"Armies from the Reach require at least three hundred thousand bushels of wheat to maintain the siege. Total supplies of wheat currently stand at only one hundred thousand bushels. If the siege is not successful, the Tyrells will lose political influence.
The inference is that if more wheat is not somehow acquired, then the Tyrells will lose political influence."
Hello, I am having a hard time understanding the inference.
AR (Armies from the Reach)
300,000 (Three hundred thousand bushels...)
S (Siege)
LPI (lose political influence)
The way I broke it down was
AR→300,000→S (Contrapositive) S → 300,000 → AR
300,000. S → LPI
S → LPI
I am slightly confuse. When it saids S or T will get adopted, why does it automatically go to
S→T? Could it be implied that both get adopted? How do you determine whether this OR is inclusive v exclusive?
Hello,
"Alternatively, since each necessary condition is "independent" of the other necessary condition, we could translate like this:"
I am having a hard time understanding when the condition is "independent". Why was first example not translated similarly as the second example? Is it because the first example in order for the sufficient condition to be activated it requires both for the necessary to be triggered?
Thank you!
