February LSAT?

I took the December exam and got a score of 161. It was the 1st time I took the exam and scored approx. 3 points lower than I was scoring prior to the exam. I am applying to UCI Law and was wondering if you guys think I should retake in February or not. My GPA is 3.45

UCI's 25 percentile GPA: 3.38 and LSAT 160.

50 percentile GPA: 3.57 and LSAT 163.

75 percentile GPA 3.68 and LSAT 165.

I know my numbers are a bit higher than the 25th percentile but I'm not sure if they're strong enough. Any advice or opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Refund

Hey guys, who can I contact regarding a refund? I have decided not to take the December LSAT so I will not be needing the course.

I emailed Dillon on Saturday but have heard nothing back. Is there anyone else that I can reach out to?

That sucksssss. I have the fee waiver for 4 of them but I was hoping there was something for the rest. Guess, I'm going to have to cut down my list a bit.

To apply for the fee waiver, login to LSAC > My Account > Fee Waivers. The application should be there. If you get approved, you get 2 free LSAT Registrations, CAS & you also receive The Official LSAT SuperPrep II. Most Law Schools waive their application fee if you got the LSAC fee waiver, but not the report fee :( .

Answer choice B is wrong because Anthony's conclusion is that "smoking marijuana leads to heroin use" and Judith admits that this may be true. She never mentions any absurd consequences that can be derived from his conclusion. What she has a problem with/thinks is absurd is how he got to that conclusion. This is what Answer D says.

I would strongly suggest you call Colorado Law Admissions to clarify the prompt.

I also agree with ^^ Part 2 seems like a diversity statement.

Law School Report Fee

Does every law school require a law school report fee? And, if so is there any way to get a waiver for that?

I have 14 schools on my list on LSAC and that's almost $500 in total.

The authors game and the witnesses game threw me off. I panicked and lost valuable time, and once I stopped freaking out, I realized how to draw them, but by that time it was too late and I had to guess.

Resume advice

I'm currently working on my resume and had a few questions that I hope someone could answer:

My resume is currently 2 pages, is this fine? Currently the sections I have are: Education, Work Experience, Volunteer Experience and Languages.

I worked all throughout college, so should I include all of the jobs? My freshman/sophomore year I was working as a sales associate and manager at different stores, and then during my sophomore year I was able to secure an office job which I stayed in until graduating college. Should I include the sales associate and manager position?

I wrote a thesis in college, should I include a brief abstract of it?

Any rules regarding type of font, size of font and margins?

And lastly, I've read that we should include a Personal Interests section. Is this true?

Thanks guys!

I would be cautious to rely on the ranking jump for Pepperdine.. I just found this on Reddit

Wow wow wow. Thank you so much for this! The ranking jump is what caused me to double think Pepperdine.

Pepperdine Law vs. Loyola Law

What are your thoughts (pro's, con's) on these two schools? Based on an earlier post, I know that Pepperdine has gone up the ranking and now outranks Loyola. Should I take this into some consideration when making my decision? I know they're not T-14, but they are both in the LA area which is where I would ultimately like to attend.

I've always dreamed of having a solid excuse for becoming an alcoholic, and this career path lines up with that dream nicely.

On topic, you are honestly the first person I've ever met with any sort of drive or passion for labor laws haha, I imagine you will be fairly successful since you have that going for you!

Hahahahaha. This made my night

Any tips on RC?

This is by far my worse section. I'm currently scoring a 161and missing like 10 questions on RC. Any tips to lower that to at least - 6.

If you decide to take in December and get a great LSAT score, I don't think you're lowering your chances of getting in. If you were to take the exam in February, then you probably would though. The only downside of December might be the amount of aid available. If you do take it in December, just try to have all the other aspects of your application ready to go ( letters of rec, personal statement etc). That way you'll be able to submit your applications very soon after receiving your LSAT Score.

If you know you can improve, then I'd suggest waiting until December. I'm not sure what happens if you were to decide to take both the September exam and December exam, since I know some schools average your scores whereas others just take the highest.

Since you got the highest score on Saturday, I would say take it to see if you get that score again or slightly lower. IMO this will give you a better idea of how prepared you are for the Saturday exam.

If you get the same high score or maybe even higher -- then yay! And if you don't, then you can quickly review what you got wrong one last time before the test, so that you won't make those mistakes on test day.

Good luck though!!

Actually, I feel like it would still strengthen the argument.

If drivers almost always pay extremely close attention to pedestrians at or near crosswalks, this could be a reason why they are less likely to look both ways before crossing the street. And furthermore it reaffirms that pedestrians feel more secure that cars will follow the signals at crosswalks. Another way you could tackle this question is to add all the premises together including answer choice D and see if the conclusion still makes sense.

On the other hand, Answer choice A definitely gives you an alternative reason for why more pedestrians are struck by cars when crossing streets with crosswalks.

The question asks you to weaken the argument. Answer choice D actually strengthens the argument because it says that drivers are paying attention at crosswalks meaning that it is more probable that the argument above is correct (pedestrians get struck at crosswalks because of the sense of security and they fail to look both ways) rather then for reckless/ distracted drivers.

If answer choice D had said "Drivers were paying less attention at crosswalks" then it would weaken the argument because it would provide another explanation for why pedestrians are struck in crosswalks more frequently.

I have to agree with everyone else, you will eventually have to check the new score. A higher score can give you more possibilities to scholarship negotiations.

Regarding Golden Gate, I personally think it depends on:

What kind of law you hope to practice and

Where you'd like to practice (if you want to stay in SF/Bay Area or somewhere else)

I will find out the score, I'm aware. Just, I'm sick of stressing over this piece of information. I want to do it in my own timing. It's my decision and I don't feel like having to defend it here.

You're right. It's your decision and you should stand by it. That being said, sorry if you felt like I was attacking you or something ---- because that was never my intention. Best of luck to you!

How likely is it that I get in?

I am very interested in attending UCI Law and wanted to see if anyone could give me an approximation of the likeliness of an acceptance. I took the December LSAT and got a 161. Retook in February and absolutely BOMBED with a 158.

My GPA is 3.45 and I am a URM if that makes any difference. I'm between the schools 25th and 50th percentile, but closer to the 25th.

Receiving back my February score was a shock and disappointment, especially because I was PTing consistently in the 166-169. And now, I'm just left unsure of what to expect and where I stand.

Any input would be appreciated.
