I was wondering whether or not I needed to read Maurice's argument. As many have said, I think you can get away with not reading it. But the benefit to reading it could be that it helps you easily rule out answer choice D.

• The question is asking which strengthens Jane's argument.

• Answer choice D is the one that most closely reflects Maurice's argument.

• Maurice's argument is a rebuttal to Jane's.

• So it can't be the one that strengthens it.

I think in a time crunch, probably not worth the time it takes to read it. But if you were having a hard time answering the question, then maybe?

My hypothesis: some arguments are stronger than others because the support relationship between the premise(s) and conclusion removes a larger amount of ambiguity.
