@ thanks for that, and agreed on the Yale commentary lol On the higher end I am aiming for Georgetown (perhaps super unlikely but hey, why not reach for the stars?) otherwise I'm looking towards UF for that wonderful in state tuition

@.hopkins lol first off, I love that meme. Secondly, I completely agree with you. Despite my insecurities, I love a good competition... Makes winning ( or in this case, getting in) all that more satisfying.

"Never let the fear of losing keep you from playing the game'

I forget who said that quote, but has always stuck with me.

Also, general question here, although I am quite behind on my studies, I am still planning to take the Oct LSAT. If I do not do as well as desired, I plan to follow up with the Dec exam. Would this be advisable, or should I simply invest my energies into the Dec LSAT? In short, would repeating the exam back to back like that look negatively on my application?

I think it depends on what score your trying to reach... a friend of mine, who is currently in law school , only spent 3 months studying. He scored a 156 using blueprint.. that being said he's not in a big name school nor is it terrible..

Similarly, I started studying towards the end of last month when I signed up for 7sage. I had planned on October yet in seeing how long it was taking me to work through the curriculum, I'm holding off for December. I have a crazy ambition of achieving a score near 170 lol

I was in a similar mind set as you thinking it was either October or nothing lol but just as @ mentions, if I want to be a lawyer, need to take this test seriously and do it with my full potential rather than half ass it to meet some time restraint ...

I say wait till December. It will do you wonders and will allow you to really let all the lessons sink in and allow you ample time to work through the prep tests which are going to be vital in prepping for the real thing.

I went through the panic dance, don't let it take over lol better to do your best than to half ass the start of your career lol breathe. Study. And everything else will fall into place :)

This would work perfectly into my schedule. When would you be starting though? I won't be in the PT phase for another 2 weeks ish.

@ I appreciate your help and support; seriously. It is so over whelming thinking about all of it. My uGPA was a 3.56, no where near extraordinary... and my first PT timed I got a 142. I'm almost two weeks behind my study schedule right now and that's why I'm concerned... I need the score to get into the great schools since I wasn't exactly super active in undergrad and don't have all the sparkles of the candidates that apply to those T14 schools ( nor do I have the money trees of a lot of their attendees). I know a lot of schools do rolling admissions which is what raises my stress-o-meter in racing to get things done ASAP; hence the reluctance of moving to the Dec test.

I've wanted to do law since I was 12, always been the dream plan. As I have gotten older it has only driven me more towards it. I hate the feeling of being unable to help people when things are going wrong (in a legal sense). Money is just a bonus, not a requirement. As long as I can keep up with bills and maintain a family I'm good.

In all honesty, at first I was super intimidated, and I will admit, afraid of going to law school. I'm in the process of studying up and going through this great program but fear I will not be ready for the October exam and taking it in December may completely ruin my chances of getting into a good school.... is it ridiculous to stress the big schools? I want to provide myself with the best opportunities I can create but also don't want to be in mountains of debt and blowing my brain up trying to get some crazy amazing score for Oct to go to one of the big league schools which I couldn't afford without a scholarship.... any suggestions? or advice?

Hey everyone! I hope the studies are going well. It seems most of you have quite the busy life lol

I was initially planning to write for October but with how long it has been taking me to work through the curriculum, I am feeling the December exam would be the smarter option. Packing on stress for a deadline of October isn't exactly helping my studying lol with that said, I expect to be starting the PT stage by about the august 17th area in which you guys are planning around. I would love to join your BR group whenever you guys get it up and running :) I just recently purchased the trainer as well so I am working on incorporating it into the current 7sage curriculum. :)

@ ya I'm in florida and here you can volunteer as a G.A.L. however, the G.A.L. program has attorneys that represent the volunteers during the hearings. G.A.L. volunteers have supervisors who assist with the whole process of filing paperwork to get things done for the kids. There just aren't enough people in the system to help with all the volume those offices have; it's horrible. =/

And thanks for the support for the book writing !

@ very cool that you wanna do the guardian ad litem ! I am currently a G.A.L (volunterer) down here in Florida and I must say, the system needs all the help it can get ! So power to you for going that route!

@ yesss, forget law school. I'm gonna fly dragons ♡ oh G.o.T. why must we be tortured every year =(

Now to answer the actual topic here lol I have hit a wall recently and am taking a break from studies and the law school idea for the moment... the financial aspect and how my future looks 10 years from now has me revalutating things a bit.. such as my desire to have a family and my emotional happiness lol I'm just around the corner from 25 so I kinda feel like I may just be pressurin myself to get something done (professional degree) bc I'm running out of time. So till then, I'm focusing on my fiction writing. Writing a book is at the top of my bucket list lol

However, if I go all in for law I would probably go into the IP aspect (copyright or tradmark) if not that I would do criminal law, I've always been drawn to it but obviously law school may turn things upside down and I end up in a branch of law that I had never even considered lol

@.hopkins thanks ! no worries I don't take it as an anti-gamer spiel. I guess its an odd area for me since I have always worked in hospitality so the level of professionalism does not come close to what is expected in an office setting. What I mostly want to convey is that I can be both people, the professional who works long hours and is willing to put in tons of hard work, but is also an imaginative, laid back, out-of-the-box, child at heart kind of person. Like I mentioned before, this is a whole new world for me and I'm still working on learning the in's and out's of it all. I am not sure how to represent myself in a way that allows me to stand out within the sea of suits that are already going to be present there. I have no background engaging with individuals like them so its uncharted territory and want to get as much info as I can before jumping into this pool. lol

@.hopkins I live in south florida so I signed up for the one taking place in Miami in September. I have never been to an event like this so not sure how packed it will be or what to expect... I have no idea how to network or what to say to the representatives of those schools... I am sure there will be a good amount of people there but also don't feel it would be impossible to try to talk to them..

Any suggestions on things I should consider before attending? For instance, what kind of research perhaps I should do in regards to the schools? I also want to stand out but not in a way that turns them off so to speak. Like all people, there are many facets to my personality and want them to see that not only am I a professional, but I am also a unique personality ( hence my wanting to wear my "gamers don't die, they respawn" tee under my blazer. lol ) but not sure where the line should be drawn etc..

@.busis Thank you for responding! I just purchased the course and look forward to going through the process. The hardest thing is getting started, as it is with most things. During the process of using the course, if we have any question or would like assistance in editing our letters, may we come to you ? Or is there a separate avenue in which we may acquire your assistance?

@.busis I am so happy to have come across this. I am in the midst of study havoc for the October and possibly December lsat but really want to get started on things like my personal statement etc. The only thing is I am not sure what or how to go about writing it. I never participated in extracurricular much until.my senior year of college and really started to get involved with thing like volunteering and what not until 2 yrs ago when my grandmother passed away.. Friends of mine have said that this is where I "sell myself " so to speak, but I've never been one to promote myself in a sense and not sure how to go about doing it...

Secondly, I feel it may be in my benefit to write a diversity statement but not sure how much to disclose in it... I'm a hispanic female, first in my immediate family to graduate from college and bisexual ( even though bisexuality amongst women almost goes unnoticed these days. Growing up in Cuban / Italian home made it a little difficult to say the least ...) and I was/am just below middle class...not sure how to go about working my quite stretching array of experiences into these two pieces of writing... any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated on the matter.

@ thanks for the response ! I am disappointed on not having the ability to network =/ here I was thinking of wearing my gamers respawn shirt with my blazer and dress pants to make me standout lol fail.

Did you find the forum to be useful ?

LSAC forum

Hey everyone,

Let me begin by saying how wonderful it is to have such a large student base to discuss concerns with. I stumbled upon this LSAC forum event taking place this fall near me and was curious if anyone else had gone to one ? They have a few events like discussing the application process etc. A big bonus to this event is that a lot of the law schools registered in LSAC are going to be present. With that, I felt it would be a great opportunity to not only get some extra pointers but to also network with the recruiters for these schools. Here's my problem though, I am one of those slow-to-warm-up kind of people and am not sure how to go about taking advantage of this opportunity. Any advice, suggestions or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated ! This whole thing is a new world for me and being that I won't be taking my first lsat until October makes it extra odd for me. (Seems a little difficult to network with schools I desire without giving them something to make me seem desirable) lol

Perhaps I misunderstood the information here, but, on my syllabus the old problem sets tab at the bottom seems to actually contain the new problem sets.. embedded in my curriculum are the old problem sets currently (I can only tell this because one of the practice sets was entirely from the video sample questions JY uses) Is anyone else having this happen? Is this normal for the time being? I was not sure if the change had already taken place or if the swap was going to happen later (within the week). I noticed the sets under the old problem sets tab actually contain more questions per set than those in embedded core curriculum (currently only containing 5 questions per set). I am currently working on the weakening questions problem sets which consists of 13 total sets of 5, while the tab with "old problem sets" has only 7 sets for the weakening questions section, each with about 10 if I recall correctly, per set.

@.hopkins wait.. so I am in a similar situation.. I am or was planning to test in October although I am still working my way through the curriculum ( relatively early on if I am being honest here) is it a bad idea to take the October exam? I was kind of planning to study up and do as much as I can until the exam comes up, take the exam and depending on my score, take it again in December. I just want to be able to apply as early as reasonably possible. A friend of mine currently in his 2nd yr in law school said alot of individuals with lower LSAT score and GPAs got in to schools over him because they applied early.. and he got a 156 on his LSAT.. I (ideally, although perhaps over-reaching) am aiming to get into the 160's, as close to 170 as possible..anything above 170 would be a delusional thought for me lol So in consideration of all of this, should I not take that October exam and rather just invest into the December one only? I want to be enrolled in the fall 2016 school yr and am concerned that by putting all my eggs in the December basket may prevent that from happening if my score is less than savory; so to speak (seeing as I would need to then take the feb exam). I do not wan to miss an opportunity by applying too late, especially if it may help me get into a great institution and, above all else, allow me to get a scholarship which I will desperately need...

Confirm action

Are you sure?
