Most law schools ask for a CAS report sent by the LSAC, more information can be found here: https://www.lsac.org/applying-law-school/jd-application-process/credential-assembly-service-cas. Once they receive all of the transcripts necessary, and you have purchased CAS, they will generate a report.

Have you tried to ask for accommodations during the test due to your learning disability?

You can usually view your unofficial transcript online at your University's website, which will show your GPA. Though when the LSAC receives all of your transcripts from all applicable institutions they have their own system of calculating everything and they will generate a report, which you can also see.

@ Wow, thank you so much for the information about your experiences at both testing centers, it is really helpful and I will definitely take into consideration all that you have said when choosing one! I'm sorry that the proctors were talking and hopefully they stopped when you told them to.

@ Sorry for any confusion, I definitely should have chosen a better word (and I edited my original sentence to clear up that confusion)! I meant accommodations as in a place to stay at a hotel/hostel because the exam is at 8:30am. So in either location the price is relatively the same to stay the night before the test.

LSAT in China

Has anyone taken the LSAT in China recently? I am taking it in October 2019 and was planning on taking it in Shanghai as spots were available earlier this week but unfortunately no more spots are available (it is the closest center to me, only 2 hours commute). So I am either looking at Beijing or Guangzhou and I have read some not so favorable reviews for both centers. Beijing and Guangzhou are both around the same distance/same amount of money needed to spend to get there and to get accommodations (a place to stay the night before). So if anyone has recommendations between the two or has had a good experience getting into a test center that has no more available seats abroad, please let me know!

Side note: I called LSAC about Shanghai no longer having availability the day it happened and they stated to call back within the next couple of weeks and see if they opened up more test centers, but from my own research it doesn't seem likely that they would open up more centers. **edit as of 07/01/19, they added another test center in Shanghai so I stand corrected on this and will hopefully get a spot in the new center when I get my next paycheck.

Another side note: I have read all the reddit posts, previous 7sage posts, and all other forums talking about taking the LSAT in China so please do not link me to them as I have probably read them already.

One last side note: I am not considering Hong Kong as a testing center option for the time being.

Thank you to anyone who responds, I have had a rough week trying to figure this out so I appreciate any advice given.

It sounds like you rationalized your own thought process and are leaning towards one way. I have had friends go to law schools specifically in areas they want to work in. Those law schools are known in the area as the law school to go to, and my friends are constantly networking and talking to future employers because of that reputation (and some local employers just strictly hire from that school). There are some known great law schools in certain areas that are highly looked upon by the local legal profession. But a high ranking law school can get you that as well and have a greater radius of influence. I think it all depends on you, if you are fine with great local law school then go for it! If you want something more renowned I think there are many benefits towards it too, and some benefits might outweigh the benefits of a local law school. Maybe since you want to stay in the NE apply to Boston and George Wash since there are closer to the area then say Emory since you have to be selective in your application process.

Hello!

For LR in BR I do things differently than what my friends do. I have friends who write/type out their explanations. While I find this helpful in general, for me I found my preference. I have the PT 62-71 bundle from LSAC so I type up the question and AC I marked for BR into a word document then convert it to a PDF. I then put it into EverNote or Notability and do a screen/audio recording of me going through and annotating the problem, kind of like what JY does. I find actually talking through a problem instead of writing it down helps me because I am catching all my thoughts into a audio recording as opposed to me writing them down and miss key thoughts in the process. The next time I drill that problem set I have various videos I can go through and identify the weaknesses that I have.

I am in the same exact boat as you! Luckily, CAS remains active for five years. I emailed all of my recommenders (who have sent in their recommendations already) explaining that I am no longer applying in 2019 instead I'll be applying in 2020 and if they want to edit the LOR they should let me know. All of them said they didn't need to edit it (after all I gave them two months to complete it so giving them more time to redo something they already had enough time to complete is, I feel, unnecessary), but it is always in your best interest to ask. I am going to use the exact same ones in a year and I feel perfectly fine doing so!

"Do NOT have a transcript sent from an international institution IF your bachelor’s degree is from a US, US territory/associated state, or Canadian school, and

the total amount of work you completed at all international institutions combined is equal to or less than the equivalent of one year of undergraduate study in the United States, its territories/associated states, or Canada."

https://www.lsac.org/applying-law-school/jd-application-process/cas/requesting/international-transcripts

It sounds to me since you only took it in a summer course (less then a year), and the rest you took after you graduated, those credits would have not applied anyway (unless you're in a graduate program?), so I wouldn't. However, definitely include this on your resume and highlight it! What amazing opportunities they must have been!

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm going to take the November test and if I don't like my score I will cancel it and take it again in March, but I will apply for the next cycle. By then all my materials will be ready for the late September/early October admissions opening. My main reason is the availability of scholarship funds; you get more scholarship consideration the earlier you apply, usually. For me its worth waiting another cycle if I get can more funds.

I think you should let LSAC know so they wont hire them as proctors again and mess up future LSAT takers as well. I'm so sorry that this happened to you :( Every minute is precious on the test and the LSAC knows that and should offer to cancel your score.

I would love to see a blog post that focuses on law school concentrations and the best schools that fall under each category. For example the best law schools for family law or environmental law.

@ from my understanding you only get the fee waiver if you see your score and cancel it; if you withdraw you do not fall into that category and therefore, unfortunately, will not get the fee waiver for a future test.

My friend had a similar issue and while his solution would be distracting for me it worked for him. He would draw an arrow from the question to a space on his paper where he was doing his work. Therefore it was visually easy for him to see the connection between the question, his work, and the answer choices, and it doesn't take too long to draw an arrow or something similar (especially if you are losing time trying to figure out which question you were on). Hope this helps a bit, I understand that that can be a very frustrating issue!

I think completing the CC in a months time is doable if you put in the hours. I was able to only because I was studying full-time. However most will advise to go over the main points of the CC again after you finished it the first time, then do question drills (especially fool proofing LG), and then PT (around 20-30+, with around 2 every week to give yourself time to review in between). So just doing PT at the max end is 15 weeks, or 3.5 months. But keep in mind people do PT until they get the score they want and maintain that score over numerous PT, so it is hard to say exactly how many one should take; a good starting point is 20-30+. Starting with a score range of 132-142 and you wanting to take the January exam with a goal score of 160 will require a lot of work.

7sage offers a study schedule which can be found here: https://classic.7sage.com/study-schedule/

More on fool proofing LG can be found here: https://classic.7sage.com/discussion/#/discussion/2737/logic-games-attack-strategy/p1

A great webinar about what to do after CC: https://classic.7sage.com/webinar/post-core-curriculum-study-strategies/

I definitely think a leap of 142-160 is doable, since it sounds like you just need to get the basics down and expand on them. But it takes months to make that kind of leap and maintain it. Have you thought of postponing or signing up for the March exam? Nonetheless I wish you all the best in your studies!
