Without even realizing I answered this question as a strengthening question instead of NA. #FacePalm

Hello everyone! So I was slightly disappointed about my LSAT score today. Although it wasn’t too far off from my average (171), I want to maximize my performance and even try to shoot higher for November (break above 173). My PTs have been a little inconsistent, my range is 168-174. How can I narrow this gap, and what strategies would be most effective to achieve my retake goals? Thank you in advance!

I had the same issue and would do the following:

Step 1: From your existing test results, spend time figuring out where the inconsistency stems from i.e. figure out which question types you are getting wrong/not sure about when you are scoring on the low end of the scale.

Step 2: Once you have the specific sections/question types. Spend 1 week (or a few days) just drilling on these rigorously and do set of 5-10 questions at a time for LR, 1 section/1 game at a time for RC + LG. Do blind review.

Step 3: After this do PTs for the 2nd week and perform same analysis as step 1.

Repeat until 2-3 days before the test.

If it's all over the place and you can't narrow down on question type, I'm guessing it's just fatigue of full length tests in which case ignore step 2 and just keep practicing & reviewing at the same time each day and under the same conditions.

Just got my score. I’m honestly devastated by it. I thought it went pretty well and I consistently scored above that in my prep tests. I need to raise my score by at least 8 points in order to even be considered anywhere given my low GPA... ugh. Withdrawing from October and signing up for November. I’m just worried that November will be a little late in the cycle?

Keep your chin up and give it your best shot in November. I was in the same spot when I took the test before since I have low GPA and had it in my head when taking the test that I had to score 99.9 percentile. I blew the test and felt really bad. Having the target score in my mind just worked against me. Be relaxed and just try to "have fun" with the LSAT. I don't think November is too late in the cycle. You'll be able to submit applications in December, which is fine I think.

Just checked LSAC even before I got the email. Got a 173. Thanks a ton 7Sage, definitely could not have done it without the amazing resources & people here.

Good luck everyone.

If I have purchased the score preview option for the August Flex and do NOT get my score back on 9/18 due to a writing portion not yet processed, does anyone know whether the 6-day period to cancel the score starts on 9/18, or starts when I actually get to see my score after the writing portion is processed? Thanks!

I heard on the Powerscore podcast that it takes effect from when you get to see your score i.e. delay will not affect it.

Why don't they release unofficial scores?

Does anyone know why LSAC doesn't release unofficial number of right answers at the end of the test? Presumably the system can calculate it on the fly, right? This could be followed by the actual score on the release date.

If anyone can't tell Sep 18 can't come fast enough for me lol

I’m interested too. I’m applying both to Canadian and US schools and I agree, I think Canadian schools’ requirements seem a little different. Over the next week, I’ll be writing up my statements (PS and diversify) for both US and Canadian schools.

I had the same problem. Apart from the obvious things like ensuring I was fresh & relaxed before doing any test, to be honest, the only way I improved was just by practicing and practicing every day. Didn't find there were any shortcuts for me. I still feel fatigued but it's considerably reduced and I find that I'm able to concentrate better for a longer time.

In my non-LSAT time, I also tried to read books/articles etc. (particularly to help with my reading comp concentration). Not sure how much direct effect this had, but my rationale was that any more practice reading/analyzing short passages would help.

One other thing is, since the next few LSATs are likely to be flex, try to get through 3 sections of a test and leave the last one for just a single timed section practice for a later time/day.

Interested to see if anyone else has any tips/tricks.

Good luck!

I'll probably be taking the November exam based on my August score. I'm same as you, I'm going to take it easy for the next couple of weeks (doing a handful of timed sections each week) and after that I'll be doing 2-3 full PTs plus a few timed sections each week. I'll be into repeating previously done tests.

Are we allowed to use blank pieces of paper to write/work out questions?

Yes - 5 sheets. You'll be asked to show it before hand and to tear it apart after.

Took the test today (Sep 2) at 930EST. I had RC-LR-LG

RC:

Comic

Microfinance comparative

Universe Expansion

Dont remember other

Overall not bad although I found the universe expansion a little hard. I was interrupted during the microfinance passage due to Proctor U disconnecting (although my internet was fine :/) it took about 1-2 mins to fix and I had just finished reading the passage. I had to re-read it which was not ideal. I think I lost a total of 3-4 mins max. I was able to get through all the passages but didn't have time at the end to review. I had flagged a few questions.

LR: Was OK. Spent too much time on one question in the middle (around #15-16 mark) and was cramped a little at the end.

LG: Was easy. No issues or surprises.

Overall i'm not sure about RC & LG. Think I let the proctor u interruption take me out the "zone" too much. Had 3-5 questions flagged in each but didnt have time to review as I usually do during PTs. Hoping for a 170. But am registering for November just in case (didn't know October deadline had passed!!).

Confirm action

Are you sure?
