Sufficient Assumption- Looking for advice

Hey 7 Sage community,

I have been trying to improve my timing strategies in LR overall but one thing I noticed I've been doing during timed section runs is skipping the sufficient assumption questions that show up deep in the section that often incorporate a few conditional statements/ formal logic. Usually during BR, I get them correct but I noticed during timed pressure my nerves kick in when I realize I'll have to diagram it all and I have other questions to do. (Same usually applies for certain par/par-flaw)

I've been working on getting more comfortable with cookie cutter argument structures and diagramming but I was wondering what else I could do to build more confidence.

I was also curious what practical steps I could take to get to the level of not having to diagram at all.

Do top scorers just see it all in their heads? It gets really hard for me to keep track of everything in terms of comprehension until I can see the structure laid out in lawgic.

I can't seem to figure out a way to keep these questions under 2 minutes and its been frustrating. I'd love to turn these into a strength as I like how they can be reliable points.

I would appreciate any insight.

Thank you!!

LSAT Flex- Using a touch laptop

Does anyone know if we can use a laptop like the Microsoft Go to utilize the touch features and to orient the screen similar to the tablet experience? Also, when using a laptop, is there a way to choose which webcam proctorU will use if you have multiple options? I was told the proctors need to have a certain field of view so they can see you at all times so I was curious if we could disable the front facing one and use a third party / usb attached webcam so we can lay our laptops in a way some of us might be more comfortable with.

Thank you for any insight! :)

If the conclusion is true, what must be true? Filter down to 2 and use negation technique if necessary.

Like @ often says, the games are won during the set-up. Make sure you are fundamentally sound in this regard. If you are "choking" during the questions, it usually is a sign you aren't setting up the games in a way that works for you / representing the rules efficiently. Second, I would recommend having a consistent process. Everything from when and how you read the stimulus & rules to how and where you diagram things should be down to a science IMHO. This also includes how you approach the questions themselves. Everything from leaving room for diagrams, having your own marks to be able to see valid previous game boards and every other nuance that helps you solve questions should be consistent from game to game. It also includes the sequence of how you proceed from question to question to a priority list of thigns to do when you approach specific question types. Find out what works for you and do it consistently and in the same way. I think analyzing this step is critical because fool-proofing often masks a lot of your own deficiencies since you've seen the solution before. Inferences are important but how do you get to the point where you can make the inferences on your own when you've never seen the game? Memorization, repetition and familiarization helps but only to a certain degree. For example, early on in my prep I would watch the video and see how the game was set-up. In my FP process, since I was familiar with the game, I would find myself mindlessly replicating what I knew from previous experience without critically thinking about what I was reading. I was tripping over my own feet- jotting down game board pieces half way through reading the stimulus, not critically thinking about the hidden rules that signal the best way to approach the games, etc. Since I already knew what I was going to do, my mind often went on auto-pilot.These steps might be easy to overlook when fool-proofing but you often won't have this luxury when you are taking a test you've never seen before so make sure to think it through and practice building these skills into your process even if it seems redundant. Doing the game doesn't just mean being able to solve it but also extracting what was important to getting to that point if it was your ideal first take. My biggest advice would be to go back to the CC to make sure you are 100% solid on your foundational skills. The LSAT presents us LG games in English but often the key to simplifying them is to lean on visual representations to sort the mayhem. The CC will expose you to different ways this is done so think about why the Jedi Master.... I mean JY :) .... does things a certain way and why- Add these to your arsenal so you have a variety of methods to express the common ways the writers express things to us in ways that is easier for you to digest. My second major advice would be to read critically. You want to measure carefully and cut once. Sorry for the long answer but hope this will help shine light for you and anyone else reading. Happy studies fellow Jedi.

LORD NEVERMORE. Thank you

Does anybody know which PT's the core curriculum uses for the logical reasoning questions? ( Only the questions with the videos and not the problem sets) I also wanted to know if it used all the questions from those exams or just individual ones.

I perused through them and it seems like PT's 30-35 but I wasn't quite sure. I'm trying to budget my "untouched" exams and was curious how I should best use the early 30's. I'm aware I can manually just check but I wasn't sure if this was public knowledge already as it would save me a lot of time.

I'd appreciate any insight!

Happy studying fellow Jedi

Reviewing LR- PTs 50s-60s

Hello 7 Sage community,

Is there anyone that would be willing to work on reviewing LR sections from the 50's and 60's?

I am looking for someone to verbalize reasoning structure with to help build good habits. I lose mental discipline sometimes and get lured into AC's that isn't affecting the heart of the reasoning in critical arguments. My tutor forces me to articulate this when reviewing and I've found it helpful to find holes in my approach.

Please let me know if interested. My schedule is flexible.

Thank you!

What a ride Josh! Thank you for sharing the journey with us. Reading your journal has served as a huge motivator for me while studying for the LSAT as it reminds me what I'm working towards and what it takes at that level of academia and success. To me, if there's one commonality between your law school and LSAT journey so far, its just the sheer work ethic that's required and I use that as a reminder everyday. It almost felt as if you were frantically trying to keep your head above water the entire semester and its helped me develop a sense of urgency and adaptability in my life and LSAT preparation- I see it as just a taste of what will be required of me if I ever make it to that level.

With the importance of test taking strategy in doing well on exams, why does it fall more into the sufficient realm over necessary in regards to receiving high distinction? My takeaway after thinking about your insight was rather the opposite due to the severe restrictions of the exams. It seems like both knowledge and ,more importantly, strategy are necessary components to exam success. Can you elaborate more on that thought? Wishing you, your doggo & family a wonderful holiday season. I hope you will be able to take some time for yourself before the next semester. You are an inspiration sir! Thank you for all you do for the community. Cheering for you all the way in sunny California.

My prephrase was what if accuracy on most important question for viewers =/= more useful and reliable than the competition? I went into the answers hoping to find an answer that said more accuracy means more reliable than competitors. Is this not the right thinking? I'm having a lot of trouble adjusting my weaken analysis into Strengthen for some reason. I'd appreciate any help. #help

1-35 is good. Maybe do up to 40 as the 28-38 series has some of the hardest games and really pushes you to develop good skills. There's also word that they're bringing elements of these old games back so I think there's a lot of value to be reaped. Good luck!

Another alternative to the alarm clock is just getting Phillip Hue color lights and using the Sleep Cycle app. They sync together and 30 minutes before the alarm goes off the lights slowly start to turn on. It emulates the rise of the sun in the same way and is a great way to spice up your sleeping / waking up routine. In general though, just sleep a little earlier everyday until you can adjust it as you need. Incremental change will make it more manageable.

@ Nailed it. Its hard to truly emulate testing conditions but one potential key factor is bringing certain elements with you. Im sort of a weird hippie and crystals and religious ornaments tend to have a great impact on settling my nerves and anxiety. I like keeping small ones in my pocket in the same way I do when I study at home. I think essential oils and other ways to activate the olfactory- neuro connection is also underrated. I like studying while being immersed under certain scents and think it could help to bring them with you to help activate some of these connections you build. ( apply essential oils to your wrist or waft from a tissue)

Make sure to distinguish the flaw question stem, "vulnerable to criticism" , with weakening question stems. I got these two mixed up when I began studying.

7Sage LG Videos : Post Nov

Hi 7Sage community ,

I joined the community to have access to the games videos that were going to be taken down but I swear I read somewhere on this site that we would need Premium and up once they are removed. Unfortunately I can't seem to find where I read that to verify. Can anyone confirm that premium is needed?

Thank you :)
