Question regarding timing... Need Help.

Hey guys, so I had been struggling with finishing sections on time until I saw one of JY's videos of one of his students doing an entire LR section. I saw her reading the stimuli and if it didn't make sense at first, she would waste no time, circle it, and move on to the next question. This strategy has been great for me. I skip ones i don't know now and come back to them during "round 2" once I finish answering all the questions. My problem is that every time i take a PT, i usually struggle either finishing RC on time or LG on time... The time usually ends and i have 2-3 questions i don't get to finish answering. SO my question is, what do you guys do to improve your timing on those sections? Is skipping recommended on RC and LG? I'd love to hear back from you guys. Thanks.

Question about warming up on test day...

Hey guys, I just have a simple question. Im planning on doing about 7 LR questions and an easy game before the test on Saturday and I was wondering if we should warm up outside at the testing center or at home before we leave the house? Also, if anyone can think of any easy Logic game, i'd appreciate it haha. I want something simple on test day just to get my brain going. (Same for LR.) Thanks!

So my issue is that I'm trying to raise my score from a 160 to 165 by December and am focusing on the games for a few weeks to do this. My question is just that when I do these games, should i just be doing them over and over again until i perfect all the inferences within the time limit, or should i be BR'ing before looking to the videos for explanations? What i've been doing so far is doing each game timed and then looking to the videos for explanations on the ones i missed. Then i put the game away for a few days and try it again a few days later and see if i can make the inferences i missed the first time around within the suggested target time.(I usually score anywhere between 17-20 on the LG section during PTs so I'm trying to get as close to perfect on the games as i can.)

As far as caffeine, i did a few days of test run PTs where i would wake up at 6 am and test at 9 am sharp. During those days, I would only drink one bottle of water along with one cup of coffee to see how often I'd have to use the restroom, etc. I found out that that's the perfect amount for me and i only had to go during break every time, which was perfect. Maybe you want to do a test run this week just to see what's the right amount for you?

Well during my timed take, I just kind of caught that the last part was the conclusion due to in large part because of the negation test on answer choice A. When i negated A, the entire argument fell apart. But then later on during the BR session, a lot of people had trouble picking between A and C because they too had thought that undeniably bold was the conclusion. JY explained that the conclusion was the last part of the stimulus so i ended up getting it right just kind of based off instinct rather than a definitive way because of the time limit. It's kind of hard to say that making assertions with utter certainty and confidence means you're bold.

I'm not sure if I'm even making sense at this point because I wrote a lot but if you negate C. (people who are bold make public assertions with utter certainty and confidence.), the argument is not necessarily ruined because the stimulus does not say the the new mayor is bold BECAUSE he makes assertions with utter certainty and confidence.

I hope i made sense haha. That's just how i ended up getting it correct.

The first sentence is more like context and the conclusion is the last part.

Disadvantage Addendum?

Hey guys, so one of the schools I'm applying to has an optional section called disadvantage addendum and the prompt says "Please describe the socio-economic disadvantages you have overcome." How long should these be? What sorts of things are included in this? I'd appreciate any feedback. thanks!

For sure burnout. Ive had this happen to me before as well, which is kind of why I'm only going to be drilling from now until the 3rd so i can give my brain some time to relax while also remaining sharp with some drilling everyday.

Really random question...

I was just wondering if it's possible to apply to different law schools with different LSAT scores? For example, hypothetically, can i apply to a school with a 160 for example early in the application process because i know a 160 will be good enough BUT then apply later in the application process with a 170 score to a different school? I'm asking to see if i can apply to my back up schools with a lower score early in the process to make sure i get in and receive scholarships while still having the chance to apply to the better schools later on in the application process if i improve my LSAT score.

@ @ Yeah, same here. Planning on just taking a section per day next week just to remain sharp.

@ Yeah that's what I'm planning on doing. Going to take PT 79 this week and then that's it for PT's. I'll just focus on some drilling and light stuff next week.

What to do the final 2 weeks before the test?

Hey guys, so I'm going to take the December LSAT and maybe retake in FEB if i need to but I'm just wondering what i should do the final week before the test? Im planning on taking PT 79 on Tuesday and attending the BR session that JY is going to have but then I'm not sure what to do for the final week to stay sharp. Should i just keep doing separate sections of LG,RC, LR, and just BR them afterwards just to stay sharp? What do you guys suggest? I was thinking about having PT 79 be the last practice test i take so i can take it semi easy the final week leading up to the test.

@ @ do you guys know if a "disadvantage addendum" is the same thing as a diversity statement? The prompt says to talk about any socio-economic disadvantages you have overcome. Or is that different from a diversity statement?

That's my only question to be honest... I've scored 164 on a few occasions before but these new tests dropped me closer to a 160 so I'm most likely postponing to December. Just wondering if I go over past tests, drill LG and BR, it should be a realistic goal to get to 165 average by December, right? Thanks for the feedback. I know i've posted a couple times now recently but I just want to make sure I'm setting realistic goals.

Reading Comprehension very annoying... lol.

Any tips on how you guys improved reading comp? I'm signed up for December and have been fool proofing LG's 1-35 and I'm already seeing improvements. I just took PT 62 and scored a 163, which is close to where I want to be.(165+ preferably) My problem is that I scored a 163 despite my terrible RC score. 22/26 and 23/26 were my LR scores as well as a 20/23 for LG... However, I scored a 13/27 on RC. I usually average 16-20 on RC but, 13? lol. Pretty annoying to be honest because I feel like I'm improving everywhere else. I don't even know if there is a clear cut way to improve RC but I guess I'm going to have to incorporate a lot more RC passages into my daily studying. This is more of a rant/ asking for advice type of post. Appreciate any feedback!

Question about name on personal statement?

Hey guys, this might be a really silly question but do we need to include our names and a title for our personal statement? I finished mine and i realized I'm over the page limit by a few lines and I'm wondering if i have to leave my name and a title in there because if i don't, i can save space that way. thanks in advance!

Hello guys, so I just had a realization that I did not want to face but I might have no choice. So my goal score is a 165 and I have taken a total of 11 PTs. My scores were 158,164,161,161,164,162 for the first 6 tests, which were fine by me and I felt as though I can take the September test and get pretty close to my target score. HOWEVER, here is my issue. I recently took PTs 73-76 in order to gear up for the September LSAT during the past week or two and I scored 158,158,159, and a 154 (which is what made me write this.). Seeing that 154 just sucked man because I was hoping to be ready by September. I'm now realizing that I may have to take the December and February(if needed) tests instead. Anyway, i have a few questions for you guys. 1. Am i making the right choice by postponing? 2. From where I'm averaging, is a 165 possible by December? Im asking this question with my recent scores of 158,158,159 and 154 in mind. These recent PTs seem to have been more difficult for me as my averages have dropped. 3. If a 165 is possible, what is the best possible approach I can take in my studying from now until December? I would appreciate ANY suggestions because I'm willing to hear out all advice. I was taking PTs almost every other day in order to get ready for September but Im now realizing that I might have made a mistake with that. Should I take less PTs per week and spend more time on BR? I would appreciate the feedback guys. I really want to be averaging a 165 by December so I want to make sure i approach studying the right way since I had to figure out the hard way that only 3-4 months of studying isn't going to cut it.

Personal Statement Question...

Do we have to talk about why we are applying to a particular law school in our personal statements? Some of the schools I'm applying to do not ask for a "Why School X?" type essay so do we have to talk about that in the personal statements even if it's not asked of us in the prompts?

Do you catch yourself making simple mistakes?

So i'm taking the December test with a goal of 164-165+ and I really feel as though I'm ready. I sometimes take PT's and make such silly errors though. For example, I usually get the easy questions correct but on my most recent PT, i missed a 1/5 star question for logical reasoning and a 2/5 star question. I know those ratings aren't fully accurate but it's just that i'll sometimes miss that very "easy" question but then get the harder ones correct. Does this happen to anyone? Because upon review, its so obvious what the right answer is but once in a while, ill just get an easy one or two wrong and it bothers me a lot haha because I just feel like I could've gotten a higher score had I not missed those "easy" ones.

I was planning on just going to my CC and requesting them to send in my transcripts. And then just order my transcripts to be sent from my university as well. I'm just not sure if I still need the transfer request forms or not? Thanks!

How to indicate I'm taking Feb LSAT on apps?

Hey guys, I'm just wondering where i indicate that i plan to take the FEB LSAT on my applications. I took the DEC LSAT and got a score I'm fairly happy with. However, i think that i can do better since i had 0 sleep the night before so I'm planning on taking it again in FEB but i want to send in my apps this weekend. Some schools I'm applying to give me the option to indicate whether or not I'm taking the FEB LSAT but others don't so I'm wondering where I can indicate this on my apps? thanks guys

A similar thing happened to me where I'm usually strong on games but i got to game 4 with 10 minutes left on the clock and couldn't really figure out the game board so i ended up taking educated guesses for the entire last game. This also kind of shook my confidence for the final LR section. Either way, I'm keeping my score because i want a score on record to apply with and if I'm not happy with my score, I can always retake. I think u should keep your score.

Yeah, it does help. I actually ended up putting my CC under other institutions as well. I just ended up just marking Bachelors even though i didn't get my bachelors at CC obviously haha. @

Question about CAS on LSAC website...

Hey guys, this isn't really relating to the LSAT but I'm trying to figure out where we input the community college we attended on the Credential Assembly Service. Under "Bachelor's Degree-Granting Institution," I inputted the University that I attended but I don't see where we have to input our community college attended. What did you guys put it under? Thanks!

So... my question is whether I'm making the right decision by taking the September LSAT. I have a 3.8 GPA and I'm aiming for a 164-166 on the LSAT... Now, from the last 5 PT's, I've scored 161 twice, 164 twice and a 162. I've noticed that on days where I wake up feeling really good, I end up getting a 164, which makes me feel like I'm literally RIGHT there at around a 164-166 range. The issue is that i'd wanna hit the score a few more times before test date so i can go in confidently. (Which can still happen given that i have a couple more weeks.) Another thing is that if I do miss my target score by a couple points, I can take it again in December with a bit more improvement so I'd have two tries at it. Anyway, i feel like this post is all over the place lol. What do you guys think? (I also want to take the test earlier so i can submit my apps earlier, which would give me an advantage in the application process.) I'd appreciate any feedback.

Based on what I can remember, I think either section 3 or 4 was the experimental for me but i was wondering if anyone who took the same test can confirm that for me since I can't seem to remember which section these questions were from lol. Experimental Section for Logical Reasoning??

Hey guys, so i took the Feb LSAT and i had three logical reasoning sections. Does this happen to you??

I was just wondering if anyone else goes through this... Sometimes, 1. while taking a PT, I lose concentration during certain portions of the test, which end up hurting my score. Does this happen to you? How do you stay focused throughout the entire test? And 2. During Logic Games, the time pressure makes me miss questions I should have easily gotten correct. When i go back to BR, it really confuses me how I miss some of the questions because I completely see my mistakes when I BR. Anyway, this is pretty frustrating because when I have days where I focus better, I usually score at the higher end of my range, and it's just frustrating to not consistently score as high as I can.

Couple General Questions...

Hey guys, I was just wondering if I can get some feedback on a couple issues.

So I'm taking the December LSAT and i was wondering if waking up at 6 am everyday during the final week leading up to the test will be a good enough sleep schedule to get myself ready for Saturday and be able to fall asleep on Friday. (Im also planning on waking up at 6 am a few more times during this month during PT's in order to assimilate game day.) That's my first question.

My second question is whether or not to take any type of sleeping pill the night before the test because i really don't want to struggle going to sleep or something. (I would obviously test the sleeping pills beforehand during a PT to see how it affects me but i just want general feedback on that idea.)

Finally, what are some good breakfasts to have ON the day of the test?

Thanks guys.

@ yeah idk why I said 3 weeks haha I think it comes out January 4th. I feel okay about the test but idk if I should take off a whole month while I wait for the results or not. Tough decision. That's why I was hoping to get some other opinions

Hey guys so I just took the DEC LSAT and my goal was to hit 165+. I didn't get sleep the night before at all (I don't really know why this happened...) so i went in today thinking I'm pretty screwed... But it ended up being not so bad apart from losing a bit of concentration during Section 3, which may have very well been the experimental section, and the last game. I felt like the test went good enough to where i might have hit my goal. However, since i won't know if thats the case or not, i was planning on completing my law schools apps by the time the scores get released and then deciding whether or not i want to keep studying for a FEB retake. Now, my question is, is this a good idea? Or is taking off 3 weeks to wait for the results and work on my apps too long of a break from the LSAT in case I would have to retake?

Hey guys, so I started studying around June and have been going pretty consistently for about 4+ hours a day since then and I've noticed that I sometimes some neck pains that get pretty bad and result in me having to just stop studying all together for that day.
