I understand why E is correct. But doesn't D deny an alternative hypothesis- that the unhealthy food leads to a long life. in some strange world. by saying that there are people who eat unhealthy food and still dont live past 100.

@MeganBellfield for anyone else thinking this. this conditional can't be set up because it says Tech improvements 'will enable" which just means to give authority, it opens the door for the possibility of increased food production, but does not 'cause' it. hope this helps!!
