The way I looked at it was this: (self interest + not concern others -> not just)
(conscience -> just)
So I didn't take the contrapositive of the not justified b/c the stem already gives it to you (conscience -> just). And the stem is specifically saying ONLY conscience leads to justified, NOT no self interest + concern for others -> justified. Same with not justified, ONLY self interest and not concern for others leads to not justified, NOT no conscience -> not justified. If you read each answer and decipher which elements of which conclusion (not just/just) was met, then you get to D being the right answer. D saying that Maria was justified b/c her conscience required her to do so (conscience -> just).
In A, it said Keisha was justified b/c of her no self interest and concern for others. But that's not right, the stem told us that (conscience -> justified). In other words, (no self interest + concern for others -> just) does not equal or mean the same thing as (conscience -> just).
In B, it says Janice was not justified b/c she used her conscience, but that's not right b/c the stem told us (self interest + no concern for others -> not justified). In other words, (conscience -> not justified) does not equal or mean the same thing as (self interest + no concern for others -> not just).
In C, it says Georgette was justified b/c no self interest + concern for others, but like A that's not right b/c the stem told us that (conscience -> justified).
In E, it says Louise was not justified b/c she used her conscience, and like the others that's not right b/c the stem told us that (self interest + no concern for others -> not justified).
This is how I looked at it, hope it made sense and helped lol.
You should keep it because it made me lol
