I'm still a little confused. the effect is due to the filtration, regardless of whether or not the jury knew of it happening it still had the effect. I chose D because it is the only answer that seems to bypass the barrier of the filter. In "D" there is an alternative means of arriving at a conclusion. Now the effect is not because of the filter but instead because of the outside knowledge

definitely, but I think you an aim higher than that. Mid to low 160's is reasonable
