Has anyone tried Manhattan's RC strategy? It seems like a waste of mental energy to me, but other people swear by it. If any of you have tried it, I'd be interested in knowing your experiences. Thanks!

Hi,
For the second time in a row now I've BR'd 180 (missed one, still 180...) and have timed scores of 165 and 163. In other words, I can figure out the right answers... I just can't do it in nearly enough time. Leaving 4 or 5 bubbles blank per section is pretty disastrous to one's score but I've been going for accuracy over speed. Will the speed eventually come? I've only done 5 prep tests so far. I'm starting to worry though because it "feels" like I'm maxing out my possible pace.
Thanks much.
I realize this is subjective, but I have the opportunity to take a week off from work in September. If I don't take this vacation time, I could cash it out when I leave next summer. So just to get a feel from you all, what would you pay assuming it wouldn't break the bank but would be a significant amount of money? Thanks!
Hi there, I got a December score that was 3-4 points below my PT average. I know I can do better, and my score on record is marginal at best for schools I am targeting. Should I apply now or wait until I get a (hopefully 3+ point higher) February score? And if I apply before receiving my February score and am rejected, can I reapply after receiving a higher Feb score? Thanks much.
Thanks... but cannnn't! I may need to buy that PS4 after all.
I'm curious to know what you guy's gut feeling was in relation to your actual score, and how many of your answers were actual guesses. I have a gut feeling score, but I'm hoping I did a couple better... :/
I don't have a PS4... I hear they're evil and make time disappear hours at a time, if not days.
Well, I just signed up for the Feb. administration to make sure I get my preferred testing center. I don't think I "bombed" the December test, but unless I get some good bubbling luck, I'm still half a dozen points below my potential...
I've been thinking these past few days about the South Park episode where Cartman attempts to cryogenically freeze himself in a snowbank for 2 months so he doesn't have to live with the agony of waiting for the Wii to be released...
@.mot benjamin.mot
I'm almost sure that was on the 25 question section.
Anyone who is considering getting into law for the money should consider starting a watch company instead...
Hi everyone, I hope your studying is going well as we get closer to T-Day. I now have 2 weeks free for the sole purpose of LSAT studying, which is great. However, I'm looking now and find myself at a loss as of how to approach things. I already have done 7Sage's curriculum, so I'm guessing I should be in PT/BR only mode now. Should I still stick a 3-per-week test limit or would 5 not be unreasonable right now? Thanks!
You don't need to pop out the knob on the 180 watch? :o I may need to get one...
Did you know Ted Bundy got a letter of rec to law school from the Governor of his state? Craziness.
I've given up trying to fight it. :p I keep trying to remember how many I might have guessed in each section, how many I might have missed, checking different curve charts, running cumulative probability computations for different numbers of guesses, etc. I doesn't help that my hunch is I'm EXACTLY on the score of my target given fair luck distribution and a -12 curve. I'm teetering on the verge of the 75% percentile for the schools I've been most realistically hoping for.
Kaila, all of those real on a 25 q section
Kennedy, that is how it's done, yep. Curve was set before anyone took it unfortunately.
I don't think pushing the test back till June (and still having September/October as a back up) would be a bad idea at all. I say give yourself a breather for a month or 2 and get to improving those logic games. (Buy a 7sage package if you haven't already ;) )
There was a general consensus that the RC got harder through the 50's/60's and the LG a little easier, but I think that has been reversing.
Honestly, I think JY has made the LG's be created trickier. He's the first google search result for any LG search and I think the test makers have had to make things a little more non-formulaic to counteract people getting a good feel for how to do the standard sequencing/grouping games quickly. I wish his logic games videos weren't free. Just sayin... ;)
I'm on the "do no spam" option with LSAC... maybe I should change that if it will get some fee waiver offers.
I change ballast water in cargo ships for a living... (kidding)
Guitars/banjos... yeah that one made me think more than most. I'm not sure if I got it right, I think I skipped it at first. Another time consuming gem was the rainforest/deciduous tree nightime nocturnal food searches. Also the seal vs. dolphin diving depth question was weird, it was a brief logic game more than any anything.
I did the same as many many other people, apparently -- a 15 second look at Game 3 and then "lol wut, no" and then onto Game 4, which didn't strike me as particularly hard. I split boards on every rule. Game 3... I bruted the first one and then the rest I guessed... no A's at all. So maybe one of us will do ok, @
Hmm. Well, the 26 was real for sure.
Is the general consensus that even if not harder, this test was at least as hard as the October test? If so, with the October test being a relatively kind -12, I'm feeling a lot better...
Joseph, if you go that route, I recommend one thing: Getting a watch with a large winder knob. I had one with a teeny one and it was just too (painfully) annoying and time consuming to dig my finger nail under it to pull it and wind it.
Wow, exactly the opposite of my experience, Pacifico... maybe the test day conditions just made it feel harder.
Is it crazy to take the exam without having done any studying in 2 months? And quick life advice...?
I was pretty burnt out by the date of the December exam. I didn't do my best, and now I'm wondering if I should just cancel my registration for tomorrow and do what I'm sure will be a better job in June for the next enrollment cycle, when I'll have my apps in at a better date also. But then, I'm "old" (30+ crowd) and waiting another year seems pretty severe. If I were 25, I'd definitely just retake in June while prepared to the best of my abilities. Or should I just roll the dice tomorrow and hope for a better score, even after a 2 month hiatus? Any advice is appreciated.
Let's do this! Knock those questions dead and best of luck in all your guesses. :]
Got it. Not good, man. Not good. It was my first take... I will probably wait another year. Big disappointment. The whole problem was reading comp; I don't know what the hell happened. Everything else was exactly what I expected. :/
Good luck, everyone... whatever I got, I know 7Sage added at least 5 to it! :)
Hi everyone. Like all 7Sagers, I will be crushing the test on Saturday. :) However, I was wondering if, under the scenario that I am waitlisted with my December score and then take the February exam and score a few points higher, it would be a significant boost in my waitlist odds? In other words, is it worth it to study a little more and retake in February if I suspect I could still boost my score some? I am definitely applying for this cycle. Thanks!
I'm registered for Saturday's administration. I am not ready but if I score at the highest end of my PT's, it will be acceptable if I somehow bomb December's administration. The biggest problem is I am quite sick with a viral chest cold right now and it is not improving. I have a cough that I cannot suppress and I pity anyone who would have to sit near me.
On the other hand, I am definitely applying for this cycle. I just am not going to wait another year... and so it seems like I don't have much to lose from taking it Saturday.
Please advise?
I'm sure I'm within 3 of my PT average also... unfortunately, that is the difference between success and most likely a disastrous end to this cycle. :(
