I think this was done on purpose. The LSAT is worded in way that is purposefully confusing, too wordy, and not to the point to test how well you are able to find the main point of the text despite the 'bad' way it was written. As for the structure of the questions all being the same and you 'gaming the system', I think that is exactly what the questions were trying to get you to do. The LSAT is a test of recognising patterns in questions and using the patterns to your advantage.
