On some PTs you need 9 wrong to get a 170, while on others you can have 11 wrong and get a 170.
Is that an indication of difficulty or just something I shouldn't worry about?

I started taking the train to work and I love that I can go on 7sage without any issues from my phone!
I recall JY saying in the intro lectures that 7sage was fully compatible with mobile devices. I encourage all students to take advantage of this feature!
And of course: thanks 7sage!
CJ do you think going over recent PTs is a good idea? I want to do 2 sections each of LR, RC, and LG before the test day.
Its a video game. Has a terribly toxic community though so unless you want to deal with horrible people I'd suggest staying away from it.
I just took PT 50 after going through the syllabus and I did TERRIBLY on the LR. I just blanked out while taking the test because some of the LR questions were SOOO much harder than the questions I drilled using Cambridge packets.
I got 1 wrong on RC (ran out of time on the last question... but I got it right during blind review! still I did run out of time...), 14 wrong on LR (S***!!!! Even after blind review I had 8 wrong :/), and 2 wrong on LG (missed an inference... thankfully got it during blind review).
I couldn't even understand some of the LR stimuli and wanted to cry lol.
How do you suggest I go about getting better at LR? My plan was to do PT's every 3-4 days in August and September starting from #50 and hope to hit 175+ but after this I feel like an idiot. I followed JY's methodology (I think 7sage is the best course I've taken to prepare for LSAT) but there is something wrong with my comprehension level that I am still struggling. How can I improve? Please I have just two months to set LR straight.
I scored a 16x something on the 2007 june PT.
tl;dr My comprehension level is lacking when it comes to LR questions and I am unable to understand some of the stimuli. I know I can do the questions because 7sage's methods have been VERY helpful but I was unable to answer some of the LR's on the PT in time even though I did reasonably well when going thru cambridge drill packets answering each question in less than 1.5 min.
Battlefield 3 for 1 hr before I go to bed. 10:30-11:30
My reward for a day of study, work, etc.
thx avery i will fix my example. i was on my phone wasn't really paying attention to the logic i was just trying to give a general example.
glad u are able to see the difference daniel. GL.
Hey guys,
Since the test is 8 days away, I planned on reviewing about 4 sections each of LR and RC from older tests. Do you think it is a good idea? Should I do more? Less? Would using PTs 55, 57, 59, 61 be okay? I already took those but I don't think I remember any answers from them. They're also recent enough...
I have yet to take PT 69. I plan on taking that on Sunday.
Thanks
I love it when LSAC puts an easy question after a hard question. Its a free morale power up.
I wasn't able to figure out the conclusion.
Please help!
in argument part questions, you are asked to explain the purpose of a part of an argument.
for example:
hot surfaces are red. this surface is hot. thus, this surface is red.
what is the role played by 'this surface is hot'? Well, it is the conclusion!
in method of reasoning questions, you usually have to explain the way the argument works. How does the argument reach its conclusion?
for example:
when it is sunny, rob always walks to work. today it was not sunny, so rob probably drove to work.
What is the method of reasoning here? the correct answer choice could be something like "show that something is probable by ruling out an alternative"
I'm still getting like 10 wrong in LR and its disheartening because I've been taking timed sections out of PTs (don't have time to do full length except on weekend) and I just seem to do so badly on LR than any other section.
I'm getting -0 to -2 on RC and LG combined but LR has been a nightmare.
I need a score as high as I can get so I can beat the declining medians and get into a good school. However, this is proving hard because I'm getting 10 wrong on LR...
Alan!
I noticed you added a little notification after we submit a comment :D
thanks!
How do I diagram this?

FIRST OF ALL I APOLOGIZE FOR MAKING A MISTAKE IN THE GAME ABOVE.
FIXED IT.
SORRY FOR MISLEADING ANYONE!!!! REREAD IT!!!
man i suck at teaching other ppl im sorry. shasang i hope i didnt confuse u lol.. if you have a specific example i'll be glad to help u with that... if i make up my own i'll just mess it up hahaha
God #26.. wth LSAC. Why even ask that lol... I get why C is right after hearing your explanation but I thought it would be B.
Just something I've been doing a lot lately that I think might help some ppl out.
I commute every day to work, so I leave in the morning and my dad drops me off at the train station and then I ride the train to work. (it really freaking sucks spending 2 hrs 45 min a day commuting!!!)
Using my smartphone, I usually read articles related to tech or science on the train, and as I read I try ask myself questions like "what was the author's purpose in mentioning _______" or "what function does the word _________ serve in this sense" as I go through each article. When you're reading try to do the fool proof method JY talked about where you ingrain the main point of each paragraph in your mind. Then, at the end of the article, ask yourself MSS and inference type questions. Be creative!
I find most of these articles through news.google.com and search for new science, tech, or world news type articles.
I am sure that most of these articles are not of the caliber presented on the LSAT but just reinforcing the methodology used to go through a LSAT passage is VERY helpful.
When I first started studying for RC I found it tough to get through so much material but now I am relieved when I turn the page to the next section and see a passage. Hopefully you will also like the RC section more if you read some articles. The general knowledge you gain might even be helpful on the test!
I remember some people asking what sort of magazines they can read that might help them. Using something like google news is really simple and if you have a smartphone or a tablet and internet access you can build your RC skills on the go!
as a side note, i would not be too concerened if you aren't 100% through in the percent bar.
it counts the included PT explanations as part of the completeness, and sometimes you don't go through all the questions because its kind of hard to get 100 questions wrong lol...
just make sure you complete all the lessons fully. the lessons are sooo good :D
for such games, your inference diagram is your best friend.
Here's a very simple example... let's say you have 6 variables: A B C D E F
after going through the givens, you come up with this inference:
/A -> B -> C ->/E
and B -> /F
D is a floater.
What's the maximum number who can be in?
well... you can have D in and you can have B and C in as well, which gives 3. But, if you run the contrapositive, you have E and A in, B and C out, and you don't know anything about F so you can add F in and then bring in the floater D. Now, you have 4 max.
BUT...
if you have F in, B is out and A is in. You can also have C in and E out, and D as well, so now you have 4 as well!
So, you can have most (4) in when either C, F or E in. I messed this example up, but the underlying concept should still be helpful...
EDIT: I MADE A FOOL OF MYSELF HERE LOL... FIXED IT ^^^^^^ If someone else can come up with a better game example please do so... i'm terrible at teaching others hahahaha
Remember, negating sufficient condition doesn't tell you anything about the necessary condition. If I don't have B for example, I can have F in or out. But if I have B in for sure, then of course F is out.
I "retook" PT 66 and did so much better. Yay! :D
CJ and others, how do you go over LR questions you got wrong? Is there some different strategy you guys use? I can remember the correct answer... but I try to convince myself the other 4 choices are wrong.
welp I was sick this weekend so I got my relaxation Friday and Saturday :P
James I'm in the same boat. I went from PT'ing 171-173 to 167 on PT 66.
I'm going to take a break as well.
Any tips on reviewing PTs I've already done?
I can remember literally every answer when I take a PT and it annoys the crap out of me. I like my memory because it helps me in RC but not when it comes to reviewing old PTs!!!!!!
Just took PT 65.
-0 LG. -1 RC. -14 LR.
What
The
Hell
I went from getting like 6-8 LR wrong to 14 wrong.
I really need a strategy because the Cambridge LR bundle (questions from tests 1-38) I bought is a joke. The hardest questions from 10-15 years ago are child play compared to some of the questions on the recent tests. I'm taking the LSAT on Oct 5, and I don't think I'll be able to get LR down by then.
I can do the earlier LR with more ease because I can actually understand the stimulus. Some of these newer questions don't even register in my head.
I hate having to make these topics but for all the LSAT LR Gods out there: How the heck do you manage to do some of the harder questions in 1.5 min?
Sorry for noobish question but was this feature removed?
I had asked a bunch of questions and gotten responses from both JY and other students. I'm trying to find one of these and I'm not sure how to do so.
Please help me out. Thanks.
I think my mistake was cramming. I'm not smart enough as many others and cramming made learning LR really hard. I couldn't keep focus and juggling work, LSAT, and family commitments was really tough. If I take it slow, and just focus on improving LR over a year or something, I think I can do much better. Another issue is I have OCD when I'm in a quiet environment. This makes it really tough to get through questions on time. I PT'd in the library so there was noise everywhere but I can deal with that. The silence in the testing room really unnerved me and I could not focus at all. Not sure how I can get past that...
Hi,
Used both firefox and chrome and same issue on both.
The alternate video player works for the first time I open the page, but if I click outside the page (which makes it close) and reload the video by clicking the link for alternate video, it won't show up. A blank popup appears instead.
Am I doing something wrong? I hate using youtube because it loads slowly compared to the alternative player.
Okay i'm not really sure what to title my concern but unlike LG which I can do a few times and understand 100% wth I was doing wrong, I am having trouble doing something like that for LR.
When I go over the right answers by watching the video for the PT I can see what I did wrong. I try to "redo" the question by trying to convince myself why the wrong answers are wrong.
However I'm still making like 5-10 mistakes in LR per PT.
Hi,
I'll be starting the CAS process for getting my LSAC gpa computed as well as getting LORs from professors. I already have two professors willing to give me a LOR and I will be meeting with them next week.
I'm taking the LSAT in October. Can someone explain like I'm 5 what steps to take to make the application process as streamlined as possible?
I honestly looked this up but the information is so all over the place. I would like to know, if it is all right, how those of you who are in law school or have gone to law school completed the application process. What steps did you take and when?
Thanks
I'm not sure what it is but I can't seem to apply the methods of diagramming as easily to these questions. I did horribly on LR after improving quite a bit in the upper 50s PTs. Many of the NA questions were same in terms of difficulty, but the questions where inferences need to be drawn seem to make pretty big leaps in logic.
PT 60 absolutely destroyed me in LR. Felt way too abstract and I'm not sure how to go about answering such questions.
For some questions, I still can't understand the gap even after watching the video explanations. At this point I am getting frustrated of getting so many questions wrong. Has anyone done PT 60 onwards? How has your experience been with LR?
Which PTs are considered difficult and which ones are (relatively) easy?
I took PT 46 yesterday after upgrading my course from the basic package to premium and I got -4 LR, -0 LG, and -1 RC. On PT 50 I got annihilated on LR (improved to -7 LR, -2LG, -1 RC from -14 LR..). PT 51 was "in between" 50 and 46 because I did better in LR than I did on PT 50 but not as well as I did on PT 46 (-6 LR).
Can someone explain what role "even if" plays in (D)?
I was able to eliminate all of them except (D) so I picked it. Turns out, I got lucky.
I tried to make even if a sufficient condition so "even if" it fails, the necessary could still happen. However, is this correct way of thinking about it? Or is even if similar to only if?
On a side note I only got one wrong on PT 51 S1 :D
Not sure if this LR section was easier or if I got better :P
Edit: can we also go over Q16? I had trouble doing the diagram for it but managed to get it right.
http://classic.7sage.com/lsat_explanations/lsat-51-section-1-question-21/
I'm a little worried.
My format was LR-RC-LR-LG-LR.
The first LR was pretty straight forward. I was able to answer every question within time, and there were a couple of questions I wasn't too sure about. I think I got at most maybe 4 wrong.
The RC was all right. There was a question in there in the dance passage that drove me utter nuts. I eliminated all 5 answer choices... wat. Pretty sure I got that one wrong. Looking at maybe -1 to -2 on RC.
The 2nd LR was probably experimental but holy ****. It was so hard. I wanted to cry. I heard critical failure alarms go off in my brain. My vision started blurring... "time is up," said the proctor. WOW. Talk about losing all morale. I'm pretty sure I got half of those wrong hahaha.
Then after break came the LGs. 26 min in and I'm done. Sweet. Time to chill. I reviewed my answers. Pretty sure I got -0.
The next LR was also quite hard. I think there were 6 questions I was unsure about, and pretty much half of the last section was really tough...
When I was done with the test though... I really think I got maybe 10-12 LR wrong :/
I don't think I did too well to be honest. I'm probably going to get around 160-165 :/
Worst case scenario I end up retaking. Thanks to 7sage I became a beast at LG and RC. I just need to keep at it and get better at LR.
I'm going to study for my certifications (related to job), study for GMAT, study LR on the side, and retake the LSAT in June. I don't think 2-3 months was enough time for me to get really good at LR. I'm really burned out to study for December... and I would rather take more time to do better on LR next June. I'm a little disappointed in myself that I couldn't meet my target, but I just have to admit that I'm not one of those people who can learn something in one shot. I'm not giving up hope though. Giving up is too easy. I will admit though that it is quite depressing that I am 22 and probably won't be going to law school next year. I know it isn't the end or whatever but it was my personal goal and I blew it... another disappointment.
Unfortuneately I'm not in a position to get away with a score in the 160s due to my mediocre GPA (3.2). I need to do the best I can. I've been doing great in two of three sections. Just going to keep at it when I get a chance. I don't want to fear LR; LR should fear me!
Good luck to everyone else. Hope y'all killed it!
For retakers: I'll see you around :D We'll make it with JY's guidance :D
For JY and other who teach 7sage lsat prep:
What did you guys score on the actual LSAT? What was your diagnostic score when you started?
They seem far simpler than the newer ones.
The newer tests have a ton of abstract language (or so it seems to me) than older tests.
If you were going to do a bunch of PTs where would you start?
I'm in the same boat as you Shansang.
Tomorrow is my day to go HAM lol.
This is a very basic question but I plan on applying to schools this year so I can start attending next fall.
I've tried to gather some information online but each minute I spend on something else is a minute not spent on the LSAT! :<
So far I've gathered that I need to send my transcript to LSAC, get LORs from professors, and take the LSAT and do well on it.
However, how do you actually apply to a school? Is it just online forms you fill out for each school or is it all done through the LSAC site? Do I ask my professors to write an LOR and send it to me (awkward) or do I have to give them stamped envelopes to send to each school?
I don't know how to exactly ask this without embarrassing myself but I really don't want to screw up law school admissions lol. Thanks.
I practiced 20 random weaken questions using the cambridge bundles and I got 4 wrong out of 20. 2 were from the most difficult group, while the other 2 I got wrong were easier...
Is there hope for me to get everything down for a high score by Oct? I'm trying to finish the 7Sage course by mid-July so I can start doing full length PTs.
Is this a good strategy?
Yeah I thought so.
PT 60s were really hard and I struggled just to hit my target of 170 (but managed somehow).
I played the Battlefield 4 beta yesterday. Feels good to finally have some fun lol.
How do you guys feel about 69? Did anyone feel it was quite easy compared to the other tests in the 60s range? I've noticed the LSATs get harder, then easier, then harder, then easier again. Maybe we'll get lucky and get an easier test this saturday :D
Regardless, Is doing well on 69 indicative of at least feeling prepared enough for Saturday?
Currently on PT 57.
Due to time limitations I am taking every 1-2 LSATs as full length timed, and doing the in-betweens as timed sections. Devoting time to BR is also demanding so I make sure I have enough time to attend to both BR and taking timed tests/sections.
I'm currently scoring about 170-172 before BR. I managed to get 180 after BR on PT 56. My biggest weakness is still LR.
I have the entire month of September to devote towards this test. How can I make the final push for as high of a score as possible? Due to circumstances my goal is basically a 180 or as close to it as possible. This is my only chance for getting into one of the lower of the T14 schools.
I'm going over questions I got wrong and understanding what I did wrong. I'm also going over lessons from the syllabus when I find that a certain type of question is giving me a lot of trouble. Current weakness is LR where I am still getting many questions wrong.
With that in mind, how should I schedule my studying for this month? This is the final assault and I'm finding it VERY hard to increase score.
Hi,
I've currently only taken 2 PT's (50, June 2007). I purchased some LSAT question bundles from cambridge lsat and drilled a bunch of LG and RC from tests 1-38. After each topic JY taught, I would spend about 2-3 hours doing drills from those packets.
I'm thinking of taking every other 50s test and then doing each 60-68 test.
Is this a good plan?
On PT 50 I screwed up hard on LR but after calming down my nerves and "retaking" the LR section I improved substantially. I have heaps to go though before I can say I am confident in my abilities to score 0 wrong (or as few wrong as possible). I did okay on the other sections but as mentioned in another post I ran out of time on the RC but got one wrong while missing two on LG because I didn't read my own inference chart properly...
dude im so nervous
