As far as I am aware, denying an alternative hypothesis is just one of the ways to strengthen a causal claim. Another way to strengthen a causal argument is to make the experimental conditions seem more ideal (which Answer Choice B does by illustrating a control group). 8:50 is the timestamp where you see the example is modified to contrast both of these ways you can strengthen a claim.
