August 2024... What's your current study plan?

Heyyy ya'll! When LSAC released the decision of removing the logic games, I decided to hold off until August to take the test. That being said, I've been studying on and off for over a year and have been consistently studying while working a full time job since June. I finished the core curriculum and have been spending my time now drilling RC and LR, PTing, blind review, and wrong answer journal.

I'd love to know what YOU are doing if you are taking August LSAT! How are you divvying up your time? What are you focusing on? How often are you PTing? Any outside recources you are using besides 7sage? I'd love to know, thanks :)

Delete a pt section???

Is there anyway to get around not deleting an entire prep test because of one section? I had to pause PT49 section 3 before I even started it and now it says it is completed. Is there really no way for me to retake that one section? I felt really good about section 2 and do not want to delete my answers! Is there a way I could see the answers I put, delete the test, and then plug those answers in for the section I did take?

Same happened to me. I've heard, like the above comments say, that the best way is to submit it, appeal the denial, and explain that your parents do not assist you with your expenses.

Hi! I just used the new score converter tool to see what my last PT score would roughly be if it were the new test with no LG. To do so, I disregarded my missed points on LG and totaled my missed points on the 1 LR and 1 RC, which totalled to -11. According to the tool, that is a 168...

How can this be accurate? I scored a -8 on the Lg and a -7 on LR, so how could my score have jumped 10 whole points with no LG!??

Exactly! It's not a bother to me, but I'd hate to see someone put themselves in a bad situation or for 7sage to have issues

What do you mean "Logic reasoning games....in terms of LR"?

They probably just mean more questions involving conditional logic and needing to chain things together or translate

misread A in 14 to say Sun's mass, not Earth's mass. Are you kidding me. And I literally remembered that they said asteroids contain iron (C) so UGHHH. read carefully yall. check descriptive accuracy of key words.

review the 'foundations' lessons of the core curriculum. I also think its very important to understand conditional logic in your own words, this will help you intuitively make the translations instead of solely relying on memorizing the translation rules.

i would def take a diagnostic if you haven't just so you know what the test is like and have a baseline score, but I personally waited to start taking PT's until I finished the CC and had done some drilling. Then i started doing one PT a week and using the analytics tab on 7sage to start seeing patterns of wrong answers

4 Section PT for August Format?

Hi there,

I know it is important to simulate real test day conditions, which means making sure I have the stamina to do 4 sections to simulate the experimental section. However, 7sage's August 2024 version only has the 3 actual sections. Is there a way 7sage recommends practicing the August format but including 4 sections? Should I just immediately take an extra RC or LR section from another pretest right after I finish the 3 section PT?

Also, is it recommended to do this for EVERY PT, or should I just throw in a 4 section every once in awhile?

How would 170 go down if it is a curved exam? I am trying to understand. With LR and RC more people are likely to get more questions wrong, but if it is curved there should not be any issue with getting 170+. I am trying to understand this.

I think you are probably right on this. The same reason for why some 'harder' tests give you a 170 for -5/-6, whereas other 'easier' tests would curve a 170 at -3/-4 etc

I see drilling as really perfecting a technique or question type that you can then apply on a PT. Drilling is like a fighter practicing a certain move and PTs are like a sparring match, they both serve a different purpose. Drilling for me is helpful to really key in on issues I'm having, such as with a certain type of problem like LR Weakening or RC Science. You can do different types of drills, such as speed drills, to really nail down things like timing and what to look for specifically. If you find yourself hitting a score plateau while taking PTs, like I did, try looking up some different types of drills you can do and try to complete them in the target time.

ditto! For me PT = assess where I'm at if I were to take the real deal right now. Drilling = mastering skills for specific question types

7sage usually recommends using the earlier PT's for practicing / drilling and saving the newest PT's for actual PTing when you are farther along in your studies.

I can't print out any of the prep tests due to the file having a password on it and I cannot change the permission. This has been a continuous problem and would like some help

The password to open the files is your email to your 7sage account. It should say that when you click to print it!

Should I be doing 4 section PTs?

Hi, just wondering if it’s recommended to do 4 section PT’s to get your stamina up? Everytime or how often? And how can I best do this if I’m using the August test format?

Hi, please offer your advice! I have now finished LR and RC core lessons - I have no more lessons next. I have decided to take no LG August version, so still have -AMPLE- time to study. I am currently scoring in the low to mid 160's (last PT I scored a 164) and my dream score is 170+. I am extremely determined to get into a T6-T14 and have allocated the time to get my score where it needs to be.

My question is - now that I have finished all the core curriculum... what's next? Should I focus on drilling LR and then RC, work on my problem areas, then begin regularly PTing? Should I switch to books, then go back to 7sage in a few months? I have the Loophole book ready to read. Should I wait to consistently PT until the beginning of Spring to save my tests for when I'm more ready and closer to test date? Should I be focusing on drilling everday? Redo the lessons?

Really just asking what your next steps would be / what your study plan would look like. Any advice is helpful, thanks and good luck to you all!

Random Untimed Score

I’ve been PTing in the low to mid 160s (I should add that I haven’t been PTing much, I’ve probably completed 4-5 in the last 3 months because I had just finish the CC and was focused on drilling). My PT last week was 162 (which was lower than my last) and 167 BR. I made a lot of silly mistakes on it such as missing an “except” in question stem and misreading a premise to say the opposite. Since then I’ve been really hammering my main areas of weakness and taking time to go over my thinking. Anyway, since I was bored at work today I decided to do an Untimed PT since I knew I’d be interrupted. I scored a 175 (UNTIMED**) and a 176 BR. I just really don’t know what I should take away from this. I know this isn’t reflective of my score for a timed test. I don’t have any issue with timing in that I always finish and have a few min left over to go back, but can I infer that it’s an issue of not being able to apply my deeper knowledge in a fast enough pace? I guess I’m asking what you guys would take away from this in terms of applying it to your studying and getting the score under timed conditions?

AUG 2024: Will LR/RC Be Harder / Different?

I haven’t seen any discussion on this, but has there been any reason to believe that the RC or LR will be “harder” per se, or introduce new or old question types? I’m just trying to gauge how reflective PTing for it will be.

When to start drilling outside of lesson "you try"?

Hi! So I am planning on taking the August lsat because I have decided to not study LG anymore, as it was my weakest. I am about 80% done with LR and then have all 77 RC lessons, which I don't expect will take more than a month or two. Obviously, I have a long time to study, but I know that the drilling sessions and PT sessions are meant to be taken after you complete all the lessons. I do not want to waste clean, unused material before I can make the most of it (aka, until I've done all my LR and RC lessons). However, on the other hand, I want to make sure I am practicing enough without JY's help always being available. I also want to test myself on the LR typesI learned weeks ago.

My question is - should I not be creating drills (other than the "you trys"and drills at the end of each lesson set) until after I have completed all my lessons, or do you recommend doing some infrequent drilling on question types I'm not doing well on? My fear is that since I have given myself ample study time, I want to save as much material as I can for when I really am trying to master my skills, not build them.

Would love to hear other people's study patterns and whether or not they go through the entire syllabus before using the drill or PT pratice options.

Thanks all! good luck with your studies

edit - I should note that I am working full time as a paralegal on top of studying, so although I have until August, I am only devoting between 1-3 hours a day and sometimes I do not study on the weekend much.

How did you break into the 170's from high 160's?

Looking to hear from individuals who were able to break into the 170's or atleast a 170. I've been PTing in the mid 160's and BR'ing in the high 160s. I definitely have more studying to do and know I haven't hit a plateau yet, but I'm curious what you feel helped you make that jump specifically? Did you change your studying, did something click, a certain practice you started implementing, or just time and consistency?

Thanks :)

^^ if i had to guess, the problem is looking for a necessary assumption. So you asking for the difference is a good thing, because the correct answer will probably say exactly that!

This was my order: diagnostic --> core curriculum foundations --> core curric. LR --> drilling LR --> core curric. RC --> drilling RC --> drilling both sections --> began weekly PTS and drilled based on weak areas from each PT, reviewed related lessons as needed

hmm... maybe take a fresh practice test, timed, and then go to analytics on 7sage after, which will show you your weakest question types. Then go into the core curriculum and rewatch the lessons for your weakest sections/types and then begin drilling those. Then take another PT, assess strengths and weaknesses, repeat

When I'm not busy at work, I try to do most of my drilling then so I can have more time to relax after work. I focus my drills on my weakest question type areas and drill until 100%. then I'll do a full LR or RC section on some days during the week as well. I take a PT on Saturday and BR it on Sunday. Then i use those results to plan my drilling and focus areas for the next work week. I will say though that I tend to get lazy with PT'ing on the weekend bc im so tired so some weekends i dont do one (:/)

@-legally-brunette , out of curiosity, which version of this idea is more appealing to you? Drop-in events on the live class calendar or the calendar to sign-up for small-group sessions?

For me, drop in events because if I have nothing planned for studying and need some motivation, I can join whenever. But I also think study groups are a great idea for a more planned group study!

My issue with parallel flaw is i feel like the guidelines of what to pay attention to and what to ignore changes question to question, so I really do not have a concrete method with these. One question its important to match the amount words like "most, all, some" and eliminate those that don't match, but then for this one, the reasoning on picking A over D is soooo convoluted and requires so much over-thinking. Just nothing tangible for me with parallel in terms of a plan of attack. Could really use anyone's tips or tricks?!

As title says, at this point in my studying i am only really getting the 5 star difficulty questions wrong. When i take untimed tests, I'm scoring in the high 170s (ik this doesn't matter lol), but on timed, I'm still scoring in the mid 160s and sometimes high 160s because of these dang 5 star questions!

Btw I am taking August lsat, no LG.

What seems to be the preferred method of studying when you reach this point? I recently also got an lsat lab subscription so I have more explanations available for these 5 star questions (7sage is great, but many explanations are missing or seemed rushed through). But other than drilling 5 stars and the ones I've got wrong, and going over them until i am 100% confident why its right, is there anything else I can be doing? Maybe specific types of drills or like confidence drills? I honestly don't know. I'm getting so tired of months and months of studying. I also have the loophole book so maybe that for LR help? I know I'm capable of 170s but not sure what that final push I need is. I feel like I've hit a plateau.
