Not sure how much you can negotiate with Berkeley. They saw on their website that they only match some of the T14 schools. If they gave money, it probably wouldn't be a drop in the bucket in your overall decision process.

Congratulations on your acceptances!

@ Congratulations on your acceptances! What kind of law are you interested?

If public interest, then check their LRAPs, if they are similar then definitely go Howard. D.C. has its advantages if your interested in administrative. Depending on your interests then it could go either way, given that they are both strong schools.

Regardless of your choice, you're going to have a great education. Congrats again!

GPA Addendum- Honors Program

I was a part of my school's honors program, and the classes were significantly more difficult than my upper division courses. My GPA still ended up being pretty good, but the lower grades consistently came from the honors classes. I'm not sure if it's better to point that out or leave it be.

So, I actually sit on the housing planning committees. The shortage, writ large, won't affect the three year guarantee that law students get. It affects PhD programs and those who are trying to get in off the housing wait list. Plus, any charge in a guarantee would only affect future classes and not those already given a guarantee...gotta love contracts, am I right?? ;)

One bedrooms are scarce, no matter the program you are in.

@ @

One bedrooms are hard to come by, unless you have extenuating circumstances. But cats are super common, and on the housing application you specify if you are planning on bringing cats and if you'd like to.live with cats. So even when it's a two or three person, your with cat people.

FWIW, I visited UCI yesterday and LOVED it. Such an awesome atmosphere.

I live on campus at UCI (in a PhD program though). Lemme know if you have any questions about the student or the area!

Whats the best housing for the quality and price? Palo verde?

Palo Verde and Verano are the best options, including off campus options too. They're pretty equal, depends more on the apartment type in the community. When you apply for housing you can apply with specific room types in both communities at the same time, so you can put you preferences down by price if you'd like.

They're on average the same quality, although PV is more variable (some not so good, others very nice) than Verano.

Zot zot!

I wonder is one of the reasons behind unlimited retakes was the expectation that there would be a sustained period of fewer test takers and that making it unlimited would allow for continued revenue.

Thanks @ for repping UCI! Zot zot!

I'm a PhD at UCI and the VP of student government, so if people have questions about the school generally, housing, or OC then I'm happy to help

I know schools only have to report our top score these days. But are there any stats about how many times, on average, a person takes the LSAT?

According to the LSAC's reporting, the average person takes it more than once, especially amongst those receiving the top scores, and the trend is growing.

Now that the LSAC got rid of their cap and the ABA only requires the highest score to be reported, I suspect the average to only go up

It'll switch out of grey when your score has been posted

How long does it usually take to post?

Could be a matter of minutes to several hours. It's random, irrespective of score, geography, name, or anything else

The rule of thumb I've seen is that you take the percentile your GPA is in +/- 50 and that'll give you a ballpark of the LSAT percentile for the school you'd need to average their 50th.

However, as a splitter, it can be a shot in the dark with some schools, particularly this year as the number of top scorers has increased. So try to shoot for a score that'd put you averaging above the 50th with the split.

For example were the 75th percentile for GPA, aiming for their 25th percentile or better for the lsat is the general approximation I've seen.

Best of luck!

They claimed the storm wouldn't delay score release in their online letter. Hopefully that's still the case.

I've heard that the release is largely automated, and that they likely just need someone in the building in case something goes wrong. Hopefully getting to their office is doable, then we would be all set.

Better yet, maybe they'll start it up late tonight and have it roll in the early morning.

@ had some great observations that I stuggle with. With the logic heavy question types, I look for immediate parallels in the stimulus and the answers. Immediately eliminating options where, for instance, the conclusion is wrong, quantifier in a premise is wrong, etc. will make it so that you only have to spend time on two-three options, max, for the hardest of questions. Not diagramming everything saved me a bunch of time.

Like other posters have mentioned, repetition will help in getting it down faster because of your muscle memory. But it will also help because you can quickly pick out the important things and ignore the filler.

Good luck with your studying!

I couldn't imagine that to be true, given that you aren't supposed to have an especially long resume. The paid summer work that you'll have after 1L and 2L should count as employment.

OP, Yale Law has a blog where they do a P.S. Bootcamp that would be really helpful. It shows things from their perspective, so you'll know how to say your truth without running the risk of it misconstrued or misvalued.

I believe yes to both, because if it must then it could.

Especially because this is for LG, there will only be one, eventually clear-cut, answer. Because of that, if you know that it must then you can pounce on that as the right answer.
