This gives me hope. I started with 133 in February 2023 and scoring around 146-149 on my PT scores right now. Aiming for 160, but I would be happy with a 155 at least. Thank you for posting this!

This makes me so happy! You can definitely do it.

This is the one that I used, but I also find reading a short story or part of a novel (preferably fiction) to be helpful as it helps ease your mind and keeps you from overthinking.

137 --> 156 ... Thank You, 7Sage!

Hey 7Sagers,

I just wanted to make this post to tell everyone that there is hope for everyone to make it, including those who don't start off with a decent diagnostic score. My diagnostic score was a 137, my final (PT) score was a 156, and my final (test day) score was a 154.

I understand that this isn't a 170+ score, but I think that it's worth mentioning since it's a nearly 20 point increase.

I started studying in May of 2022 and finished in January of 2024. People say that you can't expect for your score to change much from your diagnostic, but I just wanted to say that it did for me, meaning it can and will for you too.

I self-studied using 7Sage and Loophole. I also used 7Sage Tutoring, which really helped me with RC, as that's the section I struggled most with.

I've struggled a lot with wondering if I'm good enough or smart enough for law school, and now I am a JD candidate at a Canadian law school.

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

I believe in you!

Don't talk down to yourself. Don't call it a "pathetic" 139. Everyone has to start somewhere. If this is your dream and this is something that you really want, then work for it and make it happen for yourself. There are so many LSAT tools and resources out there, as well as different studying methods. Find what works for you and stick to it.

Although it's always a good idea to have backup schools and to be open to things not working out exactly as you had hoped, it's also important that you put in as much time and energy as possible into studying for your goal score!!!

Good luck!

I agree^

I also do all 4 sections during my PTs, and then I BR all 4 sections. Otherwise, you won't know where you went wrong in that second LR section, and you may miss out on some valuable information!

For Q25, I don't understand why AC C is the correct AC. It states that 2 answers to the question (why slaves introduced and cultivated rice) are given, but I see 4 answers...

(1) it was a way to use land that's not suitable for cotton (paragraph 2)

(2) gave slaves independence (paragraph 2)

(3) cultural explanation --> viewed land as extension of self, wanted to make it their own (paragraph 4)

(4) political explanation --> a next step after emancipation (paragraph 4)

I tried to make sense of it and thought that maybe the 2 reasonings in paragraph 4 answer a different q (i.e., why the slaves transformed the land), but AC B -- which states that there are 2 qs -- is incorrect.

Guys when I first made this post, I just finished a PT and totally bombed it because I thought too hard about the time and pressure involved with this test and so I totally psyched myself out. My score was about 5 points below my normal score.

The next day, I decided to do another PT just because I didn't want to go a whole week thinking that my skills have gotten worse. Before taking the test, I did some read aloud meditations I found online and they definitely helped me!!! I'd recommend this to anyone who's in the same boat as me.

I would just try to accept the fact that you're not gonna get every question right 99% of the time, and know that you don't necessarily have to be perfect in every time management aspect, as you can't really know what the ideal time for each question is. Just go as you should, doing what you find quicker to solve, and skipping and going back to more mentally challenging questions later.

Very true. Thank you so much!!

The stress comes from somewhere. For me, it comes from lack of my own confidence. The more time I spend, even just logging in....the more confidence I feel. And honestly it's a practice test. Don't sweat it.

I did a PT, got tired and just spammed the RC. Not the best method, but it was all I could manage that evening. Showing up is half the battle. Just keep progressing. I find even when I feel I do not learn anything, the next week I intuitively recognize question types, where the conclusion may be, the premises, etc.

GL.

Hi James,

Thank you so much. I agree. I think it's a matter of confidence as well, as well as the pressure to do better each time.

Hi there! This is a really good question. I experienced basically the same thing. I would start taking PTs without the timer visible to you. You should still have it going, but not within your field of vision. Rather, I would set a timer that goes off every 5 minutes (for example). That way you still have something to give you some markers to keep you on track while to practice, but it is not the visible clock that can be so disruptive. As you get used to working with the timer, you can slowly start adding the actual, visible clock back in. I would start by making it visible only on the most low stress of the questions (say LR 1-5) and then slowly build up your confidence and endurance from there.

I hope this helps! Let me know if I can clarify anything!

Thank you so much for your response, James!!

I will definitely try that for my next PT!!

How do you guys not freak out during timed conditions?

There have been times in the past when I was doing a PT and I focused too much on the time remaining, causing myself to psych myself out. After that, I basically bombed the entire exam because I stressed myself out so much that I couldn't focus on the questions I was reading.

Have you guys experienced this, and do you have any tips for me?

When I do a game in a PT or a drill, I do it timed first, then again during BR, and if after BR I still am not at a -0, I take a few hours or a day and repeat the entire game untimed. If I can figure it out on my own (using my own inferences and my own gameboards), then I'll just go foolproof the game using my own strategies, rather than watching JY's explanation video. Am I wrong to be doing that? I'm wondering if this is preventing me from getting to a -0 as quickly. I have improved on my own though (averaging at about a -6), but I was just wondering if I'd be improving more and faster if I were to just always follow every single step that JY takes in his explanation videos?
