Hi there, I was having problems with RC as well. My problem was mainly understanding the fundamentals. I decided to try out Mike Kim's LSAT Trainers

Here is my revised foolproof method:

I complete a game under timed condition (I always select the "target time") (also, please don't get frustrated here, there were many times were I would start a timed game and end up not answering one question.)

I BR that same game. (I take as much time as I want with BR. The point here is to see how the rules comes together.)

I record my score. (time spent:x, Score:x)

If my score is more than -1 then i will fool proof it during my following study session (next day or few days after). Repeat this process until i have perfected the game.

5.Then, I start a NEW GAME and repeat the above process.

The key here is that you have to leave some space between each foolproofing session otherwise your mind will simply memorize the correct AC (it happened to me multiple times).

LSAT Test day issue

Hi everyone,

This may or may not sound like an odd question.

I have heard that you are not allowed to speak out loud during the LSAT. So, I have being using my index finger as a guide while I read a LR stim or a RC passage which has helped with my retention of the infos.

I usually find that it helps keep me focused on each sentence and it helps keep me on track if I pause in the middle of reading.

Has anyone had an issue with ProctorU about using their finger as a guide while reading?

How do you foolproof LG?

So, I've been foolproofing LG and this is my process.

  • Complete the game under time constrain.
  • If I get any questions wrong, I BR to understand the mistakes I made.
  • Take the game again under time constrain (after a while so either half hour, one hour, or next day).
  • If I get every question right then I move on to the next game. If I get anything wrong, then I foolproof again.
  • Most times (like 90%) I only have to foolproof once after BR. I make sure I know the game inside and out during BR which is why I mostly don't have to foolproof again.

Is this okay? or do people usually foolproof a couple of times even though they keep getting the question correct?

    Tell me what you did.

    confused :/

If you go to "LSAT questions" then "Drills", there are two labels under the logic game category called "grouping with sequencing" and "sequencing with grouping". Is there a difference between them?

Help! Advise! LG avg (-8 and -6)

    Hi everyone,

Typically, I average between -4 and -2 in untimed LG sections. I have recently introduced timing into preparing for the LSAT and my score is usually between -8 and -6.

I've noticed that the reason why I get certain questions wrong is because I don't spend enough time upfront making inferences or splitting game boards. So, I end up spending most of my time using brute force to answer the questions.

I wanna get better at making inferences and seeing easily how games can be split up during the timed sections. Does any one have any input on what I should do going forward? I have heard of the foolproof method but have not tried it yet. I'm also open to any other suggestions!

    Thank you!

Hi! I'm currently living in Canada. Is there an opportunity, similar to this, available to non-US citizens? Thanks.

That’s amazing! Could you tell us what clicked for you? What skills got you to -4?

LG is a section I improved on dramatically.

Make sure you master diagramming skills. Familiarize your self with all the games i.e. sequencing, sequencing double, grouping, mixed, and so on.

Most importantly, blind review after each pt or drill set and watch the explanation videos posted.

    Good Luck!

    Hi everyone,

I understand that in a Strengthen question our task is to identify an AC that will make the conclusion more likely to be true.

In a Necessary Assumption question our task is to identify an AC the argument needs in order to have a chance to be true.

My question is, are there any fundamental differences between the two?

Any input would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

    LSAT Writing section

    Hello,

How is everyone preparing for the writing section of the LSAT? I'm taking the January test but I have not looked into the strategies for the writing part.

If it's an argument, always find the conclusion.

If it's not an argument (meaning no conclusion), find any supporting link between the premises to create an inference.

Before I look into the AC, I always dive deep into the stimulus to understand where the gap is between the premises or between the premise and the conclusion. The author almost always makes a huge jump from the premise to the conclusion. Your job while reading the stimulus is to understand what that huge jump is. Once you get good at this, the correct AC will become obvious even if you didn't pre-phrase.
