LSAC changed my testing center 4 days before the test.

I got an email this morning telling me that "Due to circumstances beyond our control, you have been reassigned". First of all they reassigned me to a center which I don't like, since the desks are super small and rooms are crowded. Second, how do they think it's acceptable to just change you like that 4 days before the test without even consulting you first? Im debating on withdrawing from the test, I don't know what to do. I need advice.

@ Splendid! I do the same thing before a test haha. I jog, eat a nutritious breakfast, and go over LR, LG, and RC questions on my ipad in my car when I arrive at the testing place. I make sure I have some sort of goal to motivate me before I head in as well. I can attest that this definitely works!! I'm glad you feel confident as when I did this I hit my highest score so I'm sure you did great!

@ Go in there expecting not to use the stylus as it sucks big time. Although, sometimes the tablet won't respond to your finger, so have it close by.

@ First of all congrats on that 172! If you feel deep down that you could potentially do better on the November test, then take it. If you scored in the bottom range of your last 5 and feel like you can hit the high range of that average, then by all means!!

Free September retake?

I don't understand how the July 15 takers are supposed to get a free retake in September if the cancel options is not available yet and we cant see our scores until the 28th of August to see if we want to keep or cancel? Am I missing something? Can anyone please clarify?

@ Hey, I've been in your shoes before. I will give you my two cents for whatever its worth. I found I do the best in RC when I do not necessarily focus on all the minute detail and read a bit slower. The more time I take on the passage the faster I can go through the questions. You're missing questions either because you didn't fully understand what the stim was asking you, your'e missing key details from the passage, you're fell for traps. The main thing that I do now is run down the passage at regular speed and understand the structure first; e.g. The first paragraph states a problem, the second paragraph shows proponents view, third attacks proponents view, fourth calls for alternative action. Then I skim the passage and try to gather little key details I might have missed on my first run down. If you know the structure of the passage you can find the answers to questions that ask you to recall the passage in a more time efficient manner.

@ There is one question you have to ask yourself in terms of taking a break. Are you doing the studying half-heartedly, if yes then take a break. If not then continue studying. Thats how I gauge my own decision on wether or not to take a break. I also found that I do much better after taking a break and coming back to it. When you keep forcing yourself to do it when you aren't excited or fully committed, you will start to dread the LSAT and that is a major downward spiral. Like many have said before me, the LSAT is a marathon not a sprint. You can't cram for it, and your mind continues to process what you've learned even when you aren't studying. Give you brain some breathing room. If you're asking this question on the forum that means that you should definitely take a break.

@ Well I started taking college classes when I was in high school, then community college and finally my degree granting university. I have many classes under my belt and I guess when you take all of that into account, it hits and hits hard lol.

@ SA->Conclusion->NA : to not get duped ask yourself if the overall conclusion of the argument IS true does that specific answer choice HAVE to be true. If it HAS to be true then thats your answer, if it doesn't then its not. Sufficient assumptions prove the conclusion 100% true is the most ironclad answer choice you can find for that purpose. The correct NA answer choice doesn't need a powerful answer like SA answers.

@ I don't see why one would need to use a pen for the LSAT. But, the pen works like a regular ball point blue pen. Its nothing extraordinary but it gets the job done.

@ I found I do best on RC when : 1. I don't do RC for a while and 2. Understand the structure of the passage not necessarily every little detail. If I reach desperation and see that the passage is dense and I won't be able to absorb what I need, I will read very very slowly like elementary school speed. Its not preferable but if I go slow on the passage I fly through the questions. Good Luck on test day!

@ From my experience I had to attach the LOR's before sending it in, I don't believe there was an option to attach them after. However, depending on your application situation, the school might put your application on hold. If it is on hold and hasn't been marked as complete (for reasons like future LSAT date or missing documents), i'm sure you can send the LOR's before they actually start the review process. In either case, I would suggest you contact the school since the process of review falls on them and they might make an exception in your case. Good Luck!

@ As @ already said, at this point get your inferences and accuracy down. As your proficiency regarding LG increases, the faster your times will become without you even realizing it. For example, an artist that understand anatomy can draw the body of a person quicker, and with less mistakes. An artist that does not have a sufficient understanding of anatomy will draw and erase, make more mistakes, which lead to backtracking and wasting time.

@ Answer is C? Assuming it is C, the other answers were fairly easy to eliminate but great job on formulating the question. I feel like this is a great example of a NA question for people trying to understand NA question types. For answer choice C I feel like leaving it at "Eating foods high in calories will raise one's trans-fat levels" would be better but thats just my opinion. Great job again though, well done!

@ I score -0 on LG and I almost never check my answers. I'm very confident on all LG picks. Most of the time I can find the answer just by looking at the answer choices. For me, this came from doing all the LG's available to us. MBT questions you only have one thats a solid pick. If you have all your gameboard solutions down then you can easily tell what the answer is.

Do LSAT writers re-use questions for LR?

While I am in the progress of attempting all the PrepTests and i'm nearing completion, I swear that I have seen the same questions in other tests or similar reiterations of such. Am I delusional at this point, or is there some type of validity in what I'm seeing?

@ I would say keep them until the end. I have taken every PT from 10 up multiple times, including the India PT's and I can't stress how frustrating it is not having fresh tests. Keep them until the end to gauge your actual performance.

@ People that usually pressed for time are individuals that either don't know the material well enough or start panicking from the first question. Once you start to panic and begin thinking about time management from the first question you will waste more time because your mind will go into fight or flight mode so you won't be able to analyze to the best of your abilities. I would suggest take your time and calmly read the stimulus so you retain what you need to retain and keep that groove going throughout the exam. You will be surprised how much time you will save but it will feel like you're going slow. The same can go for RC, when you take your time with the passage, you will fly through the questions thus efficiently using your time. Check the time when you are halfway only once, and when you near the end of the section. If you are putting too much emphasis on the time, your mind will be more or less half focused on what you really need to be focusing on, which is the actual test material.

Preptesting Frequency

I usually take 1 preptest and BR everyday with an occasional 1 or 2 day break, and was wondering what other 7Sagers preptesting and BR scheduling is like. Sometimes I feel like i'm doing too much, but it might just be relative.

@ Sounds to me that you still have some room for perfecting LR. In a convoluted stimulus someone can get lost easily. What I do in that scenario is kind of work backwards. I would find the conclusion(s) and THEN see how and if its supported. That help me out when I don't understand. I also kind of talk to myself and simplify the stimulus into my own words. The writers will say like : "The red ball, which is round, and has a smooth surface, hit the backboard." But all you really need to know is that the red ball hit the backboard. They do it a lot of it trips people up. For NA I just find the answer choice that HAS to be true if the conclusion is true. As far as for misreading, there is not really much you can do but pay more attention. After you do many LR sections you start automatically paying attention to the words that mean something and the ones that don't. For example, when I begin reading the stimulus and come across "usually", "tend to" or the quantifiers like some or most I already know that these are generally important because the incorrect answer choices usually play on them to try and trick you obviously. You have to know if you're dealing with question types that you need concrete answers for or ones that are provable. You have to know what you're looking for so the incorrect answers wont mess you up. When I finish reading a stimulus and have some type of idea of what i'm looking for depending on whether its an argument or just premises, I can knock out more than half the answers by just the first two words alone. I hope this helps somewhat, if i missed something or need clarification let me know! Good Luck!!

Tips needed from LG high scorers!

The section I have the most trouble on is Logic Games, Ive drilled and fool proofed many many games but I still end up missing around 5-7 questions on preptests. If I can improve on my LG I will be borderline at 170. I was wondering if any 7sagers, that score high on the LG sections, can provide any tips and/or insight on how they study or approach LG sections. Thank you in advance!!
