This frustrated me as well.
Say you have a control scan with extreme activity in area X and no activity in area Y. Your test scan shows equally extreme activity in area X but an additional, minor level of activity in area Y. If you subtracted the results of the control from the test condition, the instances of extreme activity in area X would cancel each other out, but you would still see activity in area Y in the final fMRI scan.
Maybe I am misunderstanding something, but if not, this is a pretty grave mistake on the LSAT writers' part.
I was working full time, but wasn't going to school, so I would consider my study schedule to be full time.
