Hi there! Looking for a study partner in Upstate NY for Sept. 2014 LSAT.
Still new to studying for the LSAT, just started in April/May.
I was able to bypass the 502 error code by clearing cookies and cache's from my browsers. I would recommend doing this for multiple browsers, and starting with at least clearing a week's worth. I then restarted my laptop and was able to access 7sage again. If you struggle with internet connectivity issues in addition to the 502 error messages, I would recommend a computer/laptop restart. I am not a computer expert at all, but these steps helped me.
Hi: I just finished the sufficient assumption section, but failed all the quiz questions. I'm having trouble grasping the subject matter. I know it should not matter what the questions are 'discussing' but when I read about a subject I have no knowledge on, I feel as if the question then becomes 90% more difficult than it already was. Any advice on this? Also, I'm pushing my test date back from September to December, and that is a total of 7 months studying, about two hours per day. Do most people simply complete these lessons pronto and move on? I'm having great difficulty piecing these sections together. My last performance on the SA section has given me great cause for concern.

When you guys first started studying, pre-7sage, what were some of the scores? I scored stupid low on my very first time ever LSAT, and I'm worried that I won't be able to improve enough to get into a 'mediocre' law school...never having done an LSAT before, I scored 138...second time I took a different reading comp section again, and with only the reading comp scores added back in, I would have gotten at least 143, even if the other sections remained the same. How do you know if you've got what it takes at all? Feeling seriously flustered over this.
I got this question wrong as well, I chose "E" instead of "D". After listening to the video I also came to the conclusion that this question for me at least, would have been better answered through the process of elimination.
J.Y. explains why "D" is the correct answer and he does it quite well. Let me attempt to offer my own explanation as to why "D" is correct, because I have no where near the expertise of J.Y. and was still left with feeling as if I need to return to grade school. Here it is:
Answer A (Engle NEVER discusses or implies an issue with the double-blind study. It seems to me he simply accepts the method of study, but disagrees as to the results, which is different than efficacy..why choose this? Move on).
Answer B (Engle is not denying the drugs efficacy but rather the process of administering the drug).
Answer C (Similar in my opinion to A; Engle does not isolate placebo versus the drug being tested neither does McKinley. I felt this question was just way off focus).
Answer D (Ding Ding, we have a winner!) This answer threw me off guard with the word "therapeutic". I would have analyzed this better had "Therapeutic" been replaced with hypothetical, anticipated, hypothesized...anything but that.
Answer E (My initial choice). I assumed, quite incorrectly, that Engle's interpretation of McKinley's perspective was based off of McKinley's making an assumption that the drug would not be in some way 'efficacious' because it would yield results that are inconsistent with the method of study, ie, the double blind study.
Like this post or hate, I did my best to explain this how I could rationalize this in my head.
