Yeah I agree with godawgs (nice name by the way haha). At this point you want to focus on weak points/review areas that you're not comfortable with. At the same time, if you put a lot of effort and time into the LG, that's a certain number of points you are guaranteeing yourself (assuming you get a grasp of it) on the exam. The LR section will always present a challenge so a really good LG and RC combine score gives you a cushion against a potentially weak LR section.

Maybe not. I might be doing the December one as well, depending on how I do this Saturday. I'm from northern jersey as well, so if you'd like to talk more, my email is immanueladeola@.com

Where are you taking the actual exam?

With regard to those who wished they have rescheduled their exam even though they were not far away from their overall goal, I would think you would want to at least get a good idea/feel for the test, then re take it in December and score higher? Unless taking it more than once counts against you in the admissions process.

Hey thanks a lot! Great idea on re taking PT 58. And I am having everything packed by Thursday night too and in my car Friday morning! I was able to find a great website that has a lot of free LG practice called cambridgelsat.com if you're interested. Do you know where I can find RC questions?

Final Week Prep Options

Hey everyone, hope you are all hanging in there as we approach Saturday. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions/advice about the kind of prep work to do in the last week? I know the idea is to hone in on weaknesses and review the concepts surrounding them. I was wondering if there was anything else to add to that list?

Thanks for any advice/ suggestion you can offer and I wish you all the best of luck!

I think you're right Madeleine, and that's where my head is at really. I guess I'm just trying to figure out if there's a better way. But I'm just gonna approach everything with a clean mind, and see if I missed anything.

Thanks!

And jeje that's similar to what I'm doing too to. The LG can be incredibly difficult if you don't know/understand how to approach the different games, but it can also be incredibly easy if you can quickly create a mental picture of the question, diagram well, and make inferences and or deductions! It used to be my worse section but now I love it!! Once you get a hang of how to diagram well and understand the rules they give you, as well as what those rules explicitly and implicitly tell you, the whole process gets easier!

The LR is still a challenge, but I'm thinking that the best approach is to make a step by step guide of how you feel comfortable approaching it, and practice that over and over again.

Good luck!

I agree with everything that has been said. I graduated with my BA in May, and did a summer internship as well, which also ended in August. My one regret is that I signed up for the September LSAT thinking I could juggle a part time internship in politics with LSAT prep (and watching the World Cup!) but I couldn't do so effectively. I didn't cancel my score because I think its good to have an accurate measure of where I am.

But I'm taking the December LSAT with the mindset of getting into law school for Fall 2015. I'm not working or doing any job hunting until after my LSAT exam. I think its a huge sacrifice to take a gap year to get ready for law school, but it is also a worthwhile investment. If you are able to marshal all your brainpower, attention, and resources into the law school process, you will definitely be able to get into a good law school. As long as you have the loving financial and emotional support of your family or relatives, which is critical for a gap year, success is just a matter of you doing the best you can with what you have!

I know you're all aware of the bleak job market for lawyers right now (which apparently the BLS says will get better starting in 2018 haha), and it's gonna get worse in the upcoming years before it gets better. So I think that makes it important and worthwhile to do everything possible to get into a top law school as to place ourselves in a better position in the legal job market after three years of law school and God knows how much in debt. So hang in there man, we're all here with you.

And props to all of you for the support you give each other! I hope we all get perfect scores and laugh about this during 2L at Harvard haha. (I might consider a career in motivational speaking if law school doesn't work out)

Second LSAT in December- Strategies

I took the September exam, and walked out of the test center confused and flustered. It was challenging, but I couldn't really tell you how I did on it. I was in the mid 150s before the test, and I thought maybe if I had luck on my side I could reach 160 on the real thing. However, I don't think I did, so I'm retaking it in December.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about how I can improve to the mid to late 160s before then. My strongest section is the LG, and my weakest is the LR. I'm tempted to start my prep from the beginning and re learn all the concepts and strategies necessary to do well. But that feels like a waste of valuable time.

Anyone have any suggestions about how to prepare for December?

Thanks!!

@, I had this problem on the actual test! I suppressed all my emotions and nervousness the morning of the September LSAT rather than letting them out and gathering myself mentally before arriving at the test center! My first section was awful; I wasn't sticking with my time strategy, and I got flustered by two difficult questions mid way through it.

So my advice is just take a moment to yourself to prepare yourself mentally before delving into any PT. I think it could help situate your mind and put you in "BEAST MODE" so you can do your best work!

Hang in there and good luck!

Hey Madeleine! I'm from jersey (lol just sad I know but I love my state!) but I'd still like to be added to any email/text chain that you create so I can also keep track of how my fellow LSATers are doing. I haven't been fortunate to meet anyone in my area taking the exam, with whom I can prepare. Maybe I can come up to NYPL a few times before December and study with you guys. Thanks! My number is [edited out], and my email is immanueladeola@.com
