The rules JY can put right onto the gameboard he tends not to represent formally. Personally, I try to jot them all down in my former rules because I don't like risking forgetting about them, but that's just me. As you do a ton of practice you'll find what works for you.

Gift ideas for Recommenders

Does anyone have suggestions of gift to say thanks to recommenders? I saw an old post suggesting a mug from the school you got into. Idk if I'd want to be on the receiving end of a mug from a random school lol

LSAC sucks.

I submitted my request for accommodations almost a month ago. LSAC's website says they'll get back to you within 8-10 business days but it may take longer... aka they can take however long they want. We all know best practice is to study and prep as close to how test day will be. But if I don't know if my request will be honored I can't prep. LSAC sucks. They don't gaf about accommodated students. They don't even respond to my emails.

I've had to break down a TON of mental barriers to even study for the lsat. I decided I wanted to go to law school 4 years ago. I ordered some test prep book. Rather than study during the time I had set aside, I'd get on youtube. I was so afraid of facing failure that (subconsciously) I decided it would be easier to not study than to study and face failure. I couldn't even take a diagnostic. Too scared to see what would happen. I slowly gained confidence as I realized the irrational/unhelpful self beliefs I got from my childhood. Over the course of this journey I've learned

keep studying consistently no matter what

no matter what school we end up attending, we all learn the exact same thing

I always remind myself law school is a business. No matter what my score is, someone is gonna let me in somewhere. That takes pressure off!

affirmations are super helpful

stop/start breaks are the single most useful accommodation for test anxiety. they allow me to stop and breathe. I can stop as many times as I need to. it was a game changer for me and I got a score I never thought i was even capable of. Now I'm shooting for even higher! Go me!

done is better than perfect

You've got this.

Yeah I wish the video would have gone into it rather than referring us to PSA content.

Accommodation that really helps with test anxiety

I took the LSAT in October. I can get out of my mind anxious when I'm testing, to the point that I can't comprehend what I've even reading. I call it "seeing white". Anyway, I have stop/start breaks and I can't tell you how much it helped. I was able to stop the clock and swivel my chair around at any point during the test and just breathe. It wasn't even for a whole minute every time. I would just close my eyes, breath, and ground myself. I have a list of affirmations I've written I read to myself leading up to testing. During the test I'd say the ones to myself I remembered and it was super helpful. Anxiety freaking sucks and I know i'm not the only one who struggles so wanted to pass this along. Say what you will about my cheesy affirmations, everyone JY interviews who scores high talks about how important mental health is during this process. 🤓

Still no availability after checking a bunch yesterday and nothing this morning. I can't be the only one having issues? Or do most people just take it remotely?

October LSAT No Seats Available LSAC Sucks

According to LSAC a ton of people have signed up for October. I've been checking and refreshing to sign up for a seat in a testing center. I'm required to test at a testing center because I'm taking it pen/paper. I've searched for slots all over my state and even into the next closest state but it's not showing any availability. LSAC gave me Prometric's phone number. I've called and been disconnected every time. I called LSAC and they're like, meh, we can't help you, call them back. It's so frustrating. When I asked them point blank if I'm guaranteed a spot if I've paid and sign up they say no, that it's first come, first serve. And I asked them if, worst case, I don't get a spot, will I get my money back, they said no. How is that possible? Like you can't give a company your money and be denied the product? I will continue to refresh but LSAC sucks.

Can someone explain why Robert's superior "reasonability" serve as a NA rather than sufficient assumption? I think I'm getting confused because I think of NA as being inherent. Something more like "Robert is the best on the debate team at reasonability". Or at least that he's better than Britta. AC C just feels so much more necessary assumption-y.

If you're like me and will always carry the "what if I would have" thought, then just retake it. But I agree with @alexhgantt28's comment above that you're probably good to go.

Help with RC 'main idea' q's

I know I'm wrong, but I look for answers that would nicely summarize the passage. PT10 passage 2 for example is comparing two styles of art: Venetian and Tuscan. I immediately eliminated AC's that only mention one or the other style as this didn't seem like a good summary (trust me, I get that I'm really missing the mark here). The correct AC was [first sentence of second paragraph] something to the effect of the author's main complaint about an art critic's view. The first paragraph, to me, seemed to be exclusively about comparing and contrasting the two art styles. I focused on being able to distinguish between the two. I missed the subtlety of the author's viewpoint-- that the art critic was presenting a view at all.

Whereas the incorrect AC I selected was literally just a true factoid found within the passage that happened to include both "Venetian" and "Tuscan". I am missing out on the big picture. I know it's very intuitive for many. I am very focused on structure and content, so I overlook other important aspects of the passage.

I have paper accommodation and was able to take it live proctored in February. However, since then LSAC has changed things (again 🙄) and you have to take it at a testing center. The only way you can take it paper and pen via proctor is by applying for "extenuating circumstances".

@harrisons92289 That's really helpful, thanks. Did take the time to foolproof each game (is that what you mean by brute forcing)? Did you watch JY's video BEFORE attempting? Or try it on your own and watch if you needed help?

0

Oftentimes when I watch JY's explanations, I feel like 'wow I never would have made that inference on my own' or I still don't understand at all. So I obviously need work but I'm not sure how to approach my Games practice. When I fool proof, I tend to feel like I'm memorizing and just brain dumping versus practicing and making inferences on my own. I need a 'Games for Dummies' guide-- a really straightforward approach for a neurodiverse brain, as someone who Games are not intuitive whatsoever. I've done the CC and I practice memorizing logic rules a few times a week, so not knowing the basics isn't the issue. I try to set up the games without watching JY's videos and sometimes I do really well--I often solve it using a different approach than JY takes. And sometimes I'm solving 5/5 difficulty on my own and they feel like a breeze. But other times, I get pretty stuck on one of the questions and I end up having to watch the video for support. But when I do that, I feel like I miss out on the practice of making inferences for myself and I really need that practice. Comment if games aren't exactly intuitive for you and tell me what has worked!

Q22, answer B is wrong because the question isn't asking if wine removes lipids from the bloodstream. The question is asking if removing lipids from the bloodstream would prevent pm heart disease. So obviously B would help.

In the lesson about and/or sufficiency splits, JY says we split the 'or'. But in another lesson we learn that two sufficient conditions pointing to one necessary is an invalid argument. So i'm confused why it's okay to split the 'or' sufficiency. Can someone please dumb that down for me?
