Hi 7sagers!

In this session we will be covering basically anything LSAT related you want! Just bring your questions and I'll (hopefully) have answers! Feel free to bring a specific LR, RC, or LG question and we'll go over them together. Or we can just talk about section strategy. Whatever you want to do!

I have gone through the 7sage CC twice, taken over 90% of the PTs out there, and scored a 173 on the November LSAT. My diagnostic was a 138. I've struggled immensely with this test, and I can show you how I overcame these obstacles.

In this session, we'll cover topics on:

-Whatever you want!

A few additional things I want to mention so we can all get the most out of the session:

Please refrain from looking at the correct answer choices when we are going through problems. It is to your benefit to be unaware so you can learn!

Please make sure your microphone is on mute during the session, unless you are the person volunteering to help answer a question.

I will be asking for volunteers throughout the session. If you would like to volunteer, please type it in the chat box.

The session will last around two hours, questions unrelated to the topic at hand should be saved until the end.

If you learned something helpful, all I ask for payment is that you share the knowledge with others that could be struggling. After all, we rise by lifting others up.

Let me know if ya'll have any questions. Hope to see you there!

Chris Nguyen is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Core Curriculum Version 2 (Open Beta)

Hey 7Sagers!

We're launching the beta version of the new Core Curriculum which teaches Logical Reasoning more efficiently and effectively! If you're curious, go to your account settings via this link: https://classic.7sage.com/account/?try_v2=1

  • Under "Profile Settings," put a checkmark on "Try new curriculum (beta)"
  • Click "Save Changes"
  • Click "Syllabus" and you'll be looking at the beta version!
  • Remember, this version is still undergoing beta testing. You may come across a few quirks or notice some features from Version 1 that aren't quite yet integrated. We're doing our best to fully switch over, and we appreciate your patience as our team makes the switch!

If you want to learn more, you can watch this YouTube video:

💡 Below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions regarding Version 2. If your question isn't answered on this forum post, then feel free to comment and ask below! For now, please keep all questions regarding the new Core Curriculum on this thread. If you have any feedback regarding Version 2, we'd love to hear it, too!

    So...what's the difference?

CCv2 (Core Curriculum Version 2) presents LR through a more streamlined and unified theoretical framework. It's not completely different from CCv1, but we've thoroughly explained LR in CCv2. The RC and LG lessons of both CCv1 and CCv2 are the same.

The new core lessons use LR questions from PrepTests 61-65, so if you're down to your last few clean PTs and they happen to be those, then this probably isn't for you. But if you're not worried about running out of clean PTs, then this is a great opportunity to see what we've been cooking up!

Can I switch back to Version 1 if I want to?

Yes! If you would like to switch back to the old Core Curriculum, scroll to the top of our "Syllabus" page and click the "Switch to V1" button. It's next to the "Collapse" button.

    Should I immediately switch?

We think yes. Since Version 2 teaches Logical Reasoning more efficiently and effectively, we recommend switching to CCv2 completely. Please note that the RC and LG lessons of both CCv1 and CCv2 are the same. What's changed are the Foundations and Logical Reasoning lessons. Additionally, the new lessons use LR questions from PrepTests 61-65, so if you're down to your last few clean PTs and they happen to be those, then this probably isn't for you. But if you're not worried about running out of clean PTs, then this is a great opportunity to see what we've been cooking up!

I've already completed Version 1. Should I go back and redo Version 2?

In this situation, the best way to utilize Version 2 is to look at which question types in your analytics you think you should prioritize, and then view the new lessons for that question type. For example, if your analytics say that you should prioritize Sufficient Assumption questions, then go study and review the new lessons on Sufficient Assumptions.

Version 2 is shorter than Version 1. Should I be worried?

Not at all! JY has explained the Logical Reasoning lessons in Version 2 in a more efficient manner. The RC and LG sections are still the same.

I'm around halfway through LR in Version 1. Should I switch over to Version 2 to complete LR, or should I stick with Version 1?

With where Version 2 is right now, we think you'll get the most out of your studies by switching over. There's no need to redo modules that you've already done, unless you find yourself needing a refresher, but we think that Version 2 approaches LR in a more unified theoretical framework, which can help with your learning process!

    I can't find CCv2 in my Syllabus!

Email our student services and let them know (studentservice@7sage.com). They can switch your account on the back end.

Are the lessons in CCv2 fully complete?

Yes! CCv2 is fully complete and you can use it without switching back to CCv1.

Why are there no video lessons for the Foundation lessons?

JY is currently in the process of recording video lessons for the Foundation lessons. Stay tuned for updates on their availability!

    Hi 7sagers!

Happy to announce session number 3 of these free tutoring series! We will be covering LR flaw question strategy. It will be Sunday November 1st at 7pm EST.

I have gone through the 7sage CC twice, taken over 90% of the PTs out there, and am currently scoring in the low 170s. My diagnostic was a 138. I've struggled immensely with this test, and I can show you how I overcame these obstacles.

In this session, we'll cover topics on:

-How to approach flaw questions under timed conditions

-How to actively read and engage with flaw questions

-Why anticipating what the correct answer choice could be is helpful, but why you still need to be careful when doing so.

-How you can still get these questions correct even when you don't anticipate what the flaw is.

We will be using questions from the free diagnostic LSAT test provided on the LSAC website. This session will be helpful for students that recently completed the flaw CC, or are in the PT phase of their studies and is struggling with Flaw Questions.

If this session goes well, I'd be open to hosting more free sessions! Please let me know what topics you'd like to discuss at a future session in the poll below. See you there!

    Hi 7sagers!

In this session we will be covering LR Skipping Strategy. It will be Saturday, November 28th at 7pm EST.

I have gone through the 7sage CC twice, taken over 90% of the PTs out there, and scored a 173 on the November LSAT. My diagnostic was a 138. I've struggled immensely with this test, and I can show you how I overcame these obstacles.

In this session, we'll cover topics on:

-Why skipping is so important yet extremely counterintuitive.

For this session, please complete a timed section of PT40 LR1, and bring the timing breakdown with you. We'll be discussing how to best go about attempting the section under timed conditions and what section strategies you could've implemented to increase your score. Because of LSAT copyright licensing, I can't share my screen for this PT, so please have your own copy!

Note: This session will be most helpful for students who have completed the core curriculum and are on the PT phase of their LSAT studies. This session is not geared towards students who are still on the core curriculum.

A few additional things I want to mention so we can all get the most out of the session:

Please refrain from looking at the correct answer choices when we are going through problems. It is to your benefit to be unaware so you can learn!

    138 to 173

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank 7sage and everyone on these forums for being so helpful, inclusive, and encouraging. Especially my awesome tutor @Sami, and my intelligent and hard working study buddies @DINOSAUR and @jmarmaduke96.

This test was a huge struggle for me, and studying for it made me confront weaknesses in myself that I honestly didn't want to. I wish I could tell you that this test was easy, but it wasn't. There was no gradual improvement, it was more like a zig zag of ups and downs. But if your diagnostic was in the 130s like mine, I want to tell you that it's possible to increase your score.

  • How RC is different from LR
  • Why improving RC seems hard, but is very achievable.
  • (This session is more focused on students who are struggling with understanding the passages. We will have another session discussing the questions another time)
  • We will be using passages from the free diagnostic LSAT test provided on the LSAC website. This session will be helpful for students that recently completed the RC core curriculum, or are in the PT phase of their studies and is struggling with RC.

Where v2 is right now, we think you'll get the most out of your studies by switching over. There's no need to redo modules that you've already done, unless you find yourself needing a refresher, but we think that v2 approaches LR in a more unified theoretical framework, which can help with your learning process!

That's a great question. We designed these drills to be open ended because it's just reality that some people just need more time on drilling and some people will less . In the end, it's up to you to decide when you should move on. I'd ask yourself "Do I think I would be confident answering at least medium difficulty questions of this type if it were to show up on a timed LSAT?" If the answer is yes, then you can probably move on. If the answer is no, you should probably stay on it for a bit longer. If you find yourself spending a ton of time on that question type though, it might be best to take a break and come back to it. You are in charge of your own studies, so ultimately, it's up to you to make that decision.

Bumping this! Happening in a few minutes!

    Hi 7sagers!

For this session, we are having a guest speaker! @DINOSAUR is a 7sager with PTs averaging in the 170s. English was her foreign language. We have been study buddies for a few months now, and her strategies and approach has helped me immensely in understanding the LSAT - she's amazing! We are going to discuss her struggles, strategies, and advice to approach this test as a student who grew up speaking a foreign language. Although this webinar is geared more towards ESL students, I think it will be helpful for all students to attend (the LSAT is a foreign language to everyone, let's be real).

We'll be going over a passage from the June 2007 PT to see how she approaches the passage and how she learned to read complex grammar and hard sentences. It will be Friday, November 20th at 7pm EST. Please comment below if you're interested!

Let me know if ya'll have any questions. Hope to see you there!

    Hey there!

So there was definitely a time in my studies that I started doing really well on 4/5 star questions and not so great on 1-3 star questions. Unfortunately, it could be a number of issues that's causing this. One of my issues was that I I was taking easier questions for granted and skimming through them, not really understanding what I was reading.

Your issue might be that. Or it might not. In fact, it might not have anything to do with the question being a 3 star question (correlation doesn't imply causation right?). I can play a guessing game right now and tell you the tons of common issues it might be, but the only one that can really answer what's going on is you. Your job is to come up with hypotheses, test those hypotheses, and then when you're satisfied, come up with a plan to fix the issue.

Here are some questions you can ask and things you can do below to help you out:

-What exactly went down under timed conditions?

It's important to know the play by play so you have information you need to diagnose what's going on. Let's say you found out you eliminated the correct answer choice. That gives you a clue on the question you need to ask yourself next. "Why did I eliminate the correct answer choice?"

Side note - If you're having trouble remembering exactly what went down, I recommend screen recording yourself during a timed section and re-watching the LR questions that you had an issue with.

-Am I doing something different when I attempt 4/5 star questions?

Answering this question will tell you if the question difficulty influences at all how you're approaching the question, and whether it is something you should look into in depth, or it's something entirely different.

Once you figure out the problem, then your next step is to create a plan to fix this problem. For me it was to tell myself to chill out, slow down, and make a hard rule to never go into the answer choices if I don't have an understanding of how the premises are giving support to the conclusion.

That plan might help for you. But it also might not. It just depends on what the issue is in the first place. Hopefully, this can get you started in diagnosing your own issues.

Btw - this is exactly what we help students with in 7Sage's tutoring program. It's not just about how to find the correct answer. It's about helping you diagnose the issues in your thought process, and coming up with ways to fix it. We don't fish for you. We teach you how to fish.

If you're interested in learning more, you can schedule a free 30-minute consult with one of our tutors here: https://calendly.com/7sage-consult/7sage-tutoring-free-consult?utm_source=DF_C

    Hi 7sagers!

I'm hosting a free tutoring session on Necessary Assumptions this Sunday 10/18 at 6pm EDT. If you're interested, please comment below!

I have gone through the CC twice, taken over 90% of the PTs out there, and am currently scoring in the low 170s. My diagnostic was a 138. I've struggled immensely with this test, and I can show you how I overcame these obstacles.

Recently, I took the August LSAT administration and received a 164 (Unfortunately, I had proctor issues and did not perform well on the test. LSAC offered me a refund, but I wouldn't know my score if I took it. So, I decided I wanted to know my score and did not take the refund).

We will be using problems from the free diagnostic LSAT test provided on the LSAC website. This session will be helpful for students that just completed the necessary assumption core curriculum, or are in the PT phase of their studies and are struggling with NA questions.

If you are interested in joining, please comment below!

If this session goes well, I'd be open to hosting more free sessions! Please let me know what topics you'd like to discuss at a future session in the poll below. See you there!

    EDIT:

A few things I want to mention so we can all get the most out of this session:

Please refrain from looking at the correct answer choices when we are going through problems. It is to your benefit to be unaware what the correct answer choice is during the learning process.

Please make sure your microphone is on mute during the session, unless you are the person volunteering to help answer a question.

I will be asking for volunteers throughout the session. If you would like to volunteer, please type it in the chat box.

The session will last two hours, and will end at 8pm EDT.

If you learned something helpful here, all I ask for payment is that you share the knowledge with others that could be struggling. After all, we rise by lifting others up.

Let me know if ya'll have any questions. Looking forward to tonight! Hope to see you there.

@ I'm a slow reader too, so I can really relate to that. How much time do you spend on average reading a passage? Usually, the time I spend reading a passage is fairly stagnant, but there are strategies you can use to eliminate any non-essential work to get your reading time down a little bit. Not everything you read in the passage is important, but if you read as if it is, then your passage time will suffer. Learn skills on how to identify what you need to pay attention to (i.e. author's attitude) and what you don't (i.e. usually small supporting details) to eliminate that non-essential work and get your passage time down.

For me, I usually take about 4 minutes reading the passage. That leaves about 40 seconds on average per question, so I have to be aggressive through the questions. But the way I read the passage allows me to be confident and choose the correct answer choice without having to go back to the passage very often. If you're spending too much time on the questions, you might want to consider reflecting on if that time was essential or not. Very often when I was studying, out of anxiety I would go back and confirm what I read in the passage when I essentially knew I had the right answer, because I "just wanted to be sure." Obviously this time was wasted time in the end and I had to practice eliminating that wasted effort from my process.

I hope this helps you on your journey! Let me know if I can clarify anything.

    Greetings 7Sagers!

We're inviting you to join us every Wednesday, from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm EDT for a dedicated study session!

Most study groups are a lot of socializing and not a lot of actual work. That might be good for your mental health, but not so much for your LSAT score. This study session on the other hand is about taking care of business. Join us to keep yourself accountable and improve your LSAT score! We will make a bit of space for breaks and camaraderie, but the main thing is to come together, put our heads down, and get our work done!

Whether you're studying for the LSAT or just need a dedicated time and space to focus on your work, this weekly study session is the perfect opportunity to stay on track and make progress towards your goals. Plus, by studying with a group, you'll have the benefit of accountability and support from the 7Sage community.

Joining us is simple. Just head to our events page at https://classic.7sage.com/events/, find this event, and click the blue "watch" button. This event is open to all 7Sage users, including free users. We look forward to seeing you there!

If you have any questions, please comment down below.

    Study Session Rules:

    The Lounge Room

  • Participants will first enter into the Lounge.
  • Turn your mic on and take your social breaks here.
  • The Study Room

Video should be turned on. This is the whole concept of a virtual study session. If your video isn't on, you won't feel the same degree of accountability!

Mics must be muted, and participants must be actively studying.

Sorry about that! The PrepTests are showing on my end actually, so I'll have student services DM you to investigate why it's not showing on your end. In the meantime, you can access every single PrepTest by hovering over "Practice," and clicking "PrepTests."

Even though some video explanations are missing, the written explanations are entirely comprehensive. As regards to content being not accurate, we'd love it if you could point to us where that's the case so we can improve our product! You can email us the issue at studentservice@.com.
