Introducing a change in logic games approach

Hi all,

I realized that I tend to solve for all possible "worlds" in my set-up but not proficient enough do it in a timely manner that paralyzes me when it feels like much time has gone by. When I watch JY's explanation I realize I was on the right track and was making all possible worlds but was doubting myself and did not push through with a few more scenarios which would have allowed me to answer all questions quickly afterward. I also realized JY doesn't always solve for all possible worlds (he has a separate video for it underneath)but employs a method that's rule-driven for each question. For me however when I approach a game that has limited solutions but not few (say 10-15 scenarios) I instinctively choose that route but start to doubt myself halfway in. Can anyway help me out with what I can do with the exam only a week away?

Thanks.

Ok, in which case you would need to consider some options. First, do you have to be in school by next fall. If you do then you just gotta give the December test your best shot. Prepare as if this will be your last. Don't think about February test. After taking the December test decide on whether studying for another 2 months will help you by much-Remember you need to write the personal statement if you haven't. Only if you think this is needed should you proceed to taking the February test as your last resort. However, if you think you can wait another cycle stop after the December test. Study for five more months and take it in June making it your 3rd try and submit your application early in September. Remember, you have 3 tries within the 2 year window. Good luck!

I would take the December test. Granted you've been studying full force since September you might as well just take this one. If you don't like the score o well, take it again in February. However I would use the December score to gauge the range of law schools I will be applying. I wouldn't push it until February.

Hey I'm not sure if you've found a partner yet but I'm a UVA grad too and I'm hoping to talk to a partner about LR questions that I don't get even with explanations for the Dec LSAT. If you're interested please pm me.

Advice on Application for This Cycle

Hi, I'm currently studying for the December LSAT and hoping to use that score or if needed February score to apply to law schools for the Fall of 2015. Besides studying for the LSAT I haven't started on the other components of the application-resume, personal statement, etc. Should I go ahead and write the personal statement and other essays for schools now and submit them as I study for the Dec LSAT or should I do those after I take the Dec LSAT? Also, can one personal statement be sent to all the schools I'm applying? I haven't looked at any of the applications and I don't know how many different essays I have to write and was wondering if time would be better spent if I just study for the Dec test or I should get started on other parts of the application.

In addition, when should I choose which law schools to apply? I was hoping to use my Dec LSAT score to determine schools but if I do need to write specific essays schools require it seems I should choose schools before knowing my score...

Thanks in advance.

Hi I live in Daegu and I'm planning on taking the June 2014 LSAT as well. My untimed score is 160. I'm interested in Skyping. Please let me know if you are interested and don't mind the score difference!

LinkedIn Account?

I was wondering how many of those who are studying for the LSAT i.e. law school bound who have not been/are not active job seekers have a LinkedIn account.

I'm a college grad and I don't have an account. I thought I wouldn't derive much benefits from LinkedIn until I get to law school and deactivated my previous one since I didn't use it much.

Do you guys have a LinkedIn account? Should I get one again?

I'm in Korea as well. I would keep taking PT's until the day before the test. You can withdraw by the midnight before the test

I was in a similar situation as you-I had found out about 7Sage before I took Testmasters in-class for the September test. While I was taking Testmasters I stuck solely to Testmasters' methods. However, for logic games I felt how JY sets up the games is more conducive to how I think. It seems as though you have to pick and choose whichever method clicks with you the most.

Testmasters vs 7Sage

Hi, I know this topic has been covered in the forum already but I thought I'd ask again for more input.

I'm currently debating whether to continue and upgrade 7Sage course or travel abroad to take the in-class Testmasters. I'm scoring in the 150s and I feel as though the class structure + homework would help me pull up my score a bit from there which I can pull up further with 7Sage on my own.

Any thoughts?

Doing Logic Games Sorted

Hi, I'm currently in the process of solidifying different categories of logic games problems i.e. basic linear, advanced linear, etc. and I'm doing problems culled from the Appendix of the Powerscore. However, I realized 7Sage also has logic games sorted from PT 35-50 https://uploads.7sage.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/logic-games-sorted-by-type.pdf and the terms used for categories differ from those of Powerscore. For example, Powerscore distinguishes games by calling them basic linear, advanced linear, grouping, combination, etc. whereas 7Sage has In/Out, Sequencing with Twist, etc.

In this case did you guys go through all the different categories in both Powerscore and 7Sage?

If I were you if I think I'm off from my target score by 10 points or more I would cancel it. I think it's better to have a score cluster that's in close range from one another than a cluster of scores that are ranging widely.

I guess a different perspective might work. Whatever will happen will happen. Do you think you came to this place in your life all by yourself? Sure, you decided to study for the LSAT you put in the time and effort but I'd say in a way you're led to where you are in life right now. Go about your daily business-work, study, eat, etc. Do put in reasonable effort. But I think you'll get to wherever you need to get to without having to think you have to call all the shots.

Confirm action

Are you sure?
