Dual citizenship

Hi! Sorry in advance for the very specific question. I am a U.S. citizen and am currently in the process of applying for Colombian citizenship (both of my parents are from Colombia). If granted citizenship, I will have it before I apply to law schools this Fall. This might be a silly question, but I am just curious, does having dual citizenship hurt against you for law school admissions? Are there any negatives (or maybe even positives?) of being a dual citizen? I am living in the U.S. and will be throughout the admissions process.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Great - thank you for the advice! @ @

Yes, I decided to change her name. My first sentence now reads: "My client - I'll call her Hui - sat in front of me as I pulled out my phone."

Thanks again!

Hi! I have a very random question. In my PS, I talk about a client I helped when I was working as an AmeriCorps at Legal Aid. My personal statement begins talking about our initial meeting. I received consent from my former client to use her name and to tell parts of her story for my admissions essay.

1.) Do you think I need to address this anywhere in my personal statement, by perhaps adding a footnote to my personal statement confirming I have received consent?

2.) Alternatively, to potentially avoid this messy look and confusion, should I just change her name? My personal statement begins like this: "My client, her name, sat in front of me as I pulled out my phone." I can change it to: "My client - we'll call her X - sat in front of me as I pulled out my phone.

If anyone has any advice on this, I would greatly appreciated it!

Thank you,

Emily

Interested. Also not working so time is flexible for me! Saturdays or Sundays work.

Some schools will specifically ask that you not submit a new statement if there is a typo, and only to send substantial changes. Other schools - if they receive a new PS - will simply add the new PS on top of (but not instead of) the old PS. This is just what I've seen for some schools, but I have no yes/no hard answer!

Hi everyone. I would appreciate some advice. I am signed up to take the January 2019 LSAT. I thought, why not, might as well try one last time to get a higher score. However, in between work and submitting my applications (which took WAY longer than I ever imagined), I have not had time to study and do not think it is worth the effort at this point to re-take. I have already submitted my law school applications to two schools and indicated I would take the January LSAT. Therefore, my applications are "on hold" until the score is released. I already have two reportable scores, so do not need the third one for my application to be reviewed now.

Should I e-mail admissions with something along the lines of, "Dear Admissions Committee of X School, I am applying as a first-year law student. I submitted my application on X date. I am writing to update application information regarding my LSAT test scores. I will not be taking the January 2019 LSAT and would like for my reportable scores from X date and X date to be considered."

Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you.

Hi! I also recently began my full time journey working towards the November test. Looking forward to definitely sharing conversations with you. Is this your first take? What does your study schedule look like?

As for tips, all I can say right now is to keep doing other things - exercise, go for walks, take breaks when needed, maybe work on applications, etc. We have some time and you don’t want to burnout halfway through. Also, I have slowly stopped going on social media (not sure if you have this issue) and I’ve found it to be very helpful. It was distracting and definitely consumes a lot of time.

Best of luck!
