing causes me to misinterpret some information. My highest priority questions in RC are the 1. Recognition - what is stated 2. Inference and 3. Inference - authors perspective.

@ i saw that too but its so long...do you know at what timestamp they specifically discuss the jan test?

I just watched it at 1.75x speed, it was sooo helpful! I would recommend watching it. They have an outline of timestamps at the beginning.

I took the October Flex and had a hard misc game for Game 4. Other than that I think RC and LR were pretty regular. I've taken the LSAT twice before and both of my scores were exactly what I was PT'ing at. With the curve, the real test is actually a pretty accurate indicator of your general performance. I saw a recent post on 7sage where someone said that they're predicting that the January Flex will be similar to the tests in the early 80s. I have no idea where they got this info from or how they made that prediction so take it for what you will.

LSAT ID matching LSAC address

I’d like to change my LSAC profile address to my mailing address (it’s currently my parents’ which I use as my permanent address). However, my driver’s licence says my parent’s. Will this be an issue when I present photo ID on LSAT day? Thank you!

@ thank you so much for this incredibly helpful information! Regarding your template, do you recommend filling it out during BR without re-reading the passage in order to test retention? Is the final goal to be able to mentally fill out this template under timed conditions? I'm towards the end of my studies and like many others, RC is my worst section. I typically score +/- 8 while timed but -0 during blind review. Any tips would be very appreciated.

Do you blind review and fool proof your games? I would suggest doing one very easy game, maybe just setting up the game boards, and not necessarily going into the questions. You want your confidence to be at its highest that day, so choose something that you know you'll get 100% on.

For those of us who are still having challenges with timing, I found this semi-useful guessing strategy on Powerscore’s website and wanted to share

« if you cannot finish the final questions in a section, in the Logical Reasoning section you should always guess answer choice (E). In the Reading Comprehension section you should always guess answer choice (D), and in the Logic Games section you should guess (A) »

@ thank you so much for posting these helpful notes! I did not attend this session, but am looking forward @ 's A/b session tomorrow night.

Question- you mentioned using ctrl+F. Is this legal and even doable on the digital LSAT? I've never thought about this. Probably because I've been practicing on an ipad up until recently. Thank you!

I’m considering applying early decision for a certain T14 school. However, I’m still waiting on my October Flex score. I don’t think I did as well as I wanted to in October due to nerves, so I’m currently signed up for the January LSAT too.

If I apply somewhere ED and get rejected, can I re-apply in January with my new score? Would you recommend just applying in January? I feel like it’s such a gamble since it’s a little late in the game.

Delaying a cycle is NOT an option for me - I’ve already delayed two application cycles.

Thank you!
