139-164!

On December 26, 2015, I decided to take the LSAT. I bought a book from Barnes and Noble, immediately registered to take the test February 6th 2016. My first practice test I ever took, I got a 139. When I took the test, I got a 155. After I got my score, I signed up for 7Sage. I'm a mom of 3 (my kids are 7, 5, & 3), and I work full-time, so while I wasn't able to study as much as I would've liked, I put in my best effort, and I was able to pull a 164 out of the December LSAT. While not a 170, I'm still really proud of myself for hitting the 90th percentile. I just want to encourage anybody that feels like they're never going to improve their score, or like their starting score is "too low" to see a big improvement! Stick with it, and trust the process, even when it sucks. Happy Holidays, 7sagers!

Currently feeling this RIGHT NOW- I feel like I'm drilling, BR, doing all of the things- and I'm just totally stuck in the same spot. It feels like the score I'm getting is just going to be the score I get forever, no matter how much I study. I made an LSAT Hype playlist on Spotify and I'm just trying to drive on lol.

My first diagnostic was a 139. I studied for 5 weeks, took the actual LSAT, and got 155. I'm studying now to retake and my best so far has been 166. Hang in there!

SO frustrated (timing help!)

I have been PTing for a while now, and I got my best score of 166 about 2 weeks ago. I was feeling really encouraged, and I thought I had rounded a corner, and would maybe be able to hit 170 by test day in September. After I got the 166, I took 3 more practice tests- and I bombed. I couldn't figure out why, but all of the sudden I didn't have enough time to finish the sections, and I was left scrambling to guess on lots of problems. Long story short, after 3 tests following my 166, where I scored low (158, 157, 154) I noticed my timer on the proctor of the app was off. Instead of being set for 35 mins a section, it was set to 30 mins a section, which means I was getting the 5 minute warning after only 25 mins. I felt deeply relieved to have a partial-reason for my lower score. But even still, now when I'm taking a test with the correct timer, Im not performing as well as I was- my entire perception of time is OFF. I feel rushed even when I don't need to be, and I'm frantic and panicky pretty much the entire test. When I try to slow down, and work through problems, I slow down TOO much. I'm hoping that as I readjust to the correct time, I'll be able to bring my score back to where I'm consistently scoring in the mid to high 160's, but I'm feeling super frustrated. Does anybody have any good timing tips, or has anybody had something similar happen?

Thanks for this post! I am in a similar boat and am considering postponing. I was stuck in the mid 160's- my highest so far is a 166. I was feeling really confident, thought I had broken my plateau of 163ish, and maybe I had rounded a corner... then after I got a 166, I got a 158 and a 157 on my next two practice tests. Small mental collapse followed shortly after. I'm trying to do really deep, intentional reviews to figure out what I'm doing wrong, and I think my main problem is timing. The questions I do at the beginning and middle of the test I get right, and then you can actually see on my tests where I realize I'm running out of time and I start rushing and start making stupid mistakes and still end up guessing on a few. This is probably not helpful advice, but I just wanted to share that I am in a similar place, and it's incredibly frustrating. Sending you good vibes!

This is so encouraging for me to hear! I'm not nearly done with all of the curriculum yet, but even though I'm feeling like I'm improving- I'm still not scoring better on my practice tests, and that's been weighing on me. This gives me motivation to persevere! Good work!!!
