So I was going to pick E...but then figured that they meant that the two organisms before undergoing endosymbiosis together, had done it separately which would then have meant that when they came together there would have been 4 variations of the gene in 'the plant'...I find that sometimes I initially consider the correct answer but don't understand the english behind the concept correctly and mess up...how do I get better this?

So I only got this one right during blind review bc I initially skipped it during the timed session, and even then I was left to guess between C and E and went with my gut feeling for C. Anyways...I actually began to solve this by attributing variable denotations to the words to view the logic being explained symbolically through XYZ. So like the first sentence "the end of an action is the intended outcome of an action" A=B..."and not a mere by-product of the action" A-->B....and etc....I dont rlly know if this would rlly help others bc it might be confusing but if anything it might help just to see it visually...to understand it and keep track of what is being said...I doubt Id be able to do this during a timed session though..maybe others will
