Only Flex Practice Tests from now on?

I'm taking the April lsat (11 weeks away) and I'm in the final 2 months of my studies where I'm honing/cleaning up and just taking PTs.

Up until this point I've been doing 4 section PTs. Should I just only do flex PTs from now on? Been mostly doing 4 sections for the extra LR section because I feel like I can always learn from it. What do you all think?

Advice for Drilling LR

I'm currently floating around mid to high 160s and I'm trying to consistently get into the170s (I'm taking the flex in July so I have about 3 weeks left). I'm drilling my weakest LR question types but I feel like it's not as productive as it can be. I make problem sets say for NA questions with a blend of Medium, Hard, Harder NA's from old exams and I do them untimed really trying go through each question (out of 15 fo them I get about give or take 2-4 wrong) but I haven't really seen an improvement in my LR scores, it's only been like missing 6 on average to missing like 5/4 on average now per LR section. Do people who have been in similar situations have any advice on improving and getting consistently -2/-3 on LR sections? Should I not be doing these drills untimed? In addition I also do timed LR sections btw but been really trying to get NA's and Weaken questions on lock.

Hi everyone,

I've officially taken the LSAT twice (scoring a 164 both times even though I was averaging high 160s-low 170s. I choked, lol), and I'm getting on my final 5-month of LSAT prep to take it one last time in June. I'm on PST time and work a full-time job, so most of my prep is done on weeknights and weekends. I'm averaging around the 168-171 window, and I'm trying to PT in the 175+ area by test day to test there hopefully or at least 170+.

I'm looking for a small group of retakers to study with (potentially have a discord group going). We can hold each other accountable and brainstorm/test out new learning and test-taking strategies. I'm not trying to start from scratch, do sections, and BR those sections together. I'm imagining turning discord into basically a 7sage/powerscore/Manhattan prep live forum where people have questions they can post in the chat and hopefully have some folks break down the problems together. I envision recreating a productive library study session if multiple people are online. Like if some of us aren't doing a practice section or practice test (we'll be on dnd mode) and we're all reviewing problems, we just did and are not sure about a particular question/game/passage we hop in a voice channel, talk through the issues, answer any remaining questions, and go back to studying.

Let me know if this sounds interesting to anyone! The kinks aren't ironed out yet, but even if it's just a small group of 3-4, I think this could be super cool. Plus, if it's a group of retakers, for the most part, we all will already have some study plan for ourselves and just having a group who is in a similar boat as you can be a good resource and support network to use.

7sage Analytics for RC

Does anyone have any advice in using 7sage test analytics for RC? The ease of "hey just do more of X type of question" from LR and LG don't translate well to RC. Do people use this part of the analytics much? Or do people just go "ya i just have to work on humanities passages"

Thanks!

I would send it on the August one! I'm on the same boat. I'm going to chill out for the rest of this week and get back on the study wave next week. We get our scores on July 30th so yo if the stars aligned and you get a score you're happy with hell ya congrats! If not you have until August 9th to make the call of if you wanna take the August Flex or take the coupon for an LSAT until April 2021. So you have an extra week of studying until you have to decide! Better to have the opportunity to send on August than wait you feel?

omg I would DIE!!! I'm taking Aug too and from the way my PTs are going that's basically going to be just a $200 PT for me so I FEEEEEL YOU!!!!!!

I will say tho, thinking about it like lowered my anxiety a little bit. Like the whole "this could be just another practice exam it's fine" but I don't think I ever experienced fight or flight like that before in my life LMAOO

Funniest/Biggest L of my Life - PSA

I hope some of you will find laughter from this plus it's a PSA haha. I took the flex yesterday and LMAOOO just wanted to share with y'all that I didn't know/forgot we could only use number 2 pencils. So when my proctor was like "uhhhhh my guy are those MECHANICAL pencils? sorry they can't be mechanical...do you have any number 2 pencils?" I started to panic and rummaged through my entire house until I found 2 dull ass number 2 pencils. But wait, no sharpener. Only had a knife. It was the first time I ever sharpened a pencil with a knife in my life LOLOL we really hate to see it. The exam wasn't that bad. I usually PT from 167 - 172 (RC is my kryptonite rip) but I was so frazzled so I feel like LR/RC could have been better if my mind was in the right place. Ended up rereading stimuluses and parts of passages just because my angst got the best of me. But during the exam it was one of those moments where I knew if I was in the right headspace I would have complete control of the exam. You feel me? Nothing crazy out of the ordinary. Made some educated guesses on more questions than I would have liked and if the stars align we chillin, if not then rip. It sucks that I paid 200 for what is now essentially a practice exam but hey great learning experience and now I have HELLLAAAAA number 2 pencils and a sharpener for next time. Don't forget your number 2 pencils!!! Who's on this August train with yo'boy??

Shout out to @ with the GOAT responses. I already started seeing improvements in my RC just from his advice.

@

Exactly!! So to better break it down, my process is like:

I read the question and if I have a solid understanding of what it's saying and what it's asking me for try and predict the right answer (if you can) and go through the ACs. If I can choose the right AC and eliminate the wrong ones with 100% certainty click it and move on, don't flag. If I choose an AC and eliminate the wrong ones but I'm not 100% (like even when I'm 99% sure) flag it and come back to it later---this actually happens a lot more than than I'd (or maybe you'd) expect in the first half of a the section even on the easier questions. I would just find myself like double guessing/rereading the stimulus/ACs if I'm not 100% but when you do that for like 4 or 5 questions before you get half way through the section that time adds up.

But when I get the questions where I read the stimulus once, and I'm just like "what the fuck is this saying?" and then I reread and if I'm still just like "wait ??? what ???" that's when I just go NOPE, flag it and skip it---it's not worth spending time on it if I don't get it right away. And I also flag and skip if I have an okay understanding of the stimulus but then the AC are those where they using similar verbiage in all the ACs and I really gotta dig through each one to find the answer that's when I'm like NOPE i'll do this later.

And I do this for every questions. I give an actual honest shot at each question and for me I usually do this with about 10-12 minutes to spare for the second go around.

Then once you loop around you'll be surprised how much clearer certain questions are. For those that I flagged even though I was 99% sure about them, the second go around is when I'm like "oh ya this other AC I was maybe debating between uses X phrasing which means it's wrong. Dope next" and it's so quick. For those that I skipped, I'm essentially reading the stimulus/AC for a 3rd/4th time without wasting that much time because I didn't trap myself really trying to understand it the first time. And for the most part, those questions that didn't make sense to me the 1st go around by the time I get to them the second time around something just usually clicks or I see something that I missed the first read (from the fog of war) and I get it right away.

But as always there's like 2-3 questions (either I'm just missing something (for me it's NAs that usually do me dirty) or they're, 8 times out of 10, the curve-breaker questions) that majority of the banked 12 minutes go to. But now you know "hey I have 5 minutes left and I can give all my focus to these 2 or 3 remaining questions? hugeeeee"

Try it out and let me know if it works for you! It's done wonders for me.

Hi!

I personally tried lessening the time and for some reason it just made more nervous. When I do practice sections and when I do full PT I am someone that looks at the clock after every passage, every game, and after every 7 or 8 questions on LR. So when I tried lessening the time, idk it just got in my head because those extra 3 minutes near the end are huge for just quickly checking questions you weren't 100% sure about.

What has helped me improve in LR (I average -2/-1 timed and -1/-0 on BR from about -6/-5 timed and -3/-2 on BR) was instead keeping track of the time of when I do my first go-around of the questions. I cannot talk about how much skipping/flagging has helped me. I flag like 12 questions (but tbh I flag when even I'm 99% sure on a question which is why while this sounds like a lot it's really not) and skip like 5 or 6 during the first wrap around lol. But there's just something so fire/comforting of when you look at the time after your first go-around and you see you have like 12 minutes left that just gives you that boost of confidence to finish the section out strong. Granted I did just start with 12 minutes left over, that's something I worked to improve which is something I recommend everyone try to improve!

To get back to your question, I personally would recommend to try and improve the speed of your first go-around instead of just taking 3 minutes off the top. I do think it's worth to try the 3 minutes off the top method because it might work for you, but as someone who uses the clock to gauge progress in the section rather often, it was just another layer of stress that I didn't need haha.

I hope this helps!

Hey,

I contacted Proctor U asking about this not too long ago. I also have an external monitor connected to my MBA and they said it's totally fine. However, the laptop itself has to be arm's length away from you. So maybe putting it on the ground under your desk perhaps.

Good luck!

They also just make sure that things are arm's length away from you. So like if there's a giant TV that's off and far away from you then it should be fine.

Taking Full Length Tests in 7sage or LawHub

Hey All,

I'm approaching the final 3 months (hopefully lol) of my journey and I'm wondering if I should be taking my full length exams in LawHub or 7sage? I want to take the exam in conditions that are as close to the actual exam but I'm sacrificing the all the cool BR/Data aspects of 7sage?

What do y'all suggest?

Thanks! Just read your old post asking sagers if you should be taking PTs on law hub or 7sage and the responses. Curious what approach you recommend taking now?

Hey! All personally I've kept everything in 7sage because of the tracking. I'm taking May 2020 Flex tomorrow and I'm gonna do that on LawHub as like the final practice exam before the real one.
