Addenda/Diversity Statement

Hi All,

Now that finals are over for me and the LSAT is out of the way for good, I am finalizing my material for my applications.

I am stuck on the addenda and diversity statement. My first three semesters were a little weak as I had things going on in my life and was adjusting to the college transition/life, but now I am at four straight semesters/two straight years of 4.0s. I am getting As on everything without extra credit for the most part. Assuming I also greatly improve on my LSAT, how would I write this all into an addenda? Does anyone have an example they could share?

For the diversity statement, how do I go about doing that?

PDF should keep the format and be read the same. Did you try that?

LSAC Start/End Time

If we are to be there no later than 8:30am,

Is it reasonable to say I will be done at 1:30pm?

That is 1h for check-in and instructions.

Last time I finished around that time, we got out at 1:45pm

Is this normal?

Hi

So the first time I took the LSAT I had a “mental breakdown” (just kidding) because people stresssd me out for no reason lol.

I’m apparently

Losing me mind the second time around because I no joke had a dream about logic games. Is this normal?

BRing LGs

Hi Everyone

So I have been cramming in LG sections lately to some rather good results. The first I only had -6, but I realized I selected the right AC on the test but not the paper/scantron (which I will be more careful from here on out). I'd be -2/-3 without it. I averaged -2/-3 on the rest of the LGs I took.

I took them originally a few months ago and only redid them each a couple times three months ago. If I'm doing good now and BRing my circled Qs keeps me at that range or better, is it because I did them before or because I make good inferences now?

Nate

I've almost always been good on time, just when I first started I had issues.

On the September LSAT I took I kept my nerves and did everything and went back to some questions, so that I hope will come through again. Should I focus on timed tests then or untimed to ensure I get them right? Then BR them.

Thank you!!!

And what do I need to foolproof? I have PTs 52-71 I think

You can foolproof any games. You need at least 4 maybe up to 10 clean copies of each game. There is a video on it. Most people foolproof 1-35 to save later tests for PTing.

I'm not sure what gains you'll get from foolproofing for two weeks. I think one month is about the minimum to completely foolproof games and three is more realistic. It ultimately depends on the person.

That said, it obviously starts making you better at games before you are all the way to perfect. So you might see some returns in two weeks.

Finally, a brief note on this being your last opportunity to take it.

Obviously, I can't evaluate your personal reasons for not being able to take after December. But let's talk about how compelling they must be. Let's say you get a 165 in December. Let's further say that in June or September you could get a 170 or 172 if you studied hard in the interim. You could likely get a full tuition scholarship (at least $150,000) at the school you would have just barely got into with the 165. Or alternatively you could go to a school whose degree you consider $150,000 more valuable than the school you would apply to with the 165. I'm not going to say there are not personal reasons against waiting that are that compelling(there nearly certainly are), but there are can't be many. I imagine you are best positioned to know if yours is one of these rare cases, but wanted to be sure you appreciate the stakes.

I understand completely. I did evaluate those stakes but it is one of those rare cases. Any other advice moving forward?

Personally, I've seen great value in doing specific question types and doing timed sections.

Please elaborate, what do I do specifically?

I cannot take it past this December for personal reasons, it is my last and best time

How long would it take? Is it feasible with two weeks before the test (two weeks is what I’d have left after finishing the CC)

Next Stretch

With the CC almost done and the LSAT in December, what is the best thing to work on to improve my score?

What info do you guys need from me to best answer my question?

I've been averaging I'd say 160 on PTs, around 165 as of now for BR?

Thanks

A professor of mine who talks with other admission officers, I think it was Stanford, told me one of Stanford's admission people said 9/10 people who apply with a 180 LSAT and 4.0 GPA do not get accepted, with more people being accepted with lower GPAs/LSATs (170 max) because they have the everything else. Any thoughts?

I'm extremely sceptical that that's true. It sounds like urban myth to me. The available data paints a totally different picture. It's self reported data but take this for instance: http://users.lawschoolnumbers.com/gpa-4/lsat-180

this is a small sample size though. very small

sorry, to clarify it's those without really strong letters of recommendation or experiences.

The Stanford officer person said lower GPA/LSAT scores than a 4.0/180, with strong everything else, are more likely to be admitted

T14 Schools Admissions - Softs

Does anyone have a decent indicator of how much your everything else factors into your apps? I'd have a 3.64 gpa after this semester, with some experiences like campaigns, interning for a district court judge for four months recently, being an Eagle Scout, other Scouting experiences (16 years now), and chairing/leading a strong nonprofit in my community for almost a year

Hey so going through the LR CC so far, it looks like I did not understand most theories or concepts when I took the LSAT. I had studied with Kaplan for three - four months and it did nothing except I guess just expose me to what is what if that makes sense. So assume I know nothing. Is a 165 still unreasonable? I am a hard studier and have the work ethic etc and time for the next month
