I work 40 hour weeks so for me... I study first thing when I get up for about an hour to hour and a half... at lunch for an hour during my break and after work for an hour depending on how my brain is. On the weekends, I study a lot more aggressively because I have all day, so anywhere between 5-6 hours with breaks in between of course.

I took Powerscore also and was not ready when the class ended. I actually withdrew my application to take the December LSAT and now I'm studying through here. I plan on taking the test in June 2014. So I hear ya! This is way better than Powerscore. I'm walking in with a clean mind and being super open lol.

Following the syllabus

Hi 7sage(rs),

Should I be following the syllabus as is? I'm starting it now and I am a little bit ahead of schedule based on the syllabus. I noticed that the practice tests aren't until the very end. Should I be following it completely straight through and back to back by taking the 4 exams listed at the end of my syllabus or? Sorry if this question has already been asked. Trying to get the best of this program.

Last time I took Power Score and hardly understood anything that was going on. This time around I'm changing my study habits to studying in the morning prior to work given that I work 40 hour weeks and dedicating my weekends to studying also. Any advice on following the syllabus or not would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to score upper 150s. Thanks!

Don't waste your money on Powerscore. I literally had to revert all my thinking when I converted to 7sage. And 7sage has helped me tremendously that I wish I had found it sooner than later. And its affordable. Win win.

Nilesh- Thanks for your comments. I appreciate them. I think you're right about taking the test when I'm ready. I think it's always the pressure that gets the best of us. I plan on studying intensively to the best of my ability from now until perhaps June. That should be plenty of adequate time for me to get a decent score and apply in time early enough in the cycle. If you have any further advice that would be great. Thanks again.

Rasheed- I've taken about 4 outside of the diagnostic. All my scores ranged from highest at 148 to low 140. As mentioned earlier, I probably need to put in some more time before I can see a high 160 maybe 170. Any advice?

Advice Needed on LSAT test December

Hi all,

Please excuse if my post is not suppose to be here as I am new.

I recently took Powerscore's class and although it was somewhat helpful in introducing the concepts to me - I haven't fully grasped everything. I initially signed up for this coming December LSAT with the intention that the material would be fresh in my head, but now I am having second thoughts. My diagnostic score was a 142 cold. Ideally, I want to do better but if I am not grasping the material now well...

After the December test I was going to continue to study using 7sage materials for the June test. Any thoughts or advice on this? I currently work 40 hours a week as a paralegal, so I can only study when I am home and on weekends. It's quite exhausting, but I know I need to stick with a better schedule.

My weakness is the logic games portion. I realize once the questions get more complex, I lose it. Should I wait until February or June? Thanks.

I took the course alongside using the books and it was the worst mistake I could make. Not only did I spend a ridiculous amount of money. but they complicated things in my brain even more. I started fresh with 7sage and honestly its way better than powerscore. It's simple and to the point without all the blah blah blah.

When I went to a conference about applying to law school and its application process - they talked a little bit about wait listing. The things they mentioned were although the school asks for two letters of rec, sometimes if you call them, you may send a third to weight out in your favor. I know one school in my area who accepts third letters if the potential student gets wait listed. Also, the conference suggested that writing letters of interest as time progresses also plays in your favor. It lets them know you haven't decided yet because they may be your top choice. Maybe you can see if you can play the card of these two?

I'm extremely nervous. I'm going to use tomorrow to relax and calm down before I walk into the room to take the test. Meh.

Congratulations! This gives me great relief because I was a former student of Powerscore and I've been lurking here at 7sage, trying to find when am I going to give in... probably now lol. But this is great ! Congrats again!

I would definitely research more. Paralegal programs are costly and you're better off without if if you're still considering law. Tuition here in CA from an ABA accredited institution runs about $16,000- $8,000 (non ABA). I think after the experience of being one without a certificate and around an attorney environment just made me save my money and pursue the real thing. One thing I did notice that was different though that may make me a stronger candidate as an attorney is that Paralegals know things not all attorneys know... which may be helpful. Most of my attorneys did not know how to file a subpoena or even format briefs, which I thought was weird!

I probably should start thinking about a back up plan. I think if I didn't become an attorney, I'd probably do some consulting work for the political sector (my other passion) or maybe even fall into a non-profit. My passion and interest lies solely with the combat against human trafficking, since most of my work was assisting victims of prostitution. I think that would make my life fulfilling and happy. :)

I was a paralegal without a certificate. Depends on the firm. Mine taught me everything to be a paralegal in their business, but if I went somewhere else the expectations might be different.

When I first started out... I tried to study after work hours, but my brain wasn't absorbing any information. After talking to J.Y. he told me I should be getting up early. And because I was studying so early on in the game.. I also needed to pace myself on the material before I burnt myself out. I had enough space where I could study, but if I was too tired.. I still had some wiggle room to skip a day or two. It might be something to consider for anyone working and who is a morning person like me anyway. After a few cups of coffee ... it gets better lol
