@ you're taking the Feb 2018 LSAT?

Hey guys. So I ended up choosing Powerscore over 7Sage at the time we spoke (7 months ago). In fact, I self-studied using Powerscore. And let me say @ you were SPOT ON with your analysis of Powerscore. However, upon the LSAT, I had increased my PT score by 10 -12 points from my diagnostic (137) during the course of my 4-month prep (I know its not the best improvement but it was good for me especially where I want to go to school (Suffolk Law)). Unfortunately, my nerves and anxiousness took control, and I performed horribly on the Dec 2017 LSAT (139). I signed up for the February 2018 LSAT and purchased 7Sage Starter pack.

This test is a serious hurdle for me, but I refuse to quit. My goal is to score in the mid-150s and from what I've read on 7Sage, I think I can get there by February.

Another thing about Powerscore is that by Month 3 of my prep, I couldn't improve my score any more. I put diligent time and effort into it but never experienced a 12+ point increase. Plus, my scores aren't the greatest which gives me confidence that if I find the right prep service, I can get to that mid-150 mark. I start tonight. What do you guys think?

@ I was so nervous that when leaving the test center and trying to recollect the questions presented, I couldn't remember a single one. I couldn't even remember the Writing Section.

@ I can fully relate to you. My nerves and anxiousness took control and I didn't score nearly as well as my PTs. I printed out the test as well and plan on taking it under timed conditions, along with other PTs, during the course of 7Sage Starter for February 2018 LSAT. Gotta keep that head high and stay relaxed and confident!!

Hey everyone. I'm registered for the Feb 2018 LSAT and was wondering if anyone recommends using 7Sage for 1.5 month prep. I took the Dec 2017 LSAT and self-studied for 4-months using Powerscore. The nerves took over on test day and adversely affected my score, mostly because I wasn't too confident in my preparation despite a floating 8-10 point increase on my PTs from my diagnostic. I feel like there's a limitation with Powerscore, especially when self-studying. Their private tutors are too far from me to travel to also. What do you guys think?

@.l.defalco I currently work for a community bank as a Compliance Analyst in Queens, NY. Everyday I get to work with the Compliance Officer, who's a practicing attorney, and the Bank Counsel. I've been working in Bank Compliance for almost 4 years, and it's Bank Compliance that affirmed my decision in wanting to pursue law school and ultimately become an attorney. I have no interest in working in Compliance, but Compliance has been a great start in terms of legal researching, legal interpretation, policy drafting, meeting and arguing with regulatory examiners, etc. When it comes to working in Bank Compliance, big banks now tend to hire Compliance Professionals with the CRCM certification as oppose to hiring attorneys. Big banks face more regulations than smaller banks, such as my community bank for example, and so they will hire a team of Compliance Professionals with this certification. This is more cost effective in terms of wages; I've been offered yearly salaries ranging from $65K-$90K at several big banks. But I choose to work at this community bank for a good salary since I'm close with the Compliance Officer and I have more access to the Bank than I would at a big bank. As for smaller/community banks, 9 times out of 10 they will have one person running the Compliance Department and that's the Compliance Officer/Manager. 9 times out of 10, this person is a practicing attorney. The workload would be too much for a single Compliance Professional, and a team of Compliance Professionals would be out of the question; a smaller/community bank won't utilize more resources than it needs to. FYI, working in Compliance is very high-risk. If a regulator finds any exceptions deemed critical and your bank is subject to regulatory scrutiny, you may be terminated. The likelihood of finding employment in Compliance with that on your track record is slim. You can also work as a Closing attorney, foreclosure attorney, or title attorney.

I'm going to repeat my point since it got caught in the middle of this thread. @ @ @ @ @ @ @ "Aren't we all looking for that ROI? Of course we are. My point is that it'd be foolish to attend a high rank school that's going to put you $150K+ in debt just because certain reports reflect great employment outcomes and bar passage rates. I consider the reports you refer to however, I also keep in mind the student loan bubble and the interest rates the govt adds to these loans on those that CHOOSE to take the risk of paying off that debt just because they THINK they can get a high paying job in 3 years based on annual issued reports of employment, etc, as oppose to taking that 75% grant from Hofstra and coming out with a $85K annual salary position."

@ "to suggest that one should turn out Harvard for Hofstra is frankly absurd". I completely agree with you. However, it's absurd if you go to Harvard and graduate with $150K+ in debt then go to Hofstra with that 75% grant. Your ignorance would get the best of you if you were to do that.

I agree, weigh your options. Of course consider these things however, I would place the most weight on grants/scholarship. @ very anecdotal, those lawyers could be suffering for other reasons besides the school they attended (perhaps they're boutique lawyers with no demand, among other things). Fortunately, they're not in law school debt. The biggest threat there is is DEBT. Don't go to a school that you have to take out a huge loan + 8% interest because you think you can get a great high-paying job based on the school's employment numbers.

Follow the money, not the rank

I've spoken with so many attorneys and they all have said this to me: It doesn't matter what law school you attend. Of course there are law schools out there that may give you an easier access to a certain industry as well as certain firms but it does not guarantee any success in the future. No one cares what school you attended after you pass the Bar. The goal of attending and then graduating law school is passing the Bar and achieving profitability. Hence, you're out of your mind if you take out a loan to go to Harvard instead of taking that 75% grant from Hofstra. I've seen "T-14 or bust". Whoever is giving you that advice you should ignore from now on. These attorneys I've spoken with and have relationships with graduated from Brooklyn, NYLS, Cooley, New England Law, and a few other T3-T4 schools. All are at least 6-digit annual earners, some are multi-millionaires from Cooley and New England Law, and other T3-T4 schools and are mid-age. Someone I know well graduated from UMass Andover Law and if you're aware of that school, you'll know that its NOT ABA-accredited. She paid less than $20K a year in tuition and now has her own firm with a group of associates...multi-millionaire. Follow the money, achieve that profitability!! If you get a huge grant, don't be a schmuck and say "oh it's T4 and the school's graduates go to more mid-size firms than big-law firms, so f*ck that". Good luck to everyone on their LSAT prep; I hope you crush it and get as much money in grants as possible.

I was locked in for this test. I didn't nor wanted to socialize with anyone prior to it. I came into the test center to do one thing, and that was to crush this test!!! As for snacks, it's all about almond milk chocolates and a sparkling water!! I felt calm throughout the entire test and idk about you guys, but staying calm has always been the toughest obstacle for me when taking this test. I thank the chocolates  As for the test, Logic games felt straightforward besides the armed robbery game, I had to guess on a few on that one. Was anyone surprised for how many MP, Strengthen, Point at Issue, and Weaken questions there were in LR lol? I was pumped to see so many. RC felt good as well. I didn't have much time for the Comparative section however, the Beetle/Larvae and Adult Education passages were very interesting and for that alone I'm confident that I crushed that too. I'm feeling really good right now. Can't wait to get this score back! I wish you guys the best of luck!

I got an email from a law school on 12/21 saying December LSAT scores were being released the next day. Turns out, that law school was right. Scores came out on 12/22.
