Hello 7sagers! Vague question alert here, but I took the June LSAT and am starting the application process - how do I go about narrowing down my list of schools? What kind of process are you using? Not entirely sure where I eventually want to settle down and practice (which is complicating things), but I scored a 166 and have a 3.85 LSAC GPA (OK softs, played a sport 4 years in college if that makes a difference). Do you think I can get into some of the lower tier T-14 schools? Any help is appreciated - thanks!

Question - got approved for the full amount (20,500) but am now living with my parents for law school (1L year at least). I only need about 7k to cover first year costs. Stupid questions:
I have enough saved up to cover my 1L costs without taking out any loans this year. Would you take out the 7k and then invest the savings or just pay for it to come out of the first year debt free?
Is the FAFSA year by year or could I take out the full 20,500 now to cover the next couple of years?
Any help or resources you could direct me to is appreciated. Thanks!
@ got to brainstorm man! hahaha
@ Thanks! That is a good point - I think I might do a "Top 10 ways I spend my free time" and then highlight my dork side in that.
@ the more I think about it the more I'm leaning away from it haha. I feel like the reward doesn't match the risk. Like I said above I think I might make a more general top 10 statement and then slip some of my nerd tendencies in there (Pokemon, Harry Potter, etc.)
For Georgetown Law's optional responses I'm torn between doing the generic "Where do you see yourself in 10 years after graduation from Georgetown" or a "Top Ten list." For my top ten I thought about listing my top 10 favorite pokemon and talking about some of my competitive battling experience (totally dorky, I know) or like a top 10 favorite book list, top 10 favorite Harry Potter characters, top 10 favorite TV shows, etc. Are those way too informal and goofy? lol any thoughts are appreciated! 166/3.85 so pretty borderline right now...
@ interesting article - honestly I think that's how I've approached it (to a degree). PT average was about 164, came out of the test thinking 160-162. I think there is something to be said about "feeling worse" about it on test day (frieaking inferential thoughts...) and then thinking it wasn't as bad later on - I guess we'll find out in about a week!
Does anyone else have more optimism about their test score the further they get from the June LSAT? I was pretty defeated after taking the test, but the more I think about it the better I think I did. Am I delusional? haha is anyone else having this experience?
Perfect- thanks guys! Honestly I think I just need to start writing and themes/ideas will naturally flow out of that process.
Hello 7sagers - good luck to those taking the upcoming September LSAT! I'm having some trouble coming up with a personal statement topic. Does talking about my college athletic career and the characteristics/traits its developed in me an overused topic? I've thought about taking the angle of how I went into college with an idea of how my career would turn out, how it didn't, and what I learned from that and how it lead me to pursue a legal career. Thoughts?
Also interested!
Awesome! I'll DM each of you probably tomorrow after I finish my rough draft tonight - looking forward to it!
Hello everyone!
I've heard some schools that do "remedial" courses/a crash course for students who got in with lower LSATs/GPAs that goes over how to read a case, how to take exams, etc. before school starts. Does anyone know what this is called? Or if it even exists? haha
If I'm not crazy, does anyone know what schools do it?
Thanks for any help!
Would anyone be interested in swapping personal statements and providing some constructive feedback?
Anyone else having trouble fitting their descriptions in on the electronic applications?? haha any advice?
What kind of questions are you asking yourself to get the creative process started? How are you going about crafting your personal statements?
not yet - desperately refreshing the page every half hour hahaha
thanks @! I've done some research on lawschoolnumbers and it seems like a great resource.
