I have heard murmurs and speculation that the next cycle might be even more competitive. Any thoughts on this matter?

Sure! The important thing to remember is that the question stem in weakening questions always say "Which one of the following IF TRUE"
Meaning that we accept the answers as true. That's the first step.
Secondly, you are going to want to go ahead identify the conclusion.
After that, you identify the premise(s) of the argument.
Once you have an understanding of how the argument is moving from the premises to the conclusion, that's when you start attacking the answers.
**Important note:**Your goal is not to weaken the conclusion. Your goal is to weaken the reasoning BETWEEN the premises and the conclusion.
For example, if it is a causal argument where the conclusion is "X thing causes Y thing", the most common weakening answer is something that gives you an alternative explanation for the cause and effect relationship in the stimulus.
Other than that, keep drilling with problem sets, and make sure to check out the 7sage explanations! Let me know if you have any specific questions you struggle with; I got a 177 on the LSAT :)
To be completely candid, prioritize your mental health and well-being over this standardized exam. Perhaps this is not the right time to be applying for law school, especially with all of the stressors and factors that you shared in your post.
While I wholeheartedly believe that one day with the right mindset and effort you'll be able to reach your goal, if you feel like you're just hitting a wall and generally suffering...then yeah, you may have to reevaluate your plans for the near future. Just remember that you matter more than the LSAT, and that it does not define you.
Good luck with whatever you decide either way, I sincerely hope you make a decision that is to your benefit!
Depends on the context of the overall ranking vs the specialty ranking.
University of Florida legitimately carries weight with its Tax Law specialty for example.
However, most supposed specialties are honestly just giveaways from USNWR to T2-T5 ranked schools so that they can be the best at underwater basketweaving or whatever.
Really, what I would do is decide based upon which school actually gets you a job upon graduation. Check out their respective 509 reports to see how their employment stats shake out (you can just google 509 "school here" to get it).
Good luck with your decision!
